i guess we'll get all whites (blue socks?).  would look weird to go white over black since that's kinda NO (and ATL for that matter) primary.  doubtful we see blue pants back to back.

I still unfortunately think that there's a good chance that the Panthers ruin this one with black leggings. As the Ravens last year and Jaguars this year showed, teams are willing to wear black pants in New Orleans for some reason.

It would be black overload, but these teams don't care.

  2. Out of the four major US sports, I didn't include the NBA and MLB here because they allow any uniform in a team's line up to be worn at any time. However, the NHL and NFL are typically more strict. How many examples are out there of teams wearing their alternates in the playoffs for the latter two leagues?

I'll start with a couple examples:

The Hurricanes in the playoffs every year

The Rams in Super Bowl LVI

Calgary will be wearing black as it is one of their previously scheduled Blasty games. Carolina would have known that before departing on the road so maybe they just decided to go white for white’s sake on this trip?

The decision makes about as much sense as any of their other uniform decisions. So, none.

Thumbing thru more SF/SEA pics, I did find a pic of CMC with a modern decal. At some point, there was a helmet swap. When or what that was, I don't know.

I know "sock-jacking" is a tired concept on this thread, but at the very least, teams should have all their players wear the same helmet design. This shouldn't be happening.

Edit: According to a comment on this Uni Watch article, the helmet switch was just before halftime, and it's likely that the 49ers staff repaired the throwback helmet during halftime, since CMC was back in a throwback helmet at the start of the second half.

Good catch. Strange, because checking other pics of CMC on Thanksgiving, he's in the throwback helmet.

Do you think NBC planted an old video? 🤔🤔

Interesting. It's definitely not from another game this year because you can clearly see in the video that there's no shoulder TV numbers- meaning that he has to be wearing the throwback uniform. The only time the 49ers have worn the primary helmet decals with the throwback whites was back in 2019 - when CMC was not on the team:

  6. Just noticed a 49ers uniform inconsistency from Thanksgiving night in Seattle:

There was a clip of Christian McCaffrey getting his helmet fixed that went viral:

But he has the wrong helmet. You can see that on the side of his helmet there's gold trim on the 49ers logo, as well as the primary logo on the front bumper. That's the primary helmet.

As the 49ers were wearing their throwback uniforms, they put throwback decals on the helmet, as can be seen with Brock Purdy's helmet here:

    How did this happen?

Eeeh, there's a lot of uniform gaps here; just looking at the NHL, the Bruins don't have any of their jerseys from the 20's-40's unlike on NHLUniforms. Toronto's only starts at 58-59, the Rangers' jerseys only start at 1976 , Detroit only starts at '86 and Chicago's only starts at 1996.

Hell, a few of the defunct teams straight-up just don't have uniforms listed on this site, like the Tigers, Pirates or Maroons.

Yeah, not to mention inconsistencies in image size and the templates used. This site is decent, but it's far from complete and it doesn't come close to the scope of what NHLuniforms did: Keeping track of the various manufacturer's tags throughout the 80s and 90s, as well as all the anniversary, memorial, and All-Star Game patches. Hopefully that site gets up and running again.
