Most teams that have relocated, from what I've seen, try to stay away from these sorts of things to avoid the fanbase starting an uproar about "You spent x years in this city and you're just gonna ignore us?!" (ie. Nets move to Brooklyn, circa 2012)

    • OKC ignored their 10th anny. in 2018/19.
    • Memphis celebrated 10 years in Memphis in 2010/11, then celebrated the franchise's 25th in 2019/20.
    • Sacramento has only aknowledged thier time in California, with their 20th in '04/'05, 25th in '09/'10, 30th in '14/'15, and thier 35th in '19/'20.

The Clippers did have a10th anniversary logo ...

It's a small relief that the team is apparently going to be dog :censored: for the next few years, so no one will actually be forced to see these jerseys.

Well, except for us Jazz fans.

But, at least they'll be associated with losing once Mitchell is shipped off to NY. Then hopefully they'll float off across the great eternal rainbow bridge never to be seen nor remembered ever again ...

I appreciate the spirit of the jersey and know it's a throwback but the nob font on front for city name gives off a early 80's t-shirt shop heat pressing letters on a blank tank top vibe.

And, I'm sure that's why everyone loves it.

Could have built a pretty decent brand around SLC's flag

Nah. I could see MAYBE a City Edition, but even then nobody knows (or cares) what the SLC flag looks like here in Utah. If you're going to build a sports brand or alternate jersey around a city or state flag it should be somewhat iconic or recognizable outside the state. That's why it works for Colorado, Chicago and Arizona (to name a few).

How about the Utah Buzz?  Although, Charlotte did just have those Buzz City jerseys...

Georgia Tech owns the trademark on Buzz. Something us Utahns learned back in the '90s when GT sued the MiLB Salt Lake Buzz which eventually led to the return of the Bees nickname by way of the Stingers.

The Jazz should of just changed their name too if they wanted to make this drastic of a change. Buy the Salt Lake City Bee's nickname off the Triple-A team.

Ryan Smith does own the team (or maybe just half of it with LHM?), but honestly as a Jazz fan I don't know how against I am of a name change anymore?  There are plenty of local names and ideas you could draw from (without proposing the stupid Grizzlies/Pelicans/Jazz name swap trade).

It's just the Jazz have always been the Jazz, they have a deep history in this state. But, Utah Jazz history is full of eras -- AD/Griffith, Stockton/Malone, D-Will/Boozer, Mitchell/Gobert, etc. Would a new era with a new name be a BAD thing?

I’ve been to the Jazz team store twice since it was announced on Friday and I think people are buying merch just fine.

Yeah everyone hates the jerseys but half the merch is black/white or white/black which everyone wears. I bought 3 shirts. A black with yellow, a yellow with black and my daughter wanted a black/white one.

I’m fine with the color scheme (I mean look at my profile avatar), but I think things would have been better with fans if the jerseys highlighted the J-note more or full Jazz logo on it. I would buy a J-Note jersey in highlighter yellow and black.

I don’t know how much the addition of the purple jerseys were because of the demand for them, or just we screwed up with the design?

There are a LOT of mockups I'd like to see.  They've entered CavFanatic territory.

New / forthcoming  palette seems like black + yellow + 90s purple.

I'd like to see how other color could be integrated:

    +/- light blue

    +/- green (light or dark)

    +/- black

Probably not copper.  I'd like to see all combos applied to J note, mountains, and even red rock.

In a way, most of their palettes overlapped slightly, with varying degrees of divergence from original Mardi Gras:

    Purple/black/navy

    Gold/copper/yellow

    Kelly Green/teal/Light blue/ forest green

Red rock is harder to tie in, but gradient of black to red to yellow could somewhat translate to black to purple to yellow.

A mess, but easier to incorporate than Cavs orange

    Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

Let's not encourage them to add any more colors.

But, with that said I could totally see the Jazz add a lighter almost neon-ish purple to the yellow, black and white mix.

  9. The thread is simple -- what championship teams wore the WRONG jersey, sweater, uniform, etc. I don't want to limit this to just championship winning teams, so maybe the finalists of that league's championship round (ie-Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Final, etc.).

Here are a few examples to get the ball rolling ...

Washington Capitals, 1998 Stanley Cup Finalist

    Cleveland Cavaliers, 2016 NBA Champions

Back before the Nuggets introduced their 2003-04 look, I actually had thoughts of them utilizing that color scheme. Now, I'm not so sure, unless the NBA expands to Pittsburgh...

Anyway, I'm hoping Utah does end up scrapping the black and yellow redesign. It was a terrible idea with no basis in Utah's history. They may not be as successful as the likes of the Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers (in terms of championships), but the Jazz (and the color purple) have become synonymous with Utah. There's too much tradition for it to go away in favor of something soulless.

The thing is ... it does have a connection with the state being the Beehive State and all. However, the TEAM should lean into its' history with purple and J-note. Stop flirting with full-time Utah looks. We're the Jazz.

If Utah wanted to tie in to the red rock, why not base the identity off of it.

All they’d have to do is make a white jersey. They have the black for the road and the original red rock for the alt. They have logos and a court. Would have been so simple.

Logically that makes sense, but the fact that SLC is 200-250 miles from anything remotely red rock is the problem. If they did the current logos, jerseys and courts in black, yellow and white with the current alts. I'd be fine with that. The leaked jerseys are just too plain.
