I really loved how last night’s Civil War looked. I’ve always thought these games look best under the lights, especially when the game showcases as much color as last night’s did. I thought the Ducks’ white pants and socks really helped the overall contrast and helped to alleviate the highlighter-esque effect. Had the Beavs worn their black helmets and/or pants, I think this would’ve been my favorite color on color Civil War matchup yet.

Oregon should have worn yellow britches.

I see LSU is in “icy” all-white from head to toe against A&M. Second game in a row wearing white helmets and pants for them (wore purple jerseys against GA State).

I’m not at all an LSU fan, but sorry, they should never wear anything other than gold helmets and pants.  It just doesn’t look like LSU and the alternate white features aren’t better than the gold.

I like the idea of LSU trying out new uniform combos. It's not the norm for them, but it's a good look all the same.

Louisville lost to Pitt and Kentucky. Winning the ACC won't change anything. They're out. If Washington loses to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship, they're still ahead of Ohio State, IMO. One could argue the same for 2-loss Alabama and Texas, although that's far from a slam dunk.

My brain skipped over that first Louisville loss, but committee practice in the past has not put a 2 loss team in. Penn State was the best 2 loss team not put in. I can't see a two loss Alabama ahead of the Buckeyes, who would have been expected to win the Big Ten if they beat Michigan. Bama was lucky to survive Auburn who decided to rush two and spy a LB instead of sending him too. Texas would drop too, because of Oklahoma State's position in the rankings but I'm expecting a bump for them this week as well.

So I suppose it's going to annoy the hell out of everyone if a bunch of chaos happens again, and Ohio State sneaks back in?

(Washington gives Oregon a 2nd loss, Georgia gives Alabama a second loss, two loss Oklahoma beats Texas again,  and Florida State loses... who else could it be?)

Ohio State isn't getting back in because the weird amount of things that would have to happen, possibly even including Iowa beating Michigan in the Big Ten Championship, just aren't going to happen. Georgia winning would help, but I think Alabama will knock them off. Just a feeling, but I hope that's not the case. Florida State is unlikely to lose to Louisville, but if they do Louisville has a championship that should weigh more over Ohio State.

Cheaters never win! Three in a row for Michigan, this might be lights out for Ryan Day.

This idiots will want Meyer back or Hartline to take over, then complain if they lose again next year. Day has lost 7 games, and he's likely getting 2 of those back if any actual punishment comes to Michigan. They made due with the backup to the backup, Ewers would have been the starter this year, and still won 11 games. This is the classic example of fans who've had it too good.

Especially with the playoff field expanding.

I also wonder how crazy fans will be if both teams know they're in the Big Ten championship, since divisions go away next year. I don't think it's happening, but it's a possibility now.

I feel like I'm the only person that liked that Saints jersey.

If they wore this as the alternate with the new black helmet and pants instead of the throwback uniform with the black helmets, it'd be a good look. Even here it's a good look, but a black helmet improves it.

Speaking of color vs color, is someone going to make The Game color v. color? If USC/UCLA, Oregon/OSU can do it, surely Michigan and OSU can so long as they stay traditional

Probably not. Ohio State wore alternates for a few years, but unless that alt is the 1968 uniform most Buckeye fans want the standard look for The Game.

Checking the league Twitter accounts over the past couple weeks, the USFL seems to only be active for Michigan, Memphis, and Birmingham, which would align with the speculation of keeping the hub home teams and ditching the rest. All the XFL teams seem to still be active, so who knows from that half.

    Either way, tick-tick-tick.

I think we're about to his a hard deadline where they have to cut the cord and put off merging until 2025. To be fair, I think that's what they should have come out to do from the beginning. Also, the XFL is offering 60% off for all their gear this weekend. So if you wanted to get a jersey but couldn't justify the $190 price tag, it's $76 this weekend.

This was last year's game. At least Buffalo had black pants and helmets or they'd disappear:

Airbrushed helmets need to die a quick death... not a single one has ever looked good.

Navy's throwbacks and the Maryland flag helmets were good. But the idea that the designs have to look realistic rather than something closer to the design of Navy's regular logos takes away from otherwise good looks.

Since I was attached to 3ID in Iraq, I'll definitely be getting this jersey! It's beautiful. Also, some of the promotional photos look like they were taken at Fort Irwin, NTC, one of my favorite assignments in the Army. It's disappointing they'll still use the previous Nike template for fan jerseys, but it's not that big a deal. Fort Benning, now Fort Moore,  actually has it's own football team as well named the Doughboys. They traditionally play an exhibition game against Columbus State (GA) every year, and have also played the Marines in arena football games.

According to GUD, the third fauxback game is TNF Week 17 against the Jets. The Jets are guaranteed to be in green for that game since they already wore throwbacks twice this season and are wearing BFBS this Friday, which uses up their only remaining alternate slot.

    Thank Goodness!!!

White facemasks would be great. But what they really need to do is shed the final remaining vestige of the previous era (if they haven't already). They wore this uniform last year and I have no idea if they're supposed to this year:

It was apparently replaced by the throwback since it's being worn 3 times this season. I get the feeling the Brown color rush wasn't liked by the team because ever since introducing it in 2020 it's been worn a total of 3 times and 2021 didn't even have it. Not wearing a uniform the year after you introduce it is pretty much a sign they didn't really like it.

It looks like a practice uniform since the only thing with a design on it was the helmet. I think it's still available to be worn this year unless I missed the 3rd game with the fauxbacks. But hopefully it's never seen again.

Ugh... will be the guys seventh year.  Maybe I'm just an old man yelling at clouds but medical redshirt or not, I don't think this should be allowed.  I'd be in favor of a five year max, personally.  We've seen this year what a huge advantage having one of these sixth year QBs is.  I also think the extra covid year of eligibility was a mistake.

With many schools cutting down schedules and losing players week by week to illness, the Covid exemption made sense. To me, in the Rising case this is the same as the Mormons that go on missions for 2 years then come back to school for their last two years. Bo Nix is going to get a better paycheck next year because of the stats he put up this year because of the extra reps he got at Oregon, as opposed to playing in the USFL or XFL.

Is it just me or does it bug anyone else when LSU wears their white pants and helmets with the purple jerseys like tonight vs GA State? The purple jersey is already rare enough for LSU, but for some reason they have this weird obsession with pairing it with the white helmets and pants rather than the gold in recent years. The white helmets and jerseys are NOT superior to the gold.

Also, with as traditional and iconic as LSU’s uniforms are, any other “off” or gimmicky combo is just annoying and dumb.

It's an alternate look, so I have no issues with them wearing white helmets and pants.

I didn't like Arizona State rolling this look out. You already have a memorial patch on the jerseys. You also have other veterans other than Tillman that you can recognize as well. We know he's the most famous to die in combat, but the demagoguery that's paid to him is over the top.

No they shouldn’t. Athletes are revenue generators. Nothing more. Same with the coaches and AD.  The football coaches aren’t professors, and the players shouldn’t have to fake being students.

At the FBS/FCS level sports are money makers. Beyond that, they're nice things to have that bring attention to your school every year. Schools should find ways to make it affordable for students that aren't playing sports for them.

The benefit of having high-performing athletic departments to universities is clear enough and, frankly, there's a large enough separation between athletic departments and actual universities, that yes, schools would be wise to hire athletic directors with an eye on actually be as good as possible at sports, in my opinion.

Athletic departments at the top level aren't even run by schools anymore, they just use the facilities that the school supplies. Clemson even has the initials for its booster club on the football field. Texas A&M isn't even the one paying Jimbo's retirement fund. It's the Aggies boosters.

Perhaps a hot take here but the Cougs uniforms are fantastic, they just don't need that dark gray. I wish the Beavs could mix and match like WSU.

The previous set was better. I agree that dark grey shouldn't be used.

At least the A's will be a traveling circus with working plumbing in their clubhouse and at least a 78% reduction in opossums in the walls.

Maybe they can just travel with the Savanna Bananas since they're trying to hit every MLB ballpark next year.
