I missed this fun part of that article. They'll all be live streamed!

http://nfl.com/publichearings

For better or worse (and it could go either way), there's going to be a Blues game going on literally next door (the buildings are adjoined) at the exact same time. But that's happened with other shows at the venue, so that's not a good excuse anyways.

I suspect the venue will be full. If you're expecting on fans dressed as crazy fans and rallies outside the stadium — then I'm afraid (but not certain) that you may be disappointed. Could see that going either way, though.

Ooh, am I going to get a chance to death-threaten The Giant Pacific Octopus again?

Dressed as crazy fans? No.

More people than the room can hold? Fans lined up outside? Yes. Absolutely.

They won't have the "we refuse to give our bad owner any money" excuse that gets trotted out to justify the wide swaths of empty seats. Time to put up or shut up.

If fanbases can't come out in significant numbers for town meetings designed specifically to determine if they should keep their team, then they deserve to lose it. That goes for any of the three cities.

I could be wrong, but based on my reading of that article, it sounds like everyone who has a seat will know in advance. Most will be reserved for an unspecified number of season ticket holders, and the rest will be for people who have pre-registered online.

So don't expect to see a line out the door unless they announce that there will be some level of at the door admission. Wouldn't hurt to see some people hanging out outside the venue, though, I'm just not sure I expect it.

I do.

Come on, guys. Do you want your team or not? Milwaukee fans would have jumped at the chance to make a public statement in favor of keeping their Braves. As would Brooklynites before their Dodgers were stripped away. I'm pretty sure that Clevelanders would have filled a public square if the NFL had given them a chance to save the Browns.

So yes. I expect fans to congregate outside the venue if they can't get tickets to join in. It's quite literally the least they can do.

We're not using expectation in the same way.

I — in this particular case — don't take exception with your desire to see the fan base rally itself. I think this is a reasonable place for that and one that actually could have some impact. (Whereas I have disagreed with you about fan showings in other situations.)

But I'm talking about whether I consider it likely. And I'm not sure I do. (I'm not sure it won't happen either. It may.)

Gothamite's concern trolling of St. Louis Rams fans has an A+++ rating. Rock-solid investment in that concern trolling.

I can't wait for the Oakland hearing. This will be the closest thing to GWAR testifying before Congress.

That actually sounds sorta fun

I wonder if they're still worth seeing now that Dave Brockie is dead?

Oh, who am I kidding? OF COURSE they are. That's a concert I have GOT to see again because I was absolutely not prepared the first time.

EDIT #1: We really need a football version of this

EDIT#2: I just checked their tour schedule and HOLY :censored:. They're playing in Reno next Monday. The day before the hearings start. Well then... I have my Monday night planned.

Ah, I understand now.

We'll see what Oakland, San Diego and St Louis can bring.

I registered to attend the STL one, but I'm not sure when I'll find out whether I got an admission.

Personally, I think this is a bit sketchy. They claim it is first come first serve, but they're not limiting the registration attempts. They just say if you receive a second email, then that's the one that grants you admission.

I don't particularly trust their screening process here...

Speakers 1 through 100 are all a "Dr. Go T. Hamite" here to talk about what a real shame it is that more people couldn't talk, I guess they just didn't want it bad enough.

Sources: Raiders may Stay in Oakland until 2018

It supports the notion that the Raiders have not satisfied the league's guides for ownership change/relocation.

Where are you getting that? It's not in the article.

That bit was mainly based on a report or 2 saying that if the Raiders want to move to Los Angeles, there would need to be a few changes in the front office (namely, that the Davises give up a portion of their ownership), and if the reports about the 2-year deal at the Coliseum are true, the Raiders may end up staying in Oakland until 2018. That wasn't the best way to say that. :/

I don't have the time to go grab the links. I will later today, though, unless someone else wants to dig them up.

But 2 notable things this week:

1. A St. Louis Alderwoman has filed a bill to restore (with different language) the public's right to vote on this stadium. That would be a win for democracy, but a loss of the stadium as now it is too late to hold a vote.

The pro-stadium side will tell you how this is a kill bill because it's too late. They'll conveniently forget that they could have embraced the public vote months ago and campaigned for the funding instead of suing the city to eliminate the right to vote (which a citizen led initiative had secured a decade ago).

I don't think this bill will pass. And since I'm a lukewarm supporter of the stadium, maybe that's good. But I still support the Alderwoman (she was MY alderwoman until a moved a few blocks over and into another ward) for standing on principle and for spurring the conversation.

2. The St. Louis hearing being held by the NFL has received more than enough registrants and registration is closed. As of yesterday, that was NOT true in San Diego or Oakland.

Also, don't judge St. Louis if the venue isn't full. That is by intent, apparently. The venues in Oakland and San Diego apparently only hold about 1,500, so they're capping St. Louis attendance at a similar number despite the fact that the venue holds around 3,000. Reasonable I suppose, but will hurt the appearance. I doubt that's the motive, but I wouldn't put anything past the NFL.

I don't know why you're suspicious of the NFL - they seem to be more committed to your city than most leagues would be in this situation. They have certainly given St. Louis every possible chance so far to keep the team.

The public vote bill seems interesting. I agree that it would be a good thing from a civics perspective, although it's hard to sort out from a presumed desire to kill the stadium altogether.
