  1. This can't be terribly surprising when you consider that NFL overtime: a) isn't total sudden death anymore, just sudden death under one condition. b) is 10 minutes long instead of 15 minutes. Both teams can exchange field goals, there's less time for multiple possessions...it just kinda is what it is. Personally, I've always preferred overtime to be a 4th quarter do-over, and you play a full 15 minutes and let the dust settle as it may, and if it's still tied after that, then you have a fair result. Sometimes a tie is the most appropriate outcome for a game because neither team really did enough to win the game outright.

Buffalo vs. New England Green Bay vs. Chicago Pittsburgh vs. Atlanta NY Jets vs. Minnesota Jacksonville vs. Detroit Tennessee vs. Philadelphia Cleveland vs. Houston Washington vs. NY Giants Denver vs. Baltimore Miami vs. San Francisco Seattle vs. LA Rams LA Chargers vs. Las Vegas Kansas City vs. Cincinnati Indianapolis vs. Dallas New Orleans vs. Tampa Bay
  3. Does Suarez actually want to play in MLS, and is just biding his time back at his hometown club in Uruguay? Because for lots of South Americans, going home to the clubs that they got their original big break from is their equivalent of "soft retirement", with the added benefit of being treated like conquering gods when they come back.
  4. There's a mathematical problem here where so many managers think "sub off a forward for an extra defender, fortify the line" where this seems like such an obvious solution and it absolutely doesn't work out nearly as smoothly as you'd like, at least, not unless you have a team that's well-versed in playing with both 2CB and 3CB formations, both in general and also in situational soccer. When you add an extra defender on that backline, that's now one extra player who needs to be in sync when trying to hold the line for offside. It's two more legs in the penalty box that can be at risk of giving away a penalty if you get a tackle wrong. It enables the other team to push an extra CB into the play to help provide outlets and support options because you don't pose as much of a threat on a quick counter and, related to that last one, you're making it harder to relieve pressure and present the risk of being able to break a counter attack with numbers. When he was managing Inter, I used to see Antonio Conte make these kinds of decisions all the time. Slightly different because 3CB is Conte's standard formation, but he would make moves in the name of "defensive fortification". I guess it worked out well enough in the 2020-'21 season, but Inter squandered lead after lead in '19-'20 and it's almost certainly cost them the Scudetto that season. Seeing that kind of managing in general just gives me the wrong kinds of flashbacks and reminds me of the countless times swearing at my TV or computer after the at-times inevitable backfire.
  5. I don't know if this is the first time Ottawa's wearing their RR's, but I'm deeply unimpressed. I just thought my eyes were playing tricks on me with thinking these were their current black sweaters but, like, maybe they got tweaked over the offseason and I just missed an announcement. Apparently they're a "stealth" version of these? They could've done much better than just replacing the white areas with red and leaving the black stripe completely untouched (not to mention leaving the 2D logo instead of the 3D). Instead, it looks like a Walmart knockoff of their main set.
  6. He's a Spanish referee and he can be a bit of a character in La Liga games he officiates. He definitely doesn't shy away from letting games get a bit loose, which is wonderful for atmosphere but can also leave fans and players of both teams very frustrated. Personally, I get a kick out of him.
  7. Mateu Lahoz is the referee for the USA/Iran game. I can see the show already.

  10. , really? My eyes must've gotten crossed reading it on Google the other day. My bad. Looking at it, that's exactly what happened. The Saints are playing the Niners with the Rams playing the Chiefs, and I must've just gone from Saints directly to Chiefs and skipped over the other two. Thanks for pointing this out. @Sport, @MJWalker45, @tBBP, @tigers, @DoctorWhom, @RyanMcD29, @~Bear, @DG_ThenNowForever, @infrared41, @CDCLT, @oldschoolvikings, @JayMac, @Walter Sobchak, and @dont care(I believe that's everyone I noticed), adjust your picks accordingly. My apologies for this error. New Orleans @ San Francisco LA Rams @ Kansas City

  13. Pretty rough week all around, especially late afternoon on Sunday. Week 10 results: Week 10 winner: @MJWalker45 for the third time in four weeks. 14. This reminded me of this bit of water carrying from Seth Wickersham after the Bucs won the Super Bowl a couple years ago. Kind of a rare thing to say, but I appreciate the Twitter comments. And in the case that Joe lays out here with Rob Chudzinski...he saw his kids once or twice a week for several months, his team went 4-12, and he got fired after one season. That might be the worst example of "this is the lifestyle" that could've been laid out. All it shows is that the lifestyle was a total failure.
  15. You do something as a one-off for the sake of novelty, you experience of success, superstition sets in, and boom, now you're wearing the look way more often than it was ever intended to be worn.
  16. Winners: 2015: @DG_ThenNowForever 2016: @winters in buffalo 2017: @Walter Sobchak 2018: You 2019: @Maroon 2020: @~Bear 2021: @Chawls I can't speak for the years when Tank ran this competition and I don't have much interest in looking it up. But you or any of those other listed names (at least the ones playing this year) would be the first multi-time winner if you won this year. --- Atlanta vs. Carolina Seattle vs. Tampa Bay Detroit vs. Chicago Cleveland vs. Miami Denver vs. Tennessee Minnesota vs. Buffalo Houston vs. NY Giants Jacksonville vs. Kansas City New Orleans vs. Pittsburgh Indianapolis vs. Las Vegas Arizona vs. LA Rams Dallas vs. Green Bay LA Chargers vs. San Francisco Washington vs. Philadelphia

  20. Here's some of the things I got from your post. 1) The Lakers are wearing their traditional road color for more home games than road games this season. 2) The Lakers are wearing their traditional home color for more road games than home games this season. 2a) The Lakers are wearing their traditional home color for less than half their home games this season. (I realize this isn't the first time this has happened.) This is definitely Bizarro World stuff going on.
  21. This looks like the Broncos decided to dress up as the Bears for Halloween. It's amazing how what looks good for one team looks so awful for another.
  22. Baltimore vs. Tampa Bay Denver vs. Jacksonville Miami vs. Detroit Carolina vs. Atlanta Arizona vs. Minnesota Chicago vs. Dallas Las Vegas vs. New Orleans Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia New England vs. NY Jets Tennessee vs. Houston NY Giants vs. Seattle Washington vs. Indianapolis San Francisco vs. LA Rams Green Bay vs. Buffalo Cincinnati vs. Cleveland EDIT: Sorry to anyone who got tagged again. Not sure why this post ended up duplicating my previous post.
  23. I'm kind of amused how quickly the old feelings have come back. When you used to do something for a very long time, then even if you get away from it for a few years, you can return and find that the muscle memory is so well trained and so familiar that there's no adaptation process required at all. On a more serious note, I said quite often during Brady's 40 day retirement that people like Brady don't just retire when they have a season like the one he had. Now, Brady isn't anywhere near the top of the list of Bucs concerns right now, but I also think it's fair to suggest he doesn't look like he's performing to his 2021 level, either. No surprise, he's 45 years old. If this season doesn't turn around and he were to retire after this year, I wouldn't be nearly as surprised by that outcome. He's always struck me as someone who's going to make sure the tank is completely on E, no matter how ugly that last part might be in getting there. At least he would be able to live with the knowledge that he didn't have anything left to give when he finally retired.
  24. Week 8 results: Week 8 winner(s): It might be faster to name the people who didn't win. Jeez. Most picks were close to identical this week with the Saints/Cardinals game basically being the swing game, so if you picked Arizona, you're probably in yellow. @Red Comet, @~Bear, @infrared41, @Kooky01, @TrueYankee26, @Walter Sobchak, @CDCLT, @DustDevil61, @Chawls, @MJWalker45, and @JerseyJimmy. Week 8 schedule: Baltimore vs. Tampa Bay Denver vs. Jacksonville Miami vs. Detroit Carolina vs. Atlanta Arizona vs. Minnesota Chicago vs. Dallas Las Vegas vs. New Orleans Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia New England vs. NY Jets Tennessee vs. Houston NY Giants vs. Seattle Washington vs. Indianapolis San Francisco vs. LA Rams Green Bay vs. Buffalo Cincinnati vs. Cleveland
  25. Islanders fans were chanting "We want Tampa" in the 2021 playoffs. Got them, lost. Rangers fans were chanting "We want Tampa" in the 2022 playoffs. Got them, lost. Yankees fans were chanting "We want Houston" after the ALDS. Got them, lost. When the hell are New Yorkers going to learn? And really bold and brash and probably stupid of Phillies fans to take this page out of their playbook. I'm assuming Philly hubris overrides their ability to see how this one has worked out for the New York teams.
