I've history been to San Antonio a few times, but is legit the first time I've seen or heard of SATX, as a thing or otherwise... ...now that I'm far more familiar with. I suppose it ain't the worst thing in the world for the Spurs to try to market themselves to ATX as well, being that the two locals are what, 80 miles from each other? For their sake, I hope it works out for them.

Depending on who you ask/talk to, it can range pretty widely. For me, though, I like to start with what I used to call "Ericcson cellphone blue", otherwise known as the Carolina Panthers blue (those of you old enough to remember those old Nokia-type cellphones on DigiphPCS know exactly why I called it that): I could also include the Detroit Lions' Honolulu blue in this too, although different lighting makes their color appear kidna all over the place. (In fact I kinda would like the Lightning to adopt a hue closer in value to Honolulu than royal.)

There has to be some kind of San Diego connection to this--I don't know, but a [guy cosplaying as a] real live friar strikes me as highly ironic...

Totally off to the side, but I've been hoping for the longest time that KU will base their next full-scale rebrand around the circus typeface/lettering--oh and bring back the actual Jayhawk in prominent form, too. That Trajan font been done got long in the tooth...

I personally would have liked to see Memphis adopt black/yellow with some trim of either silver/charcoal or their current light blue (the way they currently use their yellow). To me that colorway fits "Grit & Grind" moreso than their current one...

Curious, since I know exactly jack about their history... just how did (the U. of?) Akron come into using a kangaroo as their athletic mascot, anyway?

It's not working for me either-- then again, Verizon's network isn't working for me right now either, haha-- but I'll take your word for it. Interesting tidbit of trivia about this: according to NFL Films, apparently, none other than the expansion soon-to-be-0-26 Tampa Bay Buccaneers started that trend during their first minicamp, since no one really knew who anyone was at the time. Funny (yet still practical) that it's become a full-blown thing now.

I don't think that's temporary; to me, that's both planned and intentional. Observe below... Yes...done with a strip of tape or a bigger label either typed or handwritten--in this case, which covers the existing helmet stripe. Now observe below... That helmet stripe is cut to accommodate the player name. That to me is on purpose, and given how everything else about this unison design seems to mimic combat uniforms, I'll bet that's being tested to be permanent. Plus, look how small that type is--no way you're reading that from more than about two feet away, certainly not from a glance across the field. As to the possible inspiration, well..we'll... Mind you, that was the now-outdated PASGT k-pod bucket; once the ACH came out around '03ish or so with the night vision scope clip affixed to the front, we obviously stopped wearing the name bands and ranks on the front. But yeah, I can clearly see where they dredged up those design ideas from. In the grand scheme of things, that detail of Turner's helmet doesn't bother me--not as c much as the whole rest of the brand does. (I may feel a concept design coming on...and I ain't done one in a looonnnggg time...)

It might shock you, but there's a few more there than most realize. Not that it makes a big difference...in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change much. I mean, they could move up here to South Dakota...there's about as many Jag fans here as there are there (seriously--there's a LOT of Jags fans up here)...but let me quit cooking up wild fantasies.

That just shows you how comparatively weak this year's QB draft class is compared to recent years. (It also helps that not every media source known to mankind is screaming out of every orifice possible about how absolutely positively unequivocally essential it is that every team MUST have a standout QB--but I'll save that vice for another day.) I like what New York period did with their first two rounds thus far. Two of the biggest personalities in CFB--both DEs, by the way--went to THE perfect place...well, city/market, anyway...to allow them to shine, speaking of Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jermaine Johnson. Those two should have quite the rivalry going for a while--and if they pan out, New York as a whole wins. I'm actually very intrigued by this pick--but from a different angle. Up to this point Ryan Tannehill really never had any competition for his spot (and remember he was originally signed as a backup, until Marcus Mariota got the hook). I don't know if the Russell Wilson trade rumors did anything to him this offseason, but this pick definitely should. If this doesn't light a fire under him to produce beyond "good enough to not lose", dude is done after this season. And now back to my QB gripe: 104M for four seasons...of that. I don't dislike Tannehill--he seems to be a pretty good guy--but somewhere between him and Todd Downing, something's gotta wake up. And speaking of Downing, that may be the place where Malik Willis suffers. Downing is not only not creative, but inconsistent and thus predictable--witness Tennessee's quick exit against Cincinnati for empirical proof. But, the one silver lining in all of that is that it took Arthur Smith a season or two for it to "click" as well, and now he a whole head coach. Funny how that happens, isn't it? (And yet somehow two straight Tennessee OCs have been plucked to be HCs elsewhere...funny thangs be goin' on down there in Nashville.)

Commensurate with that... Now I'm not sure how to feel about this one. On the one hand, AJB wanted his bag, and understandably so. (He wanted a long-term deal, as I understand it, and wasn't willing to do an extension.) From the business side, I suppose Tennessee wasn't willing to pony up what Philly did, so the business of replacing veteran talent with rookie replacements showed up and well, bye-bye AJ--who, might I add, was really the only consistent weapon Tennessee had on offense all year. (And even he missed some time due to injury.) Well...perhaps Tennessee's defense may cns run it back, but we'll have to see how Treylon Burks develops. I saw some of him last year and he looks pretty good--but that's a gamble of a risk on incoming draftees versus proven veteran. My immediate thought is that Tennessee ain't getting back to the AFC title game anytime soon...but furthermore, what does all this mean for Derrick Henry going forward? I mean, that's a big boy...but they better he careful about running him into the ground while letting Burks develop. (That's another reason they should have kept D'Onta Foreman, to spell Henry for a while...but oh well.)

Thought 1: there's already one major Bulldog team put there that uses red and black. Thought 2: There's also only so many ways you can render one of the single most ubiquitous animal mascots out there. Conclusion: they absolutely SMASHED this clear out the park out past the water...this is one of thr most unique renderings I've seen, and definitely one of the best bulldog marks anywhere. (Varsity Partners cooked this one up, for anyone curious...same collective that gave us that stellar St. Peter's peacock logo and athletic brand identity.)

You're probably thinking of the former Hoosier Dome/RCA Dome...Lucas Oil isn't connected to anything (unless they've built a new skywalk inside the last calendar year or two I'm unaware of). Back to Nashville....by now it shouldn't be any big secret that for years it's been positioning itself as an (if not THE) entertainment mecca, between sports and music. This new stadium would only help that out; as some have said, the allure of a new football stadium (not that Bridgestone Arena couldn't accommodate this--but but big brand new shiny objects and such!) would also rope in other concerts, Final Fours, maybe some future Stadium Series games, and who knows what else. (Of course, it'd have to be enclosed for all that to really be a possibility.) And all that as several suitors in/from/living in the city are also in the midst of trying to draw major league baseball to town, in pretty much the same area as the current Nissan Stadium now--never mind the AAA Sounds team that just got a $60M new stadium built over by Germantown a few years back. Or NSC's soon-to-be new venue down toward Wedgewood...jus' sayin'.

The issue with the Panthers is that they're trying to fit a TV number, a sleeve stripe AND a logo on the same sleeve cap. They can solve that issue by simply removing the logos from the sleeves and either moving the TV numbers under the stripes or moving the stripe down a little to retain the TV number. (Or removing the TV numbers altogether, though I personally wouldn't care for that option.)

Indeed there is! Most who've known me around here for years know I grew up a Tampa Bay fan--in fact, my dang screen name around here used to be Buc. Still considering changing it back, especially in light of my beloved creamsicle orange coming back (that's the uniform I grew up with--the pewter and red showed up my sophomore year of high school). Oh and my cousin just so happens to be that team's all-time leading tackler and HoF alumnus--he wore #55. Jacksonville became my team B about six seconds after Jacksonville somehow won their expansion bid, being that Jacksonville is five hours east of my hometown (by the way, born-and-raised native Floridian here). So here's where things get interesting: I got sent into exile relocated to Indiana in 2010 (after living a year outside Baltimore. .after seven years living in Pittsburgh) and for four years followed the Colts since they were less than 15 minutes up the road from me. 2014 came and I moved down to Nashville...it took some doing but I decided to immerse myself into the Predators/Titans fandom (this was before Marcus Mariota was drafted, btw). Now you may be noticing a theme with the three teams: they're all in the same division. The part I left out was my short sojourn in Houston before all that--but I never once gave a passing thought to the Texans or any other Houston team. So I've actually covered the entire AFC South. Fast forward to 2019 into 2020 and I moved up here to South Dakota. Funnily enough, there are LOTS of Jaguars fans up here, which completely dumbfounded me. Why? Well...people really like the color teal there. That's it. That's what I keep getting told...they like the colors. (As do I, as as been the case their entire existence.) So all that kinda circled me back around to breaking back out my Jacksonville swag. But none of that explains Minnesota...what does explain Minnesota is that a/ I've always kinda liked the Vikings (or at least never hated them, and that goes back to Warren Moon's time in Minnesota), and b/ where I live now is a little under four hours from MSP, so naturally I get all the Vikings games on network TV now. So that's how that happened....and there's your story.

Let 'em ride then! I guess if there's one certifiable improvement in the Nike joints over the previous jerseys, it's that the sleeve caps can indeed accommodate the stripes. I guess I just ain't paid much attention since none of the teams I see/follow most have any (Jacksonville, Tennessee, Tampa, and Minnesota.)

Good points. Of course, those are all "skill position" players--what about the big guys in the trenches? (And probably half the LBs in the league, too.)
