  1. I agree, and I’ll go one step further. Pinstripes on any uniform, regardless of sport are incredibly ugly, Yankees included.
  2. Weird that a bunch of wealthy former athletes are sending their kids to a public school.
  3. Did Edina sleep with everyone’s moms or something?
  4. You can basically count this under unpopular opinions.
  5. I like it. Only thing I’d add is maybe an extremely thin stripe of bronze on the Flying V.
  6. These are all interesting, I’d like to see Johnny Canuck in Grizzlies colours.
  7. Every club you listed has a wealth of history behind it, which is why those names don't come across that way. They've built up enough brand recognition over the years that it comes across as iconic, but if Detroit got a brand new team and it was announced they'd be called the "Tigers", the general consensus on this board would be 'Wow, thats really generic, underwhelming, etc'. In a vacuum, the name is pedestrian, you can find 10 high schools in every city called the Tigers. But since they've been around so long, they've shaped that great identity.
  8. Mostly just history I'd say. I don't think any of those looks are particularly great, but I can see why they won't ever be touched. I absolutely hate the Yankees uniforms, but when you hear the term 'pinstripes' they're the first team to come to mind.
  9. Disagree completely, a team's nickname should be a homage to the city/state/region's character. Whether thats geographical, cultural, etc, it doesn't really matter. That's the entire point of a nickname. Its bad enough when you get generic ones like "Bulldogs" or "Warriors", even worse when they kept a nickname from a city where it no longer makes sense, like Utah Jazz. Imagine for the sake of argument the Colorado Avalanche or New York Islanders moving to Kansas City. "Kansas City Islanders" or "Kansas City Avalanche" is a bit absurd. Also I never understood what was so great about the Houston Oilers identity. The colours were pretty unique, beyond that they had a clip art oil derrick for a logo and a a generic striping pattern. Nothing about it screams "untouchable" or "iconic" to me.
  10. I just wish the panthers would drop every instance of silver in their colour scheme for white. It would look so much better, cleaner and more vibrant
  11. I just came here to post this. Gritty is amazing.
  12. It’s the black socks. It makes it look like they continue down to midcalf, like yoga pants. Even if they wore purple socks with them it would be a massive improvement.
  13. I like the Oilers in orange. I think the design is just as good, if not better than their classic blues, but people are (rightfully) biased towards the blue because those are the jerseys they won 5 cups in. However I still think the orange is a better look for Edmonton. There are 7 Canadian teams, four of which would be wearing monochromatic blue and the others red. The orange separates the Oilers a bit, gives them a bit of distinction, and this is the McDavid era, not the Gretzky era. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it having a distinct aesthetic. Also as perhaps another unpopular opinion, that thing about every Canadian team being in blue or red is why I would not be upset if the Canucks went to green full time and the Sens went back to black.
  14. This is a good look, but honestly I wouldn’t want them to go back to it just because there are already enough teams that do silver helmet + pants that it would just get lost in the mire. Maybe if they changed the helmet to blue or even green.
  15. I didn’t hate it, but man did that shade just make it look like they were wearing all denim.
  16. I'd actually just like to see them replace silver with white in every instance.
  17. Ravens are the one team I think can get away with all black and should be doing so.
  18. The modern browns uniforms aren't awful. It's a fine uniform minus a few obnoxious and unnecessary details (Like the wordmark pants). It's a downgrade for sure, but its not the horrific monstrosity many on this board make it out to be. Of course this happens any time a """""""""classic"""""""" team makes a uniform change. I'd like to see them return to their previous unis, but if you removed the 'BROWNS' word mark from the pants and shortened the shoulder stripes from encroaching on the chest I think its a decent look. I'm actually a big fan of the large chest wordmark as well, it's distinctive for the NFL while being reminiscent of youth football.
  19. Dumb. I thought the whole point of Superhero night was supposed to be about superheroes, not veggie tales knock offs.
  20. I actually wouldn’t be opposed to the gold pants with the white jersey, but it looks terrible with the purple.
  21. Sounds like they tried to come up with the most stereotypically “New York” name possible.
  22. I think it’s okay for the sake of throwbacks, but if a team’s fulltime uniform uses one just for the sake of being retro inspired, it should be updated. The Giants are fine, they use plenty of grey on their pants, but the 49ers are one of the worst offenders. The grey clashes so poorly with their red and gold colours. It looks bush league.
  23. Grey facemasks when there is no grey to be found in the team's colours are ugly and amateur looking.
  24. The jerseys are fine. It’s hard to find a striping pattern that’s both subdued and not generic, and I think they’ve hit it, particularly their away jerseys. As fans logos, ‘Winnipeg Jets’has so much potential. An RCAF insignia with a beveled jet and the maple leaf shoehorned in every logo doesn’t make a good look. I like the aviator blue, it beats the generic red and navy of the logos. The only logo I like is the word mark, because it reminds of the vapour trail of a jet.
