If it was up to me, they'd wear these full-time, with the 1970s/80s red jerseys as the 3rd. If you really want to get funky with it throw in an alternate black helmet with a Dirty Birds throwback.

That they have one of the best uniforms in the league, and they only wear it as an occasional throwback.

Reminds me of the mask that Teiji Honma wore for Japan at the 1936 Olympics. I can't tell from the pictures I've seen if he's wearing round-framed glasses under the mask or if that's part of the mask itself.

I get that the players like to wear compression tights or thigh-highs or whatever they like, but surely someone somewhere can come up with tights in appropriate team colors for these guys to wear. I bet they can even make some with stripes to match the teams uniform socks (if applicable).

Front numbers never really bothered me in and of themselves, but they're pretty unnecessary. The number is already on the back of the jersey, both sleeves and the front and back of the helmet.

The white pants are terrible, and the blue helmets on top of it make them look like a minor junior team that can only afford one set of helmets. Same jersey with blue pants and white helmet would look fine. Still think they should have a yoke on the white jersey, but I could live without it.

Yet somehow still a HUGE upgrade for him.

Bottom right is Jim Brown at Syracuse, and that's actually a clear plexiglass mask he's wearing in that picture.

Those were the best part of that uniform set. They should have an alt with the lighthouse as the crest, but you know, Lou.

Yeah, since the Sabres' RR is white they could be wearing it against the opponent's RR in almost every case, but they probably won't.

Seems silly that the Sabres plan on wearing their RR on the road for several games, but they're not going to wear it at Washington on 1/3 when they'll be wearing their RRs.

A shoulder yoke, like they used on the original white goathead jersey, would have helped with that.

The C is pretty much invisible from any kind of distance. Maybe a white C with navy outline would be better. Also would match the numbers on the orange jersey.

I heard former Bills C Eric Wood on the pre-game last week talking about uniforms. Basically the way he described it, the big guys on the team pretty much knew they looked terrible in most of the uni combos they were asked to wear, but were at the mercy of what the skill players thought were .

Supposedly Diggs asked for white over white for the game in Baltimore, and they won, so I'd absolutely expect them to do that again this week in KC.

They only lasted a couple of years in the early '80s. They didn't provide much friction when you fell on the ice in them, so players would slide into the boards harder than they would in traditional breezers and socks. Only two NHL teams wore them, the Flyers and the Whalers. The Whale ditched them after a year, the Flyers kept them for 2 years.
