CC97 Posted August 17, 2004 Share Posted August 17, 2004 Ivan Hlinka died in a car accident... former coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as the 1998 Czech Republic Gold Medal Olympic team. Shmee Posted August 17, 2004 Share Posted August 17, 2004 That's terrible news. From what I've heard, Ivan was a quality coach who had strong ethics and motivational skills. Though his time with the Penguins was marred by underachieving teams, he was a valuable member of the organization. Any man whose coaching ability leads him to the NHL as well as an Olympic gold medal should be celebrated for his accomplishments.
