  1. Not sure what's worse. Piece of Nick Castellanos, or the way this PBP guy says his name, which is different than how everyone else in the world - including Castellanos does. Really tired of this guy. And the TV is ahead of the radio so no way to sync the local broadcast. Castellanos is one of the worst hitters I've ever seen, and that's not hyperbole. His entire approach is trash - both mentally and physically. He honestly looks like he's never played the game at any level before. He's been an automatic out all year, and at this point not only provides no protection to the hitter in front of him, but actively reduces their chances of winning. Can't even put balls in play to move runners or hope that there's errors. EDIT: Holy balls, what a play by Hicks. I'm obviously not rooting for the Cardinals, but that was incredible.
  2. And now the home plate umpire blows a K and puts a guy at first so Pujols can come up as the tying run. ARod is actually pretty good as an analyst. I like what he brings to the broadcast. The jabroni doing PBP is either half asleep or hasn't watched too much baseball. Really hope he doesn't get any more Phillies games if they're fortunate enough to get out of this and move on. EDIT: bull . Should be nobody on and two out, now it's two on with one out and the MVP batting for STL. And another bad call by the plate umpire. Makes me wonder if the league or ESPN wants to get one more game out of this series, or at least one more game for Pujols. Not seriously, but also not not seriously.
  3. If/when STL comes back to win this, this BS replay will be huge.
  4. Don't understand how replay gets it wrong. Harper was clearly safe at second base. Makes me wonder if they actually reviewed it, or if there's some communications issue and they just say "screw it, call stands". Should be 2nd and 3rd nobody out. Now STL is going to get out of this inning.
  5. Just realized that this Cardinals/Phillies series is a matchup of the only two teams that have chainstitched jerseys.
  6. Wow - turned it on just in time to see Seattle take the lead. Nothing against Toronto, but Go Mariners.
  7. Weird that the Phila/AZ game extends so far west in PA. I'd expect it to stop closer to Harrisburg, and not go as far north either. Also odd that there's that little patch of Maryland below Delaware. I guess that's just because of the range of whatever affiliate covers southern DE (which I wouldn't expect to care about the Eagles either since Wilmington or Newark would probably be the extent of the Phila sphere of influence.)
  8. That's fair. I tend to look at the game as a whole, and in my admittedly completely-arbitrary scoring system, if it hurts my eyes to watch a game then it doesn't matter if one team looks great. But that's just my system... which means nothing in this thread since it's not my list. Your way works too.
  9. And that picture looks really bad to me. Maybe if they had navy socks? I just can't see the Bears not having a lot of dark navy whenever they play, and the pants are really the only way to get that with the white jersey. You've obviously watched more Bears games than I have so the white on white is more normal to you, but it never will be for me. I think of it exactly like I used to when the R-words would go white on white rather than white on burgundy. White on burgundy was the look I grew up with, and white on white looked like a practice uniform to me, or like they forgot to bring the right pants.
  10. Disagree about the Bears wearing all white. Maybe since the first time I ever saw the Bears was in SBXX when they wore the navy pants, but that is the Bears road uniform to me and I personally find the all white to be distracting because it looks like a mistake. I thought I'd like those Giants throwbacks a lot more than I actually do. I'm not the biggest fan of their current look at all, but it's better for them than this particular throwback is. I will agree that the mismatch in blues (it kinda looks like even the navies are different... no?) makes it look odd. So much so that to me it wouldn't be in my personal top 5. I'd consider giving this an honorable mention: And either of the games with the mono-purple would get nods on the worst part.
  11. I'd give anything for Tnak to be reinstated right now.
  12. I don't need a season that goes till the end of February. Heck, I don't need a season that even gets to February. But I was at least used to that. I definitely don't need a season that starts on or before Labor Day weekend. I don't know if 16 was better than 14, because I never lived 14, but I do know that it was better than 17. 17 also devalues conference play, which is ironic because it also brought with it another WC team per conference, which you'd think would mean that there should be more emphasis on conference play.
  13. The tying run is on the on-deck circle and the crowd is sparce - and lots of Phillies fans. EDIT: now the tying run is at the plate. EDIT: LOL 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 6 6 5 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 1 3 5 0
  14. Is the Cardinals manager the dumbest MFer in the world? Talk about bullpen mismanagement - and now they don't even have a guy warming up and are essentially conceding a game that is by no means out of reach, especially considering where they are in the lineup. Oh, and LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL at the "BFiB" for flooding out of the stadium while it was still a 2 run game and their team still having an inning to come back. Total fraud of a fanbase. "Baseball heaven" my ass. The Cardinals can still come back and win this game, but this game really exposed the BFiB.
  15. Oh gods I didn't know AZ was going all black. This will be truly awful.
  16. When I was a kid, Cecil Fielder was the first player I ever "saw" hit 50 HR. Previous to him, it was George Foster, which was before my time. I remember at 13 thinking how incredible 50 was, and how unbelievable 60/61 was, and that I'd never in my lifetime see it. Then smaller parks and expansion lead to higher numbers among the clean guys, and obviously the steroids lead to absurd numbers by those guys. And they just ruined it. I feel very confident that unless there's another wave of new parks that are even more hitter friendly, or they expand to the point where there's even more lousy pitchers, or they move the mound back, we'll never see a "clean-ish" player hit 70. Judge just had one of the best seasons ever and just barely got to 62. I simply can't fathom anyone even sniffing 73. I remember I couldn't wait to get the next year's baseball cards just so I could see the "51" on Fielder's, because that's what made it "real" to me. If it wasn't on a baseball card, it didn't happen lol.
  17. No, because there's lots of things to do on Thursday nights besides watch football.
  18. Maybe it's just time to do away with HOFs. Not the museum aspect of it, but the notion of enshrining individual players. Have Bonds' bat from 73, Babe's uniform, hell - even a needle if you want. You can tell the story of the game without having a bunch of plaques of old players. And honestly - how many HOFers wouldn't have anything worth displaying? Does Harold Baines have anything in the HOF other than his bust? If not, maybe that's an indicator that he shouldn't have been let in.
  19. Eagles wearing white tops in their first trip to Arizona this year, and presumably green tops for their second.
  20. Nobody should be forced to alter their surname. That’s a little disrespectful. There’s other ways to handle it, even if they’re not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing or easy to do.
  21. I only know him because he started for the WFT vs the Eagles last season in a weird Tuesday Night Covid game. I think it was the only game he played in all of last season. He's not good.
