  1. You seem to want really hard to prove that you are indeed somehow inferior, so I'll concede the point and recognize your complete inferiority. Mentally, socially, financially and (granted I've never seen you, but I'll assume that you're really out of shape and ugly, so) physically. Back on topic (sort of...) By the time all is said and done, CC will look odd in both Brewers and Indians uniforms. CC on the Brewers is like Randy Johnson on the Astros and Wayne Gretzky on the Blues.
  2. Nobody is ripping on the small market team that got "screwed over", they're simply saying that CC Sabathia was in the "wrong" uniform in those pictures when he played for the Brewers. It's funny how you cry wolf and think the team you like got screwed over when the team that the Brewers got Sabathia from had to trade him to the Brewers because they couldn't afford him themselves. Oh yeah, and that same team had to trade Victor Martinez last year. And it happens with other smaller market teams, so shut the up and get over it; the Brewers aren't the only team that can't afford big name free agents. I was making a generalized statement towards small market teams that always get jobbed in baseball's free agency, not just the Brewers. Relax. Calling me inferior like that makes you much more inferior than I am. I didn't call you inferior, although apparently your reading skills are.
  3. I'm not ripping on a small market team, but I'll rip on the inferiority complex that causes people like you to type posts like that.
  4. Do you really need a ring when you get a gold medal?
  5. At this point, the numbers are just words (even when represented numerically) not literal numbers. They have a brand (at least the Big Ten), and should probably just keep it.
  6. Why does this matter to a conference anymore? It's out in the open now that it's all about money and competitiveness. That's not a bad thing. In fact it's good that they're no longer living a lie. Also, back to my earlier question - what happens to Villanova, Georgetown, ODU, et al who are essentially basketball only schools if these super conferences just go ahead and form their own playoff system? Certainly they wouldn't let the A-10 or Little East join in... right?
  7. Yeah, but that was a one-off, and the Eagles at least had colored sleeves. Oh I don't think it'd be a big deal for the Steelers to have yellow alts - jsut saying that the league vetod it.
  8. I doubt the NFL would ever allow a white on gold game anyway. They wouldn't, which is (I think) why they couldn't go with it. They did say that they wanted to though, but I'm not sure if it made it far enough for prototypes to be made. The sleeve striping would have been... interesting.
  9. Question here from someone who knows very little about college sports and all of this conference nonsense. As a Villanova allum, I (sorta) follow their basketball team and make a few road trips with them every year (mostly to check out other cities rather than watch the games, but it's become something fun I do with other allums.) Anyway, if all of these "super conferences" form their own tournaments and just F the NCAA, what happens to schools like 'Nova who don't field DI-A football teams (and therefore aren't attractive to a Super Conference) but have competitive basketball programs? Will they have a league to be in anymore? Would said league (if it exists) have access to compete for championships in a "Super Conference Tournament"? Or would it have to compete in what remains of the NCAA Tournament, which would essentially have the same status that the NIT has now?
  10. D'oh. I thought I recognized the user name as an actual member. Obviously, I didn't click on the links to see where they went.
  11. I don't disagree with this. Either expand or eliminate interleague play. Preferably, eliminate it, because it would suck to have a team in a tight race finish out the season in an interleague series as opposed to playing one of their rivals with whom they're fighting for a playoff spot. EDIT: wait - your FB and Twitter links aren't part of your sig? You actually pasted them in your post?
  12. Wow... we're retiring numbers for making the playoffs and two all-star teams?
  13. With the exception of the California rivalries (or at least the LA SF rivalry), most intra-state rivalries are one sided - the rivalry tends to exist in the smaller or less "celebrated" of the two cities. I assume that very few people in NYC would get up any more for a game against Buffalo than they would for a game against the Thrashers. However, I'd wager that in Buffalo, people are foaming at the mouth to take down the big, bad, arrogant a-holes from NYC (I don't actually think that about people from NYC, but that's' what Buffalonians might think, just like in Pittsburgh, they HATE anything Philly, especially sports, while in Philly, very few have feelings one way or the other about Pittsburgh, because our rivals in sports and socioeconomically (is that a word?) are more NY, NJ, and DC.
  14. What's the point of this "idea"? Just because two teams are located in the same political subdivision of the country doesn't mean that they're rivals. In most (not all though) cases, they are parts of two completely separate metropolitan areas, and the fact that they just happen to be in the same state is irrelevant.
  15. Serious question (not being a smart ass) - do the Clippers have a any banners for any type of championship or retired number?
  16. No band that I like or would ever go to see would ever have a banner hanging in an arena like that, because the music that I like and bands that I live (I go to a lot of live shows) aren't going to draw 20,000 + crowds. Even if they did play in those venues, that would still not preclude me from going. But if they didn't think that it was a little pretentious to have a banner celebrating their popularity, then the chances are that their attitudes would have changed, and they would no longer be making the type of music that I enjoy. So therefore, I won't be seeing bands that have banners hanging in arenas.
  17. BBTV would never attend a Billy Joel or Bruce Springsteen show anyway (though he worked security for three Springsteen shows, and he actually is a good performer even if I can't stand his music or fans) but he's adding to the list of acts he'll never see any act who has a banner in an arena that celebrates how many people in that area see said act. Actually, I can't see myself going to a show in that big of a venue anyway, but the point still stands.
  18. There's also one at the Wachovia Center. Bruce Springsteen also has one, and I think Bon Jovi may have one as well. It's one of the dumbest things I can think of... right up there with a banner for "attendance champions" or "regular season champions".
  19. Funny... that's pretty much what I mentioned in the "how long will current stadiums be around for " thread. I remember telling people my idea of a transparent roof over the ice where people could look down on the action about a year ago. Didn't think of the "bridge" though.
  20. Compared to which other boards? Since you did not leave it to sport, what others do you find elitist? TWOP, skyscrapers, net? Which ones? Never been on skyscrapers.net, but skyscraperpage.com is a pretty informative and civil forum.
  21. I still think that the defending champions in baseball and football should just have oversized belt buckles that have the championship ring design. Kind of like these:
  22. That bottom one with the big Cup is awesome. The Cup looks great with the diamonds in it.
  23. Now that NFL has standardized the Super Bowl logo, it wouldn't shock me if they wanted to take over the ring production from the teams and start issuing standardized rings, so from now on, every champion will receive the same one. It's not likely, but again, it wouldn't shock me.
