  1. I don’t hate these as much as I probably should. I wouldn’t buy one, but if you’re going to go bold with a design, the All Star Game is the time to do it. I also prefer having 4 different jerseys instead of 2. I’m calling it now, give it 30 years and these will be seen as beloved classics.
  2. I have a feeling Bieber (or at least his drew house line) was involved in designing this year's All Star uniforms.
  3. Yes, but they had already switched to athletic gold at home by that point.
  4. Well, sort of. In 2016 they designated the black throwback as their home jersey, and wore it throughout the playoffs. In 2017 they introduced the white throwback to match the home look,
  5. https://www.espn.com/nhl/insider/insider/story/_/id/39271187/nhl-trade-cutter-gauthier-flyers-ducks-details It's not too often that we see a proper NHL trade these days, let alone one involving a couple of recent top 10 picks. Credit to the Flyers for keeping everything quiet, since it sounds like they've been sour on Gauthier since he skipped development camp in the summer. It would be pretty funny if he legitimately wanted out of Philadelphia because of his childhood allegiance to the Penguins.
  6. The Pittsburgh Penguins won back to back Stanley Cups in '91 & '92, then changed their uniforms for the '93 season. They came close to completing the three-peat, finishing 1st overall in the regular season, but got upset in the playoffs. It could have been an even rarer instance of back to back championships with different logos/uniforms.
  7. As someone who owns both a pullover and a buttoned jersey, I definitely prefer the buttoned one. But I guess I do also like to wear button down short sleeved shirts in general during the summer, so it comes down to personal preference.
  8. Nicest black jersey the Bolts have had since their originals. Looks like the striping might be inspired by the old underarm victory stripes.
  9. The Winter Classic as a whole has gone from a celebration of the history & traditions of the sport to more of a regional celebration, especially when you have a market that's hosting for the first time. That's why we've seen players go from wearing old school suits and fedoras to the game to dressing like fish market employees, Elvis impersonators, and oil rig workers.
  10. Considering all the trademark issues they dealt with when they were coming up with their name, I feel like they wouldn't want to use something so similar to another team's logo.
  11. I feel like the Kraken would’ve had lawyers sign off on the jerseys before putting them into production. They seemed to stray just far enough away from the Metropolitans jersey to keep everything kosher. The S shape is based on their primary logo, it says KRAKEN instead of SEATTLE, and they used their normal colour scheme.
  12. I don’t think you realize what a hard reboot is. You make it sound like the current Rams look has 0 redeemable qualities and they need an entirely new colour scheme, logos, and uniforms. It's definitely far from perfect, but I think they’re just a few tweaks away from a great set. The top priorities should be getting rid of the gradients, dumping the bone (which they’re already doing), and ditching the monochrome looks. I can live with the segmented horn & the chest patches.
  13. I’m aware that they all weren’t sleeved, but most of the Christmas Day jerseys were lazy and generic. One year they literally just took the normal jerseys, swapped the wordmark for a logo, and moved the nameplate below the numbers. Say what you want about the city jerseys, at least Nike lets each team come up with unique designs.
  14. Not according to social media. I’ve seen at least half a dozen nostalgia bait posts about how the NBA needs to go back to special Christmas uniforms, mainly due to LeBron tweeting about it. I figured it was inevitable that people would get nostalgia for the sleeved Adidas jerseys, but it feels like it’s happened sooner than I expected.
  15. The italic KINGS wordmark with the speed lines from the Gretzky era is pretty much identical to the Lakers logo. My ideal Kings logo would be a black & silver version of the crown from this logo:
  16. It definitely was. A few days before the end of the tournament the reports were that the Lakers weren't planning on hanging a banner if they won, since they don't even hang banners for conference championships. Silver obviously wanted them to acknowledge it, and I guess they compromised by having one banner that they can add more years to if they end up winning it again. The fact that they decided to put it with the Minneapolis banners shows you how the organization feels.
  17. Should've happened a long time ago, but I'm pretty surprised they pulled the trigger in the middle of a long road trip. I think this season is too far gone to salvage, but at the very least fans will get some nostalgia seeing Martin & Alfie behind the bench. Hopefully he can get rid of the bad defensive habits that developed under Smith.
  18. I suppose, but the Angels have always seemed to avoid branding themselves as an LA team, even if it's technically their name.
  19. I've always thought that if the Yankees had to have an alternate, it would make sense to use the Yankees script that's been frequently used on their dugout jackets. I don't know if it would make sense as a CC, since it doesn't say New York, but it wouldn't look out of place alongside the pinstripes.
  20. Does this only apply to teams who use piping along the placket? The Yankees posted a picture of Soto's jersey in the team store, and the MLB logo is in the usual place. Unless they're still selling jerseys on the old template.
  21. Well it looks like Monumental was successful in using the Virginia threat as leverage.
  22. Looks like the league is pretty much forcing them to do this. Early reports were that the Lakers wouldn't do it if they won, as their policy has always been championship banners only. I understand why Silver would want them to do it from a business sense, as it provides more legitimacy to this tournament, but it's a bit of a joke that a franchise that doesn't consider conference or division titles banner worthy is doing it.
  23. In their final season as the Mighty Ducks, Anaheim wore their old wordmark alternate during the playoffs. The Sabres wore throwbacks during the playoffs in 2007. Minnesota broke out the green alternates for the playoffs when they were still using the red jersey as the primary home look. The year the Lady Liberty jersey was introduced the Rangers wore it during the playoffs.
  24. The circumstances surrounding the team are very different now than they were in '97. Clemens was brought in to a team that had been coming off 3 straight losing seasons, at a time when the Canadian dollar was about to hit an all time low. The Jays had the 7th highest payroll in baseball last season, and despite a disappointing playoff exit they had been a popular pre-season pick to make the World Series. They've got some great young talent, and have had 4 straight seasons above .500, which hasn't happened since '93. They've already shown they're willing to spend on high end talent, landing big name free agents like Springer, Gausman, and Ryu.
  25. The semi-finals also count as regular season games. The two finalists will finish the year having played 83 games, but every other team will have played 82. I do wonder how the league will classify stats being put up in the final game. Will they be lumped together with playoff stats? Regular season? A completely new category?
