  1. I think he may have played a preseason game with the eagles before going to jax. No pics tho.
  2. I've always wanted to know...do you really mean this? Do you prefer the Vet (I was never there) to CBP (Been there; it's pretty nice) and the Linc (Never been inside)? I made the user name in 2004, I think before CBP was even open. Of course the new facilities are a million times nicer an better places to watch a a game, but I went to dozens if not hundreds of games at the Vet an it certainly had a "personality" that can never be duplicated. The new places are relatively sterile in comparision (though CBP was absolutely an amazing place to be during that sell-out streak when every single game was like an NFL-style event.) I'm glad things are the way they are now (even if I'm not thrilled about how they got that way), but I always get that nostalgic feeling when thinking about peeing in giant beer cups and placing them on the ground because the pipes froze and the mens rooms were unusable (except for the sinks of course... which of course had lines just like urinals did.
  3. Sweet Georgia Brown, that font is awful. Steve Carlton never wore a "32" that looked like that.Yeah I have no idea what they were going for there. At the Vet they used something similar to the 80s font (they also had a couple old-timey "P"s retired for players who played before numbers. They have policy of retiring numbers for HOFers (only exception was Ashburn but he eventually got in to HOF). I really wonder if they'll do anything for Rollins since he was here so long and set the team hit record. I hope they don't, but something tells me that they will.
  4. Eagles added their numbers and some championships last season before the big renovation: Not sure if this counts since it's not a team-sanctioned banner, but thought I'd post it anyway. Fortunately that fat turd is long gone.
  5. The Phillies numbers at Cbp look crummy, as they're just painted on to the brick. The old pinstripe-circles from the Vet (they should really bring that back) were much better.
  6. Huge mistake if they do. All of their success at the FCS level has to do with their ability to recruit guys who'd rather start for YSU than sit on the bench for a Akron or Kent State. That's gone if they become just another Ohio MAC program. Always found it odd how many Ohio schools have football programs. I know it was once a recruiting hotbed and perhaps closer to the geographic center of the game, but it's still odd to me. You don't see nearly the same density in Illinois or Indiana, for example, despite them having pretty much the same attributes as Ohio does (region, population, big cities/small cities, etc) Just looked up FBS, FCS, and D2 teams by state. I was expecting Ohio to have a ton, but was surprised to see that PA has a bunch more: Ohio: 22 (8, 2, 12) PA: 34 (3, 8, 23)
  7. I kinda dig those, but I love pinstripes. Would that jersey look better with matching pants or grey pants? I think I would change the logo and numbers to grey and match it with grey pants.Gray pants would be terrible. You never see pinstripes on top and solid on bottom worn by anyone who knows how to dress. It'd be like wearing a pinstriped suit jacket with khakis. The more I think about this, I'm intrigued to see what it would look like on field, or at least on a model. I don't think we've ever seen the pants, nor do I think anyone's done a photoshop of the whole outfit.
  8. I don't think it's a horrible idea at all. Navy pinstriped suits are always in style, and give them kind of a mob element that's kidna cool. What I don't like is the NY on it. Just the New York wordmark would work better, or a Yankees wordmark (either block, or the script.)
  9. reading this thread just shows how stupid college football is. A "waiver" to host a championship game? The NCAA is ridiculous with its seemingly arbitrary rules, and this absurd playoff which is just as silly as the non-playoff. I get if there's a cap on the number of games you can schedule - that makes sense - but what's the rationale of saying yo need 12 teams to have a championship game? Why do they care?
  10. There was an article today about how the flyers are too good to be the worst, so Hextall should trade anyone decent for prospects and essentially tank like their tenants the Sixers are doing.
  11. YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!!!! (Ahem... I think kelly green is the most underrated color in sports and isn't used nearly enough.) I like kelly green and I don't think it's a bad color. I agree that it isn't used enough in sports (green in general isn't really used enough). However, it depends what other colors it goes with because there are some colors kelly green does not look good with. Black is one of those colors, IMO, which is why I hate most of the Eagles "concepts" on here that are simply fill-tool replacements of midnight green with kelly. Silver? Cool. Gold? Cool. Yellow? Cool. White? Cool. Blue? Eh... cool I guess. Black? Makes it look dreary, which is fine if that's the look you're going for, but that's generally not what you want with Kelly. I think the mid-late 80s Eagles actually did want to make their look darker or "less bright", so their use of black worked for what I think they wanted to accomplish (Buddy Ryan was one of the first to wear black eagles caps and other merch, they wore black shoes, and I think they genearally wanted a more modern / intimidating look but were still bound by the conventions of NFL uniforms at the time. I think they could do much better with the color if they ever went back to it, which they have no plans to now or in the future.
  12. That is weird...I'd think it would be "all or none". For me, I am getting used to it but I still prefer WR in the 80s.I also don't like receivers in 12,14,16. I guess pretty much all the even numbers except 18, because that's a relatively obscure number for a QB (manning aside). Those other numbers are just QB numbers to me. I'd also like to see receivers with single digits rather than 10s. Actually I'd rather keep them in the 80s, but if that's not possible then single digits works.
  13. I saw this bus in Riga and joked to my friend that maybe Irbe was driving it.
  14. If they aren't National Champions, can't they say "regional champion" with the Final Four logo? I agree that "runner up" is pretty dumb - is there another word for it similar to regional champion? Like "left side of braket Champion"?
  15. Now that's a new one. Flying Elvis is a way better helmet logo than melting bullseye.
  16. What's with that belt? Looks like the buckle is bigger than normal.
  17. Wow. 14 more years? How godsdamned long was the lease at inception? Why on earth would you commit to that if you're the Panthers - was there really a risk taht they'd be denied tenancy?
  18. Is anyone else constantly being taken to the app store when viewing on iPad? I assume it's part of the advertising deal, but it's happening more frequently and making it difficult to use the site on the tablet. Unless it's just something wrong with my device.
  19. Counterfeit ring busted. Article details how they communicated with makers in china and got jet he fakes to market fast. Also dealings with eBay. Really shows how disgusting this "profession" is. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/Feds_Father_son_ran_counterfeit_sports_jersey_ring.html
  20. I'm pretty sure they did that. I think it may have been only for the 2000 season but I'm not sure.It was weird. The on field jerseys had a block font (kind of a cross between std block and champion - similar to new Stl Blues font) but the replicas had the custom numerals that wouldn't appear on field for another season.
  21. it should be up for renovation or just turn it into a parking lot. Regardless of the name, it'll always be known as the place where the Coyotes skate on the frozen blood of the non believers.
