  1. Edmonton Oilers Pretty simple here: I translated their Adidas jerseys (which have really grown on me) over to my template. Don't fix what isn't broken. I always enjoyed the pre-Edge navy and copper jerseys (owning an early 2000s game-worn navy jersey doesn't hurt) so I decided to use that as the base for their alternates. I removed the red from the color scheme, though, since it always seemed superfluous to me and got lost against the copper stripes. I wish there was a good way to make the stripes look more metallic when in a raster image, since right now it just looks like brown. EDIT 4/6/20: Minor error on the home collar fixed.
  2. Dallas Stars These are similar to what they're currently wearing, but I decided to emphasize silver more than black in the color scheme. Also, the striping patterns now match between the two jerseys. This may end up getting some slight revisions before I finish the project since I'm vacillating between thinking the numbers look fine and thinking that the trim is too thick. Also, I haven't decided whether I want to add black back to the overall color scheme or not. The alternates are the team's best past jerseys modernized into my template, using the roundel logo as the primary.
  3. I tried but I didn't really figure out a way that would work.
  4. Columbus Blue Jackets The home jersey is a revival of their excellent mid-2000s alternate jersey that did well to combine navy blue and black. Both jerseys take advantage of the fact that both of Columbus' alternate logos are really good, so each jersey uses both logos, but have them on opposite shoulders. The alternate jerseys are a much more traditional template and take the striping from the Ohio flag, with a coordinating road version. The cannon roundel logo takes center stage on this one, and like the primary jerseys, there are two separate shoulder patches.
  5. Pittsburgh Penguins Their home and road jerseys are their current jerseys with a few small tweaks. I made the numbers two-tone and also brought back the RoboPen as a shoulder patch. Speaking of the RoboPen... Their alternates take the idea of the late 1990s/early 2000s RoboPen black jersey but implement it a bit more subtly. The stripe is derivative of the striping style used by the Steelers, but actually happens to line up pretty well with the horizontal stripes in the RoboPen logo. Updated on 10/13/19: I didn't like how the striping on the alternates looked on the inside of the 8, so now the striping doesn't continue inside the 8.
  6. Boston Bruins Nothing really out of the ordinary for the Bruins. This has elements of their 1981-1995 and Reebok Edge jerseys. Their alternates are a pair of gold and brown fauxbacks. Again, very conservative design. Even when the Bruins went modern (1995-2007) it was still a conservative design. I've maintained that simplicity here.
  7. Chicago Blackhawks Not much here since their uniforms are damn near perfect. All I've done is added tie-down collars and a tan outline to the logo. The alternates are one of the few cases in which the two jerseys aren't simply home/road versions of the same look. The black jersey is their old black alternate, but I've made its color scheme more in line with the 2009 Winter Classic jersey/second Reebok Edge third jersey. The road alternate is a vintage white version of that Winter Classic jersey. It's also somewhat derivative of the Rockford IceHogs' alternate jersey.
  8. Yeah, the sleeve stripes not wrapping around is something that'll be present on all of the designs with sleeve stripes. It's something inherent in Nike's designs that I decided to maintain.
  9. Anaheim Ducks I've long been a proponent of the Ducks going back to the Mighty Ducks colors/logo full-time in some capacity. While I'd prefer that they go back to the late 90s/early 2000s look (i.e., with the shoulder patch) as their home and road, I realize that at most, it'll be an alternate. For the purposes of this project, the Ducks are still just the Anaheim Ducks, but have reverted their colors back to the eggplant and jade. There's no reason why they can't go back to the colors and keep the current name. I kept the current number font and shoulder patch because they both work well. Also, because I can't leave out a nod to the Ducks being Orange County's team, the sticks in the logo are orange. The alternates are, for all intents and purposes, eggplant and jade-ified versions of their RL home and road jerseys.
  10. This is the latest iteration of a project that I've been working on for quite some time. I've never completely finished it, for one reason or another. Anyway, this is my vision of what the league could look like if it was Nike that had the exclusive contract with the league rather than Reebok followed by Adidas. The jersey template is based on pre-2014 Nike designs, so no flywire collars. Those look stupid. (No longer true as of the 2022 iteration of this project - the template is now based on the 2022 jerseys.) Following the real-life example of Nike and the NBA, every team will have four jerseys. However, they won't follow the same pattern as the NBA, i.e., teams can wear whichever jerseys they want whenever they want. The Nike NHL teams have one dark home jersey, one light road jersey, one dark alternate jersey and one light alternate jersey. Teams still wear dark colors at home and light colors on the road. Anyway, on with the show. NEW TEMPLATE Western Conference Pacific Division (8/8 primaries done, 8/8 alternates done, 4/? Heritage done, 1/? 11. Edmonton, Buffalo, Vancouver and New York are all wearing jerseys that are derivative from earlier looks in their history. Carolina is as well, to some extent. The state of Minnesota has a long history with the sport so a traditional look isn't out of place for them. Winnipeg's road jersey is hardly Original Six dress-up. Dallas and Florida I can see the point.
  12. Who, outside of Tampa Bay and the Original Six themselves, is playing Original Six Dress-up and isn't using a look that is derivative of an earlier look in the team's history?
  13. Damn, is $50 expensive to license a font? Looks like I'll need to find an alternative.
  14. Does anyone know the name of this font? I believe the Kings' numbers are derived from it but the names aren't. The logo is from Kohler.
  15. As a one-game thing, white pants don't look horrible in hockey. While the Kings' 2015 Stadium Series uniform would have looked better with gray or black pants, both the Pacific Division All-Stars and Maple Leafs Stadium Series uniforms this year look good with white pants.
  16. And at a certain point you have to move past what those in the past did. The school president, AD and head coach who were all involved in covering for Sandusky are no longer in their positions. In fact, their current AD is Timothy Curley's successor's successor. Same for President Spanier. They're on their second school president following Spanier. Their current president was a former professor at Penn State but there's no indication whatsoever that there was any connection between him and Sandusky's crime. Their current athletic director had no connection to the university up until she took the position in 2014. There's no point in attacking innocent people when those responsible for covering for Sandusky have been named, shamed and, in the case of Spanier and Curley, charged and convicted.
  17. The name wouldn't make sense, though. There's no historical whaling industry in Houston that I know of. Then again, the Lakers kept their name when they moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles and the Jazz kept their name when they moved from New Orleans to Utah, and as Baseketball reminded us, there are no lakes in LA and they don't allow music in Utah.
  18. No, because firing Bettman changes nothing. He is the face of the league's owners. If he goes, he'll be replaced by another stooge. If you want to change things, get rid of Jeremy Jacobs, for starters. He's one of the worst.
  19. The Thrashers were one of the worst victims of the Edge switch. They looked pretty decent (albeit for a late 90s/early 2000s expansion team) and their best for the 06-07 season because they stopped using that stupid secondary logo as anything other than a shoulder patch. Then it all went to hell a season later.
  20. In fairness to the league, I doubt most people even pay attention to who the trophy was named after. I bet a significant portion of modern hockey fans don't know who Clarence Campbell is either. At least it's not directly named after him so the league can weasel out of it by saying that nowadays the name is a tribute to the title, not one of its holders. Or at least that's what they'd probably do if someone besides us brought up the fact that the trophy is named after a Nazi sympathizer.
