The Hawks can't get Saturday nights at the United Center without an NBA lockout, relax.
Are you here to critique NHL uniforms or are you here to tell us no one cares about hockey? Come on. These comments bring zero value to the discussion.

Yeah, I know. I read it wrong.

lol at the Rags as a centerpiece of MSG, they're third on the depth chart behind the Knicks and Everything Else
I don't know, they're doing fine. They sell out every game. Dolan does literally nothing regarding the Rangers except sign checks. They've been by far the more successful of the two MSG franchises. Honestly, I'd take being third on MSG's depth chart any day of the week.

Good thing that doesn't apply to next year
Lmao. I read that wrong. Carry on.

I'm just shocked that this is the direction the team has chosen to take -- the last time they had a "modern" alternate was the Lady Liberty jerseys, which were last worn on a regular basis in 2007. This is the first time since then that they've had a jersey that wasn't meant to look like it's 100 years old (excluding the 2014 Stadium Series jersey, which they just ripped off of the AHL team). Still not sure how I feel about the design, I'll reserve judgement until I see it on the ice.

Here's the marketing spiel if anyone wants to read it:

And there it is.

The crazy story behind the navy blue jerseys was to make their road uniforms differ from Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks at the time. How crazy is that?
I always heard it's because they kept losing big games in royal blue, including Super Bowl V and the NFC Championship Game the year before, so they felt the previous uniforms were cursed.

For what it's worth, what can be considered to look "professional" in any sport has become a thing of the past (for example: more monocolor looks and new alternate helmets in American football, no more home/road designations in the NBA, more teams using non-gray jerseys on the road in the MLB).
I don't mind the look, I think colored helmets can look good on the right white sweaters, and I don't really notice anything "less professional" about it other than it's not what the status quo is. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing some triple mismatch here and there on some teams. As an admission, I liked the general look of the uniforms when the Kings wore chrome domes. Sure, it was a bit too flashy, but the color balance worked well, and IMO looked better than white black or white helmets could achieve for the look.
Horrible take imo. I feel like the NHL is the most "professional"- looking league left. When colored helmets with white jerseys is the most revolutionary development in the NHL's aesthetics, you're talking about a pretty traditional league. And even if "professional" looks were a thing of the past, that's not an excuse to then say "No one else is doing things that make sense, I'll do something completely random as well!"

How silver and blue should be done in Dallas.
Right - the key here (to me) is silver and royal blue, not silver and navy blue. The addition of the navy jersey in 1981 is what started them down this path.

Neither of them playing on a short week certainly seems to be helping.
Yeah, I've seen articles from players talking about how they don't have time to recover from a Sunday game before TNF, so their bodies aren't ready for the game, which contributes to the sloppiness.

No kidding. I get excited about watching TNF now because it's the only time when I am watching the NFL that my 65" 4K TV gets to strut its stuff. The quality of FOX and CBS broadcasts (unless you're getting their flagship game) is horrendous.
Any excitement about TNF that I have is canceled out by Al Michaels literally not caring about a single thing that goes on in the game. Seriously, he's an all-time great broadcaster, but he sounds like he doesn't want to be there.

But hold up—what's Anthony Duclair doing in San Jose teal???
He really went from the Stanley Cup Finals to one of the worst teams of the cap era

Props to the Seahawks for all committing to proper socks, complete with the white on the bottom.

Hopefully tonight's TNF game is better than the last few -- both teams actually have a full week of rest since both played on Thanksgiving.

I remember that. It was when fans couldn't watch at the stadium.
Did the Rams stop using the bone at home?
Last time they did was against the Falcons last season.

The Rangers seem to be finally releasing the third jerseys that everyone's already seen. Interested to see what the schedule for the third jersey will be.

I have to say, Arizona's road uniform as looked much better than I anticipated. The one thing I feared was that the shiny material would make the silver sometimes appear as white depending on lighting, but that hasn't been the case in most times I have seen highlights. It's a really nice modern iteration of a classic look -- almost how soccer teams like to re-imagine (well, kind of have to out of necessity) their iconic kit conventions, Arizona did a nice job, in hindsight, of giving us a re-imagined version of their classic look, instead of simply reverting. The choice to keep the grey facemask to bring the combo together was contrarian, but thoughtful.
Can't say as many nice words about the home.
I simply cannot consider supporting Arizona's new set until they wear something other than monochrome.

Can the Rams please wear their yellow pants? Versus Browns in traditional brown over white, or even brown over orange; would be great matchup!

Why on earth are they wearing white at home in December

This photo isn’t exactly an accurate representation of how most players wear the uniform. I still agree though.
It isn't, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show how the white throwback is supposed to be worn. It'll never happen outside of 2-3 players a game, but I applaud them for keeping proper socks alive.

It really isn't necessary. Again, the whole point of the 49ers current uniforms is that they're basically what they wore in the 80s with a few minor tweaks. Plus, a red facemask will remind us 49ers fans of the dark ages, more than anything.

2023-24 NHL Jersey Changes
in Sports Logo News

Absolutely. As I said before, nearly every alternate and special jersey design the Rangers have made have been designed to look like they're 100 years old. There's a reason for that. They're a classic franchise that has no need for something this gimmicky.
In the modern age of third jerseys, here's each O6 team's alternate jerseys:
Red Wings:
Never had one
Canadiens:
2006-07: 1940s white jersey
Blackhawks:
1996-97 to 2008-09: Black alternate with main crest
2009-10: 2009 Winter Classic jersey
Maple Leafs:
1998-99 to 2010-11: 1960s white jersey
2011-12 to 2015-16: 1967 blue jersey
2021-22 to present: BFBS
Rangers:
1996-97 to 1997-98, 1999-00 to 2006-07: Lady Liberty blue
1998-99: Lady Liberty white
2010-11 to 2016-17: Heritage fauxback
2023-24: This thing
Bruins:
1995-96 to 2005-06: Pooh Bear
2006-07: Bobby Orr era black
2008-09 to 2015-16: Bear logo alternate
2016-17: 2016 Winter Classic jersey
2019-20 to 2022-23: Varsity B Letter
2023-24: Special 100th anniversary alt
Out of those, the only alternates I'd consider to be "modern" are the Pooh Bear, Lady Liberty, Leafs BFBS, and this jersey. Otherwise, it's mostly all throwbacks, fauxbacks, and standard alternates that don't try to push the envelope in any way.
