I feel like you need to visit the City's flag to draw some inspiration.

The yellow was fine previously but the black could of been toned down slightly.

Yes that's the one, i realise that that is the Colours of the old Wheels but it just looks to mush like they are playing out of Las Vegas.

Here's a couple directions the Wheels could go next.

 

First is Route 1 with the new Vegas Gold with the Navy and Scarlet from the Detroit city flag. Although there is a chance the London Monarchs will show up years down the line.

 

Or they could take "Route 2" with colors similar to what the Michigan Panthers used in the 80's.

I would go with route 1, just because it is more traditional  and looks better in general.

#2 for me, fits the era and would reduce conflict if the Monarchs do show up.

 

They can even use that grayish beige on the away.
