  1. They sharpened the outlines of the bison and the swords. Those are minuscule details that you need to view up close to notice, but it makes a world of difference. Here's the before and after. (Spoilered for large images)
  2. I agree 50%. Things always change, to evolve with the times. Not just sports uniforms. There's a way to make changes and preserve the essence and there's a way to make changes and it up. It depends on how the re-designers approach it. An example of a team that got it wrong was the Ottawa Senators.
  3. I totally agree. The kachinas are fun throwbacks for throwback nights. But an updated, modernized version of these jerseys should have been what they went with for full-time home and road. Hire whoever made those magnificent Sabres uniforms and make them come up with something mid-90s inspired yet modern enough by 2021 standards. Then again, the team is struggling financially just to survive. It was probably cheaper to go with pre-existing throwbacks. They may become the Nordiques soon. If that's the case, no need for an amazing rebrand that won't last.
  4. The Blackhawks could have went out of the box, if they wanted to, and make a multicolored jersey. But their colors, being red, white, and black, they don't need to add a bunch more colors because they got it right the first time. That Avs combo is a product of the 90s, where teams came up with color schemes that weren't common. It's from the same time period where the Thrashers began to use the colors navy blue, burgundy, yellow, and powder blue. At that time, they did things that wouldn't work today. As teams evolve their look over the years, they bump into big issues, when they try to retain team history and be visually pleasing...all at the same time...
  5. My opinion may be unpopular. But I'd be open to change, if they restarted from scratch and rebranded properly, if they come up with a good idea to work with. But also, I honestly think that their previous look was the best look they could assemble with what they had. Removing the black shells but keeping the black numbers is not an aesthetic upgrade.
  6. I understand why many want to eliminate excessive colors, to go with blue and burgundy and that's it. However, the team kept black numbers, so the changes that the Avs made don't even resolve the complaint that was pointed out so many times here. The Avs look so much better with black pants breaking up all that blue. Using blue as a highlight color only on the road looks quite decent.
  7. The puck in the crest is black. There's a bit of black.
  8. I love the vintage white. Unpopular opinion?
  9. What are the chances that St. Louis matches Minnesota and use the "Blues" script over the Blue note? Not exactly this, but a new custom font for the throwback theme.
  10. You're not wrong. That too is a good choice, similar to the Eagles. It'll probably be an era mash up: a take on that jersey with a St. Louis script over the Blue note crest.
  11. It will probably be a take on the St. Louis Eagles.
  12. The Buffalo Bills red hemet is so much better than the unoriginal white helmet. Their most recent uniform redesign isn't very good. This is what the Bills current uniforms should look like:
  13. Teams would be leaving money on the table, if they stopped making specialty jerseys. It costs a lot to produce outdoor classic games: the set-up, etc. These jerseys are only being used for stadium outdoor games. I'd even push for them to be used occasionally as alternates. Obviously, they can't replace the regular look full-time, that would be a horrible mistake. The Wild have made special occasion jerseys over the last few years covering multiple eras of their history, including the 80s North Stars years. Me I'm okay with it because it's more fun to go outside the box when they can. It's not a rebrand, so I wouldn't restrict them.
  14. Whoever came up with the idea of adding vintage brown faux elbow patches is a creative genius! It's a perfect old timey dressup uniform with ultra classic striping style, nice colors, excellent heritage-inspired logos. 10/10
  15. "Perish the thought" is something Bettman would say to the masses of hopefuls from Quebec City, who have wanted their team back since they left. He seems so adament to keep all of his teams in the US, even when a golden oppurtunity presents itself. If my memory serves me correctly, the reason why Winnipeg got the Jets back was because Atlanta was in the same boat and the league had their back against the wall. Meaning there were no other options other than Winnipeg, at the time.
  16. It's a bit underwhelming though that the team designers didn't try to come up with something new for the kachina, something better than the concepts that didn't work. The Canes re-did the warning flags. Something along those lines.
  17. Their minor league affiliate did the kachina better. The new pattern is more attractive and up-to-date, in a way. Arizona should have used their template, change the colors up a bit, and make this the new Coyote jersey with a matching road. I get that borrowing templates is usually the other way around. But at least they'd have better jerseys.
  18. I believe it. It might not have been the fans. But management comes off like they much greatly prefer navy. 20 years using navy, a few short years of royal, then back to navy to this day. They went full neon in the playoffs. Even the logo they used all over television was the classic Oilers crest in neon colors. It would be a huge distancing from their traditional logo, if they go with this look full-time and add the matching white. Is it even still the classic logo, if they go with the neon...
  19. It looks absolutely magnifiscent! I remember they put the 3 stripes on the pants because the waist was removed, the next jersey after that was a horrendously bad template. Maybe they wanted something more desert-themed. A disconnect occured when they wanted something other than ultra traditional, single-colored hockey stripes. I would have prefered a mix of both, best of both worlds blending organically into one if that's possible.
  20. I agree. They should have updated the retros, should have kept the howling Coyote somehow. When the fad dies down, the original Kachinas are going to start feeling outdated rather quickly. That's what happened to the royal blue and orange Oilers.
  21. The info below usernames (member title, location) looks much better now.
  22. Same thing that happened to Sycho Sid.
