  1. That is the most OITGDNHL but not actually the NHL's fault story that I've ever read.
  2. Of the major manufacturers, it's really only Adidas that does that.
  3. You can't say that and leave out the only team in the NBA that has never changed their primary logo since the franchise's inception.
  4. San Diego is taking steps to build a replacement for the Sports Arena and is already heading in that direction after removing the area it's in from a zone that has very strict building height limits. I doubt we'll be getting an NHL-caliber arena, but given the fan support the Gulls have had since the team moved to San Diego (they've averaged the highest attendance in the Western Conference) it would be awesome to have a modern arena. I love the Sports Arena and I've enjoyed it when I've gone to see the Gulls, but the building is more than 50 years old. I just hope that they can actually find a source of funding to build the arena since San Diego is rightfully opposed to taxpayer funding for facilities after that greedy :censored: Spanos burned us one too many times.
  5. Obviously eleven months on, this hasn't aged well. Hopefully the change in coaching means that my speculation was right but my timing was off.
  6. The logo is bland, yes, but I'm glad to see that it's the Iron Bowl Presented by BBVA instead of being the BBVA Iron Bowl. There are certain games where the name of the game should always come first. The Rose Bowl is another one.
  7. Arizona is wearing white with red facemasks/navy/white against USC.
  8. I am beyond disappointed that I was 100% wrong about the change to the Desert Swarm throwbacks. Why would they use them so much for advertising purposes and then not use them on the field? Ugh...
  9. At this point, I’m pretty confident that Arizona will be wearing the Desert Swarm uniforms full-time this year. I have yet to see any significant media from the team that features the old uniforms, and they just posted the 2020 Yearbook. The front cover is Grant Gunnell in the throwbacks. I expect an official announcement between now and the first game. I would be very surprised if I’m wrong.
  10. Asymmetrical helmets always look bad. That includes the Steelers.
  11. Sweden And Sweden is also very traditional. I see this as a backlash against the stupid designs from the 2016 World Cup and the 2018 Olympics. Nike and Adidas both went too far with some of their national team designs (2018 was obviously worse than 2016 but my point still stands) so I'm leaning towards simple designs for the World Cup teams. Design tends to be cyclical, after all.
  12. Canada Canada's design is also very traditional but I couldn't help but include the maple leaf sleeve cuffs. They look good so why not include them?
  13. Alright, on to the World Cup! I've got three teams' designs set today, but I haven't decided on the font so they'll just be blank for now. This World Cup assumes full cooperation of the IIHF and the national hockey federations (which wouldn't happen in real life) so I can just use the real-life logos instead of the made-up-out-of-thin-air logos from the past World Cup. United States Obviously the US' design is very traditional. What more needs to be said?
  14. They'll be some of the few uniforms to see the field this fall since the SEC's boosters will fight tooth and nail to make sure that the teams play. I won't specify why they'll fight for it, of course.
  15. Figures that that happens when I finally get the chance to start such an important thread.
  16. The RoboPen looked amazing as a shoulder patch with the Skating Penguin as the primary. How so? I can guarantee that if the Nordiques had stayed in Quebec, those jerseys would've gone the way of the other 90s jerseys from teams that shifted away from traditional looks. The team would've eventually gone back to either the classic of some variation of the classic like so many others did.
  17. Alright, so now that I've finished 31/31 teams for both their primaries and alternates, here's what I'm planning right now. I have the designs solidified for the World Cup teams. The only issue is finding a font that works for them. I'm trying to find a good font that works for all of them since Nike seems to like doing one font for all of their teams in major competitions. I am going to translate Seattle's new jerseys over to my format. It's likely that I won't make serious changes. Some teams will start getting vintage jerseys, and it's possible that a couple of teams with throwbacks/fauxbacks that are currently listed as their alternates will get those relisted as their vintage jerseys while also getting new alternates.
  18. Dallas Stars Both sets have had their numbers changed. The trim on the original primary numbers was far too thick, while the two-color numbers on the original alternates didn't match with the striping. Also, the alternates' collars have been changed to match the striping as well.
  19. Vegas Golden Knights This one, like so many others, went through a lot of revisions. The latest version of this before the final was primarily black and silver with gold trim. It retained the V design but combined it with a horizontal hem stripe and the darker trim on the front continued on the back. I realized that having a two-color back of the jersey didn't look as good as the two-color front of the jersey so I continued the pants stripe up the side of the jersey to act as a cut-off point for the darker color. The color scheme combines the steel gray of the Golden Knights with the primarily red and black scheme of the Wranglers, so these are a slight homage to the city's hockey history. And with that, I have completed all four jerseys for all 31 teams! I'll now begin doing some more vintage teams, some current teams' vintage jerseys, some World Cup stuff and maybe even the All-Star Game jerseys.
  20. Tampa Bay Lightning I revised the color scheme slightly to make it more in line with the 2001-07 jerseys, which were the team's best look. The alternates have, like many others, gone through a lot of revisions. I wanted to do something that made some reference to the Storm jerseys, so the stripes are lightning-esque and the color scheme is more blue-heavy compared to the mostly-black color scheme of the primaries.
  21. Yep, that's part of the reason why I got banned way back in the day. I was a particularly bad case but I'm not the only person who's lost their temper when discussing politics.
  22. Toronto Maple Leafs I have returned! This one went through a few different versions. The versions immediately preceding these two incorporated gray quite a bit. The home alternate was gray with blue stripes. I settled on the design that you see here, but I realized that it'd be tough to make the same style work for the road version with both blue and gray on a white base. Then I realized that it could work just fine with no gray. This one incorporates cues from multiple eras. The sleeve-length yoke and matching collar calls to mind the Ballard-era jerseys, which despite their association with a guy who is probably the worst owner in league history, weren't all that bad. The sleeve stripes are reminiscent of the 1967 Cup-winning team, while the chest stripes are slightly derivative of some of the St. Pats' jerseys. I've got something rough done for both Tampa Bay and Vegas' alternates, so it's entirely possible that I might have 124/124 current team jerseys done before this topic hits 2 years old. Then I'm going to get something going for Hartford and Quebec, along with some World Cup jerseys and some teams' vintage jerseys.
