  1. I mention the money laundering part mostly because the most infamous deferred contract ever involved copious money laundering. Excuse me if it's stupid to find OVER 97 PERCENT of the contract deferred to be extremely fishy. That aside, I don't think the Dodgers should be allowed to defer that amount of money to have more available payroll to sign more players. You want to sign Ohtani to that ridiculous contract, you should have to deal with the consequences of spending that much on one player -- if that means you can't afford other expensive free agent, so be it.
  2. The Niners are the only team that'll make the playoffs that's made Dak look mortal this season. Better?
  3. I like the slightly darker shade of the throwbacks. That along with old helmet >>> new helmet, old number font >>> new number font, and old stripes >>> new sleeve logo, means that I strongly prefer the throwbacks. I wouldn't say there's something "wrong" with the current look, it's a perfectly good uniform, it just has no chance when being compared to those throwbacks.
  4. This still seems horrible for the sport that these teams can just give out massive contracts and then just not pay it for a decade to keep the payroll down. It really smells of money laundering, and with this amount of money being involved, I don't think there rational arguments otherwise. Just because it can happen doesn't mean it should happen.
  5. If we're gonna do that, might as well go double throwback with a superior aqua uniform
  6. This Dolphins/Titans game is off to a great start. Xavien Howard and Jaylen Waddle are already both injured.
  7. The Titans in light blue pants and white socks looks ever so slightly off. Navy pants might actually have been a better call for this game, since the Dolphins' aqua is bringing the vibrant light blue. Or, they could have worn navy socks. Both would have complemented the navy helmet a lot better. Giants/Packers looks GORGEOUS.
  8. Maybe this is just pessimism from a jaded sports fan, but I can absolutely see Dallas winning that game in the right circumstances. I think they'd come into that game pissed off knowing how the last two seasons ended, and how the Niners were the only team to make Dak look truly mortal this season. I still have confidence in the Niners against anybody, but no game in the NFL is ever a guarantee (besides Joe Namath), especially in the playoffs.
  9. Yeah I think this is just a case of simply having differing opinions. I think the Packers have one of the best uniforms in football, and I loved how it looked against the Chiefs in white on white, sorta throwing back to Super Bowl I. For Rams/Browns being in my top three, that was more a product of this not being that great-looking of a week. A lot of mono-looks out there, which for me means automatic consideration for the "worst" list. I do absolutely think that Rams/Browns fits in your definition of wild card: Rams in yellow pants would have made this an elite matchup.
  10. No offense dude, you went 0 for 3 on the best matchups. There's no way mono-blue and mono-burgundy are part of two of the best matchups of the week. In fact, that Commanders uniform is one of the ugliest I've seen (it's still miles better than the BFBS alternate, but that's not saying much). I'd personally choose 1. Chiefs/Packers 2. Chargers/Patriots 3. Browns/Rams You nailed the three worst. HM? I'd put Cowboys/Seahawks. They're both good looks, but together it just creates a blue and silver overload. You penalized Packers/Steelers for not having enough contrast earlier this season, Cowboys/Seahawks are in the same boat. I don't even know how the wild card spot works so I won't comment on that. I enjoy your weekly lists, I just completely disagree with this one. Thanks for keeping it up!
  11. The most infuriating part is all the baseball reporters on Twitter claiming that this is "good for the game" that the Dodgers pay billions of dollars for a superteam. It ruins the integrity of the sport. As my soccer fan friend said, I didn't know the Saudis got into baseball.
  12. Yeah, this is more about my dislike for color vs color than anything. I do wonder if the Preds home jersey would still be yellow if the NHL went light-colors-at-home and they'd introduce a corresponding navy jersey.
  13. I think that the number 1 seed is always the goal though -- guaranteeing a first-round bye and a home-field NFC Championship game is a huge advantage. A bye week right before the most important football games of the season is the best "get right" opportunity that a football team can get. The 49ers were limping into their bye week in the midst of a three-game losing streak, but came out of the bye looking refreshed and rejuvenated, embarking on an active five-game win streak.
  14. You do have a point -- a lot of it could simply be morale. He seems to love it in San Francisco, he's fit perfectly in our offense. And he's somewhere where his contributions are meaningful -- he's on a legit Super Bowl contender, rather than a team gunning for first overall in the draft.
  15. Yellow is such a weird uniform color to me. I don't really like it as a light or a dark uniform color. I think that Nashville's current home yellow doesn't contrast well enough against any road team in white jerseys, and I've never been a fan of color vs color in any sport. But no argument from me that the design of that yellow Canucks uniform's design was lacking.
  16. I am looking forward to hopefully an AFC Championship Game without the Chiefs, or at least one not at Arrowhead. I am also fully prepared for this statement to age like milk.
  17. It's because the Panthers ran him into the ground as their only offensive weapon. The Niners use him more like a traditional RB, they have other guys that can shoulder the load.
  18. The Eagles were carving the Niners defense up early in the game last week with quick slants to AJ Brown, not sure why they stopped doing that. I'm not denying the Eagles' talent at all, there's a reason why last year, combined with a good offensive scheme, they were unstoppable. I absolutely agree with you that the playcalling is the issue here. Give these guys a competent game plan, and they'll run over everyone.
  19. Is it that the receivers can't get separation and get open? Has it been a consistent issue throughout the season? Because I thought the Eagles have the best O-line in the league and Hurts has elite mobility. I know the Niners got a bunch of coverage sacks on the Eagles because the secondary was lockdown, and that combined with stopping the run neutralized the Eagles offense.
  20. Silver helmet, silver pants, and those navy socks, that's a winning combo (it would also be a direct throwback to their 1994 uniforms).
  21. All I can say is, look at where Toney is in this pic. It's clearly a joke. Don't think this is as daunting as you think it is. You'll get either banged-up Geno or Drew Lock as your opponent. The Seahawks are in their own heads right now. You'll be fine.
  22. There's no way this wasn't done with the specific purpose of pissing the entire city of Houston off. At least the uniforms will look good, if not the quality of play on the field. A team that won a game 6-0 vs a team that lost a game 3-0, on primetime. Thrilling.
