  1. Yeah and that "soft foe" nearly beat them mofos, too, so... And the Colt Carousel of QBs continues--if they don't watch it, they gon' end up with a list about as long as Cleveland's...
  2. Walmart jerseys look better than that.... ....Guys look like they should be out on the ramp marshaling aircraft traffic with those. And is that Kelly Olynyk back there in the background???
  3. Apparently Mike McDaniel done decided to sit in on a few Clock (Mis)Management courses... ...Wonder if in all their adulation of McDaniel being a "unique personality" they bring up the last drive of this half. Sure they got a FG out of it, but geez, my guy...that there was not it.
  4. They are...both of them. The drama with Rodgers is known and has been known; if we're annoyed by it, one can only imagine how the guys in that locker room must feel about it/him. But let's talk about LaFleur for a sec...here's where I remind that LaFleur even got that job off the strength of the offensive man-monster that is Derrick Henry...for exactly ONE season...with Marcus Mariota as his QB. (Sidebar, but how in the world have the Snatit gotten two OCs promoted to HC?? Oh yeah--Henry. Well it's safe to say Tood Downing will not be the third--then again if Arthur Smith can get the call, then...anyway) All of this is to say that even though LaFleur may have a good record as HC, remember that two of the teams in his division have been about as guaranteed gimme-wins as one could ask for. But now I think dude's being exposed a good bit. I guess what I'm saying in so many words is that at present I'm not convinced LaFleur is a particularly good HC...
  5. That was the only salvageable part of that particular uniform set...TBH, I keep forgetting it existed until I see photos of it. Anyway, to the point of the teal-flaked helmet, I really liked that idea, as well. I personally wouldn't mind seeing it come back in the Jaguars' next uniform life (and I'm 99.999999999% positive there will be one). I feel like the only other team that could successfully pull this effect off would be the Ravens--and it'd be even more apropo for then being that actual ravens have iridescent feathers than sheen purplish in the right light. I see the Cardinals trying, but a/ I don't think their alt black helmets have enough flake effect and b/ even if they did, it looks like they ordered those helmets extra glossy with a side of gloss, and all that extra shine just cancels out the effect (and their own logo).
  6. Bottom uniforms + Machine Block numbers from the top minus the dropshadows = winner. (Seriously, those Peyton Manning forehead numbers have got to go....)
  7. And if they still have them, their purple pants. It feels like I haven't seen Clemson in purple pants since forever. (Also, possibly unpopular opinion, but Clemson doesn't use purple anywhere near enough for it and orange being the unique colorway that it is....)
  8. Actually, this was their original all-black set: (Technicality, I know. ) As strange as it looked at the time, I remember really liking how against that black background the teal took a backseat and the gold popped off that set...in my mind, that's what a true alternate was supposed yo achieve. I do wish they would have changed the gold in the sleeve cuffs to teal, though. This set debuted around the same time as the Washington Capitals' third jerseys, and looked remarkably similar in terms of color usage--that's probably another rain I was so enamored with the Jags' alternates then and even now, now that I'm looking back at this.
  9. I really feel like New Orleans and Memphis are the new blood in the West (well Memphis ain't really new blood--they've been here before--but still). That tear the Pelicans went on during the latter half of last season was certainly telling; I hope for their fans' sake--and so the talking heads can have some new blood to fawn over...well, besides Zion and Ja--they can keep that up. And yes, New Orleans is DEEP with talent and role players, as is Memphis (though not quite as solid as the Pels, IMO). This much is for sure: both those squads are gonna be a problem the the league for a good while to come...and I'm all for it.
  10. Agreed. To my knowledge the Lightning are the only other team that's had some type of "specialized" stripe on their breezers...I've long wondered if/when other teams would pick up on this. (So long as it makes sense for their overall visual identity.) The Storm jerseys are definitely in that special category of "cult classics" (along with the original fish-sticks Isles jerseys) alongside the first live-action Street Fighter movie and certain MK3/UMK3/MKT fatalities: so campy and beyond comical; yet despite that for some reason we just can't help ourselves but to indulge in them anyway
  11. Not yet this season, but they have done it several times in the five years (!!!) that they've had this set:
  12. I love it. Everything about it. I want it to come back permanently...ALL of it. I don't think y'all understand just how much I love this...that era of Capitals branding is what even got me into all this logo/uniform stuff in the first place! I loved it then as a young middle-schooler, still love it to this day. My favorite NHL team back then, still to this day (as I've said MANY times) my single favorite identity/uniform set in sports history, bar none. Details like that (added to what we've seen from Vegas' and Seattle's brand identities) are exactly why the hockey design team at adidas is the absolute best team in the business. Y'all please fight to keep the NHL contract beyond 2024!!! I don't know if I wanna like this or hate this. I know if it came out today it'd be among the most garish things I've ever seen, so...
  13. So, the Grizzls were back in action on opening night.. against the Knicks, in Memphis. Twas a good game...went into overtime and everything. Probably most surprising (to me) is that both teams actually wore their primary sets--Memphis wore their primary home whites, New York their primary away blues (miss me with the association/icon stuff). I noticed the Knicks had some good--no GREAT--ball movement, which freed up some wide open looks; that's also how they got back in the game, took it to overtime, and nearly took it to a second OT. On the other side, especially in the closing quarter, I noticed iso and more iso...and it reminded me of why it seemed last season that the Grizzlies played even better as a team with Ja Morant out the lineup than in it. Yes, dude is a problem on the offensive side, and he did contribute nine helpers to go along with his 38 points (I think it was)...but I also counted five turnovers in the fourth period and overtime, five completely unnecessary turnovers at that. He's gonna have to learn to be more careful with his ballhandling if that team is to take the next step...those turnovers led to open opportunities for the Knicks to get back in the game. All that said, Memphis won in front of what looked like a packed-out Forum, so that's good at least.
  14. Game's gonna look like an intrasquad scrimmage... ...Btw, Syracuse now has my favorite [primarily] orange CFB uniforms in the country. Just to throw that out there..
  15. There's so many ways I could go with this current tangent of discussion--BUT, for the sake of all our collective sanity (& to save some feelings up in here), I think it's best if we ALL drop this whole tangent right now before things really go off a cliff...
  16. And while we're discussing hockey aesthetics, not that I've ever really paid it close mind before, but the more I look at this set, the more I'm inclined to declare this among--maybe even arguably as--the very best uniforms in the league. I know the sleeve number treatment may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's their thing, it works--but that orange and white just pop off that black so vividly, so simply. Just great to look at.
  17. More than familiar--at the time it was actually one of my favorite jerseys, specifically because of that logo. I don't know that I'd say that if it came out today, but from a technical and execution standpoint, the Mooterus logo itself is far better crafted than that...whatever that's supposed to be on Nashville's RR above. (I know it's supposed to be a saber-toothed tiger or something to that effect, but...still.)
  18. I'm still trying to ascertain how THAT got signed off on as a major pro sports team logo...woof.
  19. So um, about that... ...Anybody want more goals? Check out the recap of Bruins/Senators...it was like 6-5 after the second period, final score 7-5 Sens. (Side note: There's some dude surnamed Zub on the Sensquad, #2. Might be the coolest little weird name I see this year.)
  20. Yeah, the molehills [some] people make mountains out of around here--and then plant flags, pitch tents, build fires and will themselves to die on--never ceases to amaze me. This is just the latest case...
  21. I still don't like those Nemo pants (or in the case of that photo, shorts)...they're the equivalent to the triple-striped white and gray pants the Giants opted for over the simple (and superior) braisher-striped gray pants: superfluous and unnecessary. If Cincinnati 86s those (and IMO had a better, less-obviously-chop-jobbed number font), their sets would be right up there with LAC as the absolute best in the league, bar none.
  22. Again?? Man I need to play a lottery ticket this week! Let's see if I can get lightning to strike thrice... Week 7 schedule: New Orleans vs. Arizona Cleveland vs. Baltimore Tampa Bay vs. Carolina Atlanta vs. Cincinnati* Detroit vs. Dallas NY Giants vs. Jacksonville Green Bay vs. Washington Indianapolis vs. Tennessee Houston vs. Las Vegas NY Jets vs. Denver Kansas City vs. San Francisco Seattle vs. LA Chargers Pittsburgh vs. Miami Chicago vs. New England *I guess that could be considered an upset special??
  23. These East Carolina throwback sets are SHARP. The announcers mentioned a senior student at ECU designed them, Will Somebody. Meanwhile Memphis out there looking like the Memphinnati Jungle Kats...
