  1. The Buffalo All-Americans were an early powerhouse of the NFL. During their first seasons they legitimately had reason to think of themselves as the best team in the league. If you look for the Buffalo All-Americans logo, you're going to have a difficult time. This is not their logo. It's from a different Buffalo team, one from the AAFC, in 1946. This is not their logo. It was drawn by Bob Carroll, the late executive director of the Professional Researchers Association. He evidently never found a logo and drew this to fill the need. I did find one thing, from a facebook page devoted to Buffalo sports. Evidently this was on the Buffalo All-American's letterhead. Where did it come from? Whoever drew it wasn't drawing from life, American Bison don't look like that. Something about it looked familiar, as if I had seen it before. It had to come from a book, probably a book of sketches, written before 1920. It took some research but I found this, It came from a book called American pictures drawn with pen and pencil By Rev. Samuel Morrison https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc2.ark:/13960/t8gf0nk9n&view=1up&seq=42 . I'm not sure he had ever seen a Buffalo in real life. I did a drawing based on the two illustrations, trying to keep what I could but also make something useful. Which led to these two, Neither of which I was happy with. BTW, Buffalo's colors were black, and orange. The uniforms weren't bad but I ended up using a double-A logo instead of the Buffalo. That's where it sat for most of two years as i did other stuff. Then I got sick. While I was undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma I didn't feel like doing a damn thing. After the treatment, I got into a weird situation where I was feeling better but still wasn't able to go back to work. So I started to go back over old projects. I had a bunch of art on Deviantart but decided to move it. DA was convenient and well laid out but not something you want to put on a resume. Artstation was what I decided on. I couldn't upload the psd's but I could upload complete categories of stuff. When it was time to redo Buffalo I went back to the old drawing. The logo needed to be cleaner, with shapes that were more easy to make out. So I got out the pencil again and drew this, I traced that in flexisign, a program similar to coreldraw or illustrator. Then made some variants to see what looked best. I kept trying to simplify the design down. and finally settled on this. Which I'm happy with and probably never change. The revised uniform looks like this, Thoughts?
  2. I always thought the Badgers logo looks oddly modern. It's hard with these old teams finding where the logo comes from (Dayton, the Jeffs and Oorang are exceptions) If your still doing these I'd love to see your take on Providence Steamrollers. THIS is the logo, Have fun with that. BTW, if you plan on doing the Buffalo All Americans, this was their logo. It came off a team letterhead. It was based on an illustration from a book. Good stuff.
  3. /\/\/\ You might want to adjust the amount of shadow on the girl's right shoulder. With the gray shirt you can see it's her shoulder but when I first saw the white shirt I thought that was one hellava bicep.
  4. There are things you can do better in Illustrator (or Flexisign, which is what I use) and things you can do better in Photoshop. Learning them both, if you can, is a plus. I use Photoshop to do this; and You would not be able to easily get the same effects in Illustrator.
  5. Yazata was made by David Nalle who has a number of fonts that share features with the font I'm looking for. I went through what I could find of his work but nothing matched exactly.
  6. https://www.deviantart.com/darth-brooks/art/Front-template-832327864 How about this?
  7. I could make on. I did this: https://www.deviantart.com/darth-brooks/art/Ice-Hockey-Rink-Psd-290553687 and I could adapt it.
  8. I did a series on updating the defunct NFL teams, I'd love to see other takes on it. You want to make that your challenge?
  9. This fits here, https://imgur.com/a/RsJh9 A bunch of football helmets with band logos on them.
  10. I like it. It really wasn't a request but I'll take it anyways. That's neat to see.
  11. This is the old Milwaukee Badgers logo an old old NFL team. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_Badgers I have no idea how accurate the colors are. I saw a version of this that had green mixed in.

When you click on it and then click on it again you get a very large image. 13. Frenchie, I could probably make some. I'd have to find source material.
  14. It's very simple, if he's pulling your logos off he's trying to take (steal) credit for your work.
  15. When I did a series on defunct NFL teams I thought about doing the AAFC teams including the Dons, but I couldn't get a handle on what a modern version of the team would be.
  16. Man, I wish we could post just plain text instead of the forum handholding us on everything.
  17. This is what I had done. It would be interesting to see a truly modern version - modern player, modern style.
  18. Doing a little bit of google searching brings a metric ton of complains about PublicDomainRegistry.com. Scuzzy, scuzzy people.
  19. It just hit me, if someone ordered a picture it would end up a poster sized blow up of a 75x75 gifs. Also, Wallart is owned by something called Publicdomainregistry.com, which is about as anonymous as you can get. Whois Server Version 2.0 Domain Name: WALLPART.COM Registrar: PDR LTD. D/B/A PUBLICDOMAINREGISTRY.COM Sponsoring Registrar IANA ID: 303 Whois Server: whois.PublicDomainRegistry.com Referral URL: http://www.publicdomainregistry.com Name Server: GENE.NS.CLOUDFLARE.COM Name Server: LYNN.NS.CLOUDFLARE.COM Status: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited Updated Date: 11-may-2016 Creation Date: 21-feb-2014 Expiration Date: 21-feb-2018 PublicDomainRegistry.com has their own webpage (and complaint page. Another rabbit hole to stuff unread emails)
  20. There's a page for notifying them of copyright violation (that I assume goes directly to trash) Everything on there is a copyright violation. Edit: the reporting page doesn't work, lol.
  21. If someone wants to give this a runthrough, it could probably be used on the mother page. The current pic for the Eagles logo (1948 to 1968) is this mess. I found this while looking for letterheads. It's obviously much cleaner. (Click here for bigger)
