WideRight
We have a winner as one name rose to a 10-5-3-2 lead of 5 votes. That cuts short the voting with 20 votes in the pot. Congratulations to the Salt Lake Pioneers! The Pioneers will complete the Western Division with 4 clubs in 4 states and will be the only team in the West not to have navy blue as one of their colors. The club will feature a predominantly red uniform with black and "tanned leather" as their secondary colors. A pretty traditional look with two red or white stripes (on pants and sleeves) outlined in black. On the jersey sleeves the secondary logo, featuring an "SL" monogram in an arrowhead will interrupt the striping. The uniform also uses a "twin notch" motif using the tanned leather color. This can be seen on the pant stripes but also in the numbers, appearing on the upper right vertical of each number. This vote also means that seven of eight teams have been selected for Season 1 (Let’s say 2028). Who will emerge from the East as the 8th and final franchise? We are in a true Wild Card position here, so once again both eligible NFL cities and non-NFL markets will be included in the poll. Here are your options, again with Market Size listed as well. NFL MARKETS NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY (1) – A tough media market to crack, but 19 million potential fans. CHICAGO (3) – Weather is a factor, as is poor past performance in non-NFL leagues ATLANTA (8) – Humidity is a factor, but a large market option in the South. MIAMI (9) – Not as humid as Atlanta, but hot, oh so hot. BOSTON (11) – Could Boston add a 2nd Northeastern team without NY being in the league? DETROIT (14) – Well, Ypsalanti really. That seems a bit of an issue. NON NFL MARKETS ORLANDO (22)— Perhaps a better Florida option than sports-packed Miami. COLUMBUS (32)— A huge football hotbed and a possible regional draw. NASHVILLE (35)— A southern city but not as hot/humid as Atlanta or Miami. TIDEWATER (37)— A new market with no track record outside of 1 season of UFL. PROVIDENCE (39)— Would people really pick Providence over Boston? CAROLINA TRIANGLE (41)— Good finances, good stadium options, but not a huge market. RICHMOND (45)— Unlikely to overtake Tidewater and very close to DC BIRMINGHAM (47)— Is it really a spring football league if you don’t include B’Ham? HARTFORD (50)—A third New England option, but the best stadium of all 3 cities. Same rules as before. We will keep the voting open for 2 days or until one team gets a 4-vote lead with at least 15 total votes cast in the balloting. This one is intriguing to me because we already have 3 decent sized Eastern markets in DC, St. Louis and New Orleans. Will folks vote to add a mega-city like NY or Chicago, go for a spring league stalwart like Birmingham or Atlanta, or maybe throw a curveball with a Tidewater, Triangle, or Hartford vote. It really is hard to predict. Let’s see what the sports logo & uniform community thinks? Voting is open, and feel free to give your rationale as well. WideRight
And, since it has been a minute, here is the current 2028, Inaugural Season roster of clubs, 7 of 8 represented. So far no purple in the league, and no helmets which are black, white, yellow, gold, purple, or green. Will that change with team #8? I’ll be honest, not a very stellar range of helmet colors.

NativeSonX
Miami (#18 DMA) - The "Capital" of Latin America, home of the U, and would make the TV contract far more attractive than either Orlando or Columbus, as 30th most globally connected city as it touts 1,200 multinational corporations established their headquarters for the Latin American operations across the city and Miami-Dade County. It ranks rather high in both human capital (well-educated workforce = more disposable income) and cultural experience (access to major sporting events, museums, and other expos). With 25,000 all-seater Miami Freedom Park set to open in time for the 2025 MLS season, gives the AAFL Miami a fairly new venue to fill dates not taken by Inter Miami FC or they can travel up to Ft. Lauderdale's DRV PNK stadium that fits a cozy 21,550, which are both larger and newer than FIU Stadium. Hotlanta (#7 DMA) would be second for it's centrality to anchor the Southeast and it's nominal GDP puts as the US's 11th largest economy (for cities) and 22nd overall in the world. The global headquarters of Coca-Cola, AT&T Mobility, Delta Airlines and Home Depot among others gives it some corporate clout the smaller cities cannot offer. Both TV and Film are a bigger part of the ATL economy these days and could be leverage for getting a side deal with TNT or TBS. NY/NJ (#1 DMA)- The biggest market of them all goes down to #3 due to Wolves taking a bite of the Mid-Atlantic, but nonetheless it's America's largest DMA, with the potential to tap into 6.1% of all US TV households is nothing to sneeze at. In comparison the other contenders are #33 ranked Columbus and #32 Hartford with only Orlando breaking in the top 20 (#16). The league is fueled with television revenues, so why not give the networks and advertisers markets that would make this franchise portfolio more attractive, because right now : PDX (#23), STL (#24), SD (#30), SLC (#27), NO (#51) are going to be carried on the backs of HOU (#6), DC (#9) and possibly any of the 3 I mentioned above. Adding C-bus gives a Rust Belt city (as Ohio's largest metro) between St. Louis and DC and Hartford gives representation to the Northeast/New England but maybe a poor substitute for what a franchise in NY/NJ would bring in corporate juice. Hartford is also known as the "Insurance Capital of the World" and "America's filing cabinet", two un-sexy nicknames for sure!

WideRight
OK, here is the early count, with 11 votes in: 3 Orlando, Columbus 1 NY/NJ, Atlanta, Miami, Hartford, Boston It seems clear that the battle between "We need big TV markets" and "We should put teams in cities that don't have NFL football" is in full effect.
