  1. I'd say it's better for them to play in the market they've called home for 120 years. Based on your logic, shouldn't the Mets be moved out of NYC?
  2. You brought up a completely irrelevant jersey. I was asking if you prefer the flat beige over the metallic gold, not which Penguins jersey is your favourite.
  3. So you're telling me you prefer this shade of gold: Over this?
  4. Shameless had a few nods to the Sox, which makes sense considering South Side pride was a main source of identity for a lot of the characters. Although I'm pretty sure the cast sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley at some point.
  5. Well there are only 6 MLB franchises without a World Series, and we could see 4 of them make the playoffs, so it seems like better odds than most years.
  6. As much as people love clowning on Tom Dundon & the Bunch of Jerks mentality, he really has managed to turn things around in Carolina. Obviously a lot of that comes from having the longest stretch of consistency on the ice, but I'm glad to see some stability for a market that was close to losing their team less than 10 years ago. I've been to PNC before, and having some dining/entertainment options surrounding the rink should help a lot. It sounds like they'll be keeping a lot of the parking, so the tailgating won't be stopping.
  7. I guess it's fitting to have teams look unrecognizable when they win this pointless tournament. They really aren't trying to fight the gimmicky nature of the whole thing.
  8. Well that's a bit of an oversimplification. If Barstool ever decides to sell again Penn will get a 50% cut. They also had to agree to a non-compete clause which means Barstool is out of the gambling business for good. Funny that Penn realized quickly it was a mistake to partner with the Stoolies so decided to partner with ESPN, who also happened to go through the same situation when they tried working with Barstool. They were being denied gaming licenses because Portnoy & co. were frequently violating regulations. Some of the major rules around being a gambling operator are that you cannot promote it as a way to make money, can't imply a certain bet is going to win, and can't encourage people to bet more than they can afford to lose. When you have the face of your brand describing himself as a "degenerate gambler" and encouraging people to "bet your house" on a particular game, that's going to ruffle some feathers with the regulators. The "players will start throwing games" argument has always seemed a bit overblown to me. There's way too much to lose for athletes these days, so it just isn't worth it to risk your career. The main reason for the Black Sox scandal was that the players were being paid peanuts and saw it as their only chance to make some real money. Now most athletes are millionaires who have to be more concerned with their public image. Also, having the market regulated means it would be much easier to catch any players/coaches doing anything shady. Instead of guys dealing with some barroom bookie or off-shore sports book their money goes through the government now.
  9. Glendale's problem was that it was about as far away from the season ticket base as possible while still being in the Phoenix-area. By this point anyone who's been paying attention to this saga should know that the team wants to be close to their fans in the East Valley. Mesa has double the population of Glendale, not to mention the proximity to Scottsdale, Tempe, etc.
  10. Packers one would have to be "White Cheddar".
  11. Well the Jazz will finally get to wear these alternate uniforms this season. Assuming they're a hit with the fans I'd expect the team to use them as the basis for the new set.
  12. I'm still confused about this. Is the white helmet going to be worn with the white jerseys every time, or did they just designate the white jersey/white pants as an alternate so they can break out the white helmets once in a while?
  13. Please, enlighten us on what a "real" Stanley Cup Final would look like
  14. Most Caps fans seem happy about this deal, but it isn't even going to kick in until he's 30. I'd say there's a near zero chance that he makes it to the end of this contract in Washington. I'm guessing either a buyout or he gets to live out his last days on LTIR.
  15. I've always thought that too. Bret Hart was known for his hair, so I assumed they did it as a tribute.
  16. There's a big difference between using an indigenous person as a mascot (plus using outdated terms/slurs as nicknames), and incorporating indigenous design into a logo. The Seahawks have used a First Nations-inspired logo for their entire existence, and obviously that's never been a problem.
  17. I'm thinking the V logo might go on the shoulders, with the Vegas wordmark being on the front of the jersey. A team using an alternate logo for Winter Classic merch isn't unprecedented.
  18. I believe it was a request from Chris Bassitt. I know last year Berrios had the team wear them for a couple of his starts too. Their record in the red isn't great, so fans are starting to hate them. I'm still assuming whatever they come up with for the City Connect will just be a more elaborate Canada Day style jersey.
  19. The Elks unveiled a new logo for their Indigenous Celebration game next week. It might be the nicest logo they have.
  20. While they aren't going full Metropolitans, I'm still hoping they use barberpole striping on the jerseys. *EDIT: I just realized that the Vegas logo is two swords forming the V
  21. I completely agree with you. On the '90s purple sunburst jersey white was only used for the script, numbers, and NoB. All the white in this set feels distracting, especially using a white script on a white jersey.
  22. The first RR would make a great alternate, but the Panthers should be a primarily red team. Maybe just take the inaugural jerseys and swap yellow for metallic gold.
  23. I feel like both of the Rangers reverse retros were just worse versions of the original Lady Liberty jersey. They were forced to make changes for change sake to get the jerseys to fit with the RR program, but now that it's a regular alternate they might as well just bring back the original one.
