  1. Most (if not all) of the "cookie cutter" stadiums either didn't have any designs, or has just basic white designs while the baseball season was still going on, and then would add some color and logos come October. In the late days of the Vet, the Eagles just had EAGLES written in a plain white generic serif font and either a white outline of the logo or none at all at midfield (can't recall) and then full color and real wordmaks later on in the season.
  2. Josh Hamilton was a relatively insignificant player in the grand scheme of things. Not a superstar. Had 4 or 5 good years and will not be remembered in a few years. I'll give you Pudge, unfortunately being a catcher makes it harder to be a real star. I certainly appreciated his talent though, so OK. LOL. Outside of Texas, nobody noticed or cared about Michael Young. Granted I'm only a casual fan, but until he signed with the Phillies a few years ago, I had no idea he was considered so special to the Rangers. If you're truly a star, then even casual fans can recognize and appreciate your greatness. Alright, I'll give you Juan Gonzalez too. I guess due to the relative obscurity of the Rangers franchise, he just kind of got lost in my memory, but yeah - he was a monster in his day.
  3. Is Texas any star players right uniform? Lots of guys have passed through, or finished up there, but nobody seems like a Ranger. Even Nolan Ryan only finished up there, and had pretty much all of his great accomplishments elsewhere.
  4. So the lewd ads on the bottom are just getting worse. Not that I should anyway, but I can no longer view at work other than from in phone. Not sure how the BotW thread can be pulled only to flood the site with ads like that. For the record, I couldn't care less about the BotW thread, just don't want those types of ads on my screen.
  5. Not sure about the eyes, but for what it is supposed to be, it's really well done. Didn't realize those lines were baseball stitches until now.
  6. What was the point of exposing the white plastic in the "waffle board" back then? Seems to have fallen by the wayside long ago in favor of using that area for design space.
  7. Here's Iguodala in the wrong uniform and wrong number (he gave #4 to Chris Webber when Webber decided to come here and steal an absurd amount of money.) Iguodala played 8 years in Philadelphia, vs 4 total between Denver and GSW, but I don't think anyone would consider a Sixers uniform to be his "right" one.
  8. It's not quite the same thing, but it could at least be argued that Roy Halladay's right uniform is a Phillies one, despite having a decade-long terriffic career in Toronto. He only played two meaningful seasons in Philadelphia, but that's where he had his perfect game and playoff no-hitter, a cy-young, increased national (US at least) exposure in general, and definitely more exposure in the playoffs. In fact if you google him, the images that show up are Phillies rather than Blue Jays. I'm just saying that I feel that way, just pointing out that there are circumstances where 12 years with a team doesn't make it a slam dunk that that's their "right" uniform.
  9. I don't think it's much of a loss to pro sports for the Hurricanes to move, and if the only alternative is expansion then I'm all for it, but I'd rather them move for the benefit of a more stable / desirable hockey market than for fugging Las Vegas. The NFL could maybe work in Las Vegas just based on visiting fan road trips and stadium-based revenue (can't imagine TV deals being impacted positively by a team there) but the NHL has no shot.
  10. Curious why no Reading Phillies? I guess Wilmington is closer, but despite being it's own separate city, I think sports fans there just hop on I-95 and go to Phillies games. It's a bit more of a challenge for people in the Reading area. It's a good minor-league affiliate because it's just far enough outside of the major league zone to have it's own strong-loyal fanbase, but close enough to where the people are fans of the ML team and have a vested interest in the players they get to see locally (as opposed to being a Phillies fan but rooting for Rockies prospects playing in your town.)
  11. Keith Byars wearing #42. Had no idea this happened (also had no idea he was on the Patriots '96 Super Bowl team):
  12. Warren Moon was a Chief? Yeah that's a weird one. The Vikings had several straight seasons where they had success with QBs better known for being on other teams (Moon, Cunningham, Jeff George) but in none of those cases would I consider their VIkings jersey to be "wrong" - just not their "right" jersey. Moon in KC? Wrong. Cunningham in DAL or BAL? Wrong. George in WAS (even though he was only in MIN for a season)? Wrong.
  13. the forced log-out thing is happening more and more to me. It makes me sign in again every time I log on, and that signs me out everywhere else I've been, so basically I have to enter my username and password everytime I go to the site (unless it's from the same device as the previous time.)
  14. For those of us who witnessed most of Ricky's career, his brief stint in Toronto is far from obscure. Especially to a Phillies fan. What is obscure is catching him in #14. As a young uni-number geek, it was quite a shocking sight to see him in anything other than 24 (I missed his pre-Yankees days.) I was actually disappointed when he acquired (purchased) #24 with the Jays. IMO, anything post '95 is a "wrong uniform" for him. Hell - I barely even remember him on most of those teams, with the exception of the Mets. Four separate stints in Oakland? How does that even happen? He was 34 before he became a vagabond. 34! Then played 10 more seasons!
  15. That jersey has a drop shadow rather than up shadow.
  16. For some reason these just started appearing to me today. Got a a nice surprise at work when scantily clad mail-order Russian women appeared on my screen with messages explaining why Slavic girls make the best lovers or something like that. Granted, they were attractive, but I'll be restricting my daytime use to mobile only (which means when I'm pooping) until this is resolved - which is probably a good thing, because even without the ads I probably shouldn't be on the site at work anyway!
  17. Sweet Bubs avatar. Surprised I never noticed that before.
  18. Those uniforms would be a lot better without the gray. Pink, black, and white is all they need.
  19. "NBA merchandizing types are constantly telling us it's the best in the league." LOL Wut?
