  1. Yeah. I have zero interest in a random StL Cardinals game, but if I can just flip to it then flip back to what I'm doing, I'll watch an at-bat. But tuning into it takes longer than the at-bat lasts, then having to do that repeatedly is not worth it.; And it's not just living in "an area that doesn't have great internet service". I volunteer with lots of kids who's families get free "educational service" (or something like that) because they can't afford the kind of service that most of us take for granted. It's basically good enough for remote learning and googling, but I doubt they can play high-bandwidth games or stream in HD. It would be great for those kids - most of whom are from the black and brown community - to see Pujols hit 700 (or major moments like that in general) but while it normally would be available on their subsidized cable package, in this case it was taken away to be shown to a more exclusive audience (with sub-par broadcasters). If baseball wants to grow the game and get on the radar of an underrepresented talent pool, this is the wrong way to do it.
  2. I watch Apple TV+ all the time, but there’s still plenty of people who don’t/won’t use streaming services, (either they’re older, or can’t afford high-speed internet connection) and given the general inconvenience and problems flipping channels, if it’s not my team, I’m simply not going to watch - and I’m sure I’m far from alone.
  3. I don’t know about the Mike Evans situation, but it’s ironic because John Runyan Sr. was one of the dirtier players when he played, and was flagged for a million personal fouls (or should have been). Along with McNabb, his signing was really the catalyst for the Eagles 5-11 to 11-5 turnaround in 2000, but by his own admission he played past the whistle and I think he even said that he hated the discipline department.
  4. I'm not sure why the networks would be talking about Rodgers, Brady, or the dumpster fire in Dallas if it's down to Tua and Hurts in the Super Bowl, which at this point is basically a done deal. Networks tend to favor the two teams playing in the game.
  5. Why would he need to put in more years of elite production than Herbert currently has in order to be in his tier? EDIT: Full disclosure - I've never ever seen Tua play, and as a Hurts fan, I totally understand wanting to resist the urge to celebrate a guy before it's time - but it seems like with both guys, people are moving the goalposts every week. Why can't it just be "they've had an amazing season so far, let's see if they can keep it up and earn that next contract"? Still, don't tell me Hurts vs Tua wouldn't give the networks the two weeks of storylines they need.
  6. I wouldn't say it looks not terrible, but it doesn't not look not terrible. It only looks off because it's a one-off, but in itself is alright. If the team were to adopt that as their look, it'd be fine (until they inevitably decide to go full banana from the waist down.)
  7. This was a strong week, but also had a lot of "if onlys". For example, "if only" the Jaguars had worn teal pants. Or "if only" the Panthers didn't wear black pants. "If only" Tampa wore pewter pants. "If only the Broncos wore white pants." "If only" the Rams and Cardinals were contracted and that game never took place. Pittsburgh vs Cleveland in orange pants is an all timer, but there were a lot of other solid matchups this week.
  8. I mean, your statement is still false. Regardless, while I was looking forward to the intersection of Bills Mafia and Eagles fans, it's too likely that the Earth wouldn't have been able to handle all that mayhem and would have imploded. I guess Tua vs Hurts in the Super Bowl pretty much writes its own stories anyway. I'm not disappointed.
  9. What's crazy about Villanova Football is that right after producing HOFer Howie Long, they abruptly shut the whole program down, without hardly anyone in the athletic department being involved in the decision or having any fore warning. The president / priest and the board decided they didn't want to pay for football anymore so they shut it down, and all the players showed up for practice one day and the gym was full of assistant coaches from all other colleges who were basically there to "draft" the remaining players who were any good. I think they were without football from '81 - '84 or '85.
  10. How in the world did they allow for it to get this bad before calling for the tarp? At some point isn't there liability issues?
  11. At halftime: Eagles 6 sacks, Wentz 3 completions. Wentz isn't literally the worst QB in the league, but he really looks like it today. Holding it too long, fumbling it, throwing long/short/high/low/wide/etc. The 32s seem to have a decent defense, and if Wentz was even average today, it'd be a much tighter game since other than a few fantastic drives, the Eagles are scoring more by default since their offense is always on the field. EDIT:
  12. Seeing the Commanders white jerseys for the first time. At first I felt like they weren't as bad as I had originally had thought, but now I'm convinced that they're awful. From any distance, the gradient makes it look like there's a solid white stripe bisecting the numbers, which is dumb. The inclusion of black and elimination of butter really makes the jersey look out of place with the helmet (or vice versa.)
  13. Eagles have more than twice the number of sacks on Carson Wentz as he has completions. 5-2 sack to completion ratio so far.
  14. Are they doing WAH? I was wondering what pants the Eagles would be in, but if the 32s are going WAH then it's moot.
  15. Yeah, it is crazy. Wonder when the last time he peed into a cup was.
  16. A historic moment that dozens of viewers watched live… on Apple TV.
  17. The local FM radio station syncs itself to Xfinity, so if you're hardwired and not streaming, it's usually close-to-perfect by the first commercial break. For FOX games, I generally don't have to do anything. CBS and NBC tend to monkey with their broadcast a little bit so even if its synced, it tends to not stay synced. I bought a little device off eBay called "Sports Sync" radio, which is just an analog radio with resistors that let you dial in up to a 5 second delay, which is usually good enough to sync any non-streaming broadcast. Things go out the window once the variables associated with streaming come into play. This is the exact one I have, and while it's super sensitive (even a dog wagging its tail can impact reception) it works really well.
  18. I don't know much about when Minshew was in Jacksonville, but the Watson stuff still makes it impossible for me to root for the Browns, even though I love their uniforms* (especially with the orange pants), love the elf at midfield, and just generally want their fans to experience the fun of good football for once. But then they had to ruin it all by bringing in Watson, and while I understand that it's not easy for a fan to simply abandon their team (though I witnessed a lot of that first hand), I can't get on board with any situation that results in 60k people cheering a guy like him. *brown facemask still sucks.
  19. Who talks about backup QBs at all until they have to play (and at that point, are they still backups)? Nick Foles was the talk of the sports world a few years ago, but nobody's going to be posting daily Gardner Minshew updates.
  20. i absolutely hate it. I haven’t had any issues with the quality, but if I want to flip to the baseball game then flip back, it’s a click to bring up the app menu, a click to choose Prime, a wait for it to load, a click to choose the game, another click to “play live” vs “resume”, then another wait for the game to load. I said F it and am just watching baseball. Streaming isn’t sophisticated enough to support live sports viewing yet. Until I can have the stream on standby while I click through other things, I want no part of it. And I assume syncing to radio is nearly impossible, but fortunately local games will (I think) be simulcast on real tv.
  21. If you can't tell, even after replay, if a ball hit a batter, then it didn't hit him. FFS.
