Update number A was pretty easy. Went to the 465 shade of gold. the original shade of gold was the NO Saints shade which I thought would work well enough for Vegas Gold but yes it definitely was showing up more brown than it was gold. I also swapped the elephant out on the sleeve of the gold alternate for the poker chip and went back to just the A's logo. Oddly enough, I didn't change the gold and white arrangement on these green elements. The contrast was stronger here so I didn't feel like it needed altered.

qNeEw7j.png

Update number B was also easy. Flipped the gold and white on the hats and jersey to improve legibility.

I very easily could have left the Dodgers' home/away uniforms alone and been content with it. But my goal with this series is to at least do something to every uniform. Obviously not every uniform absolutely needs a drastic change (see Yankees' pinstripes). But for the Dodgers, the changes do come from history so I felt like it works without sinking the boat.

These 2 Oakland and Las Vegas A's sets are great, although there's also a possibility that Vivek Ranadive is able to secure a winning bid for the Athletics and have them stay in their currently temporary home of Sacramento, California.

Finally felt like I was in the right headspace to create again.

Home - Away: The last time I took aim at the Angels, the first thing I did was get rid of navy. Didn't think it was needed. This time around, I wanted to see if I can make it work for them better, even with the MLB's noted red and blue problem. So what did I do? I got rid of navy again 🤷‍♂️. It happened by accident, which is a routine occurrence for me but it does pay dividends.

  • Headgear - So in getting the logos on the hat, I accidentally clicked on the wrong swatch and changed the navy to the team's dark red and I liked what I saw, so navy was replaced by a darker shade of the dark red. But the hats don't change much more than that from a design standpoint from the team's long time red hats.
  • Jerseys - So an early idea was to use the City Connect as a base for a new direction, but after looking at it for an extended period of time, I realized how little they moved the needle for me. they're not good, but not bad. But I did take the sleeve stripe from it and the new roundel logo as well. Team's long time wordmark and number fonts stick around with gold added as the drop shadow & recolored to fit the new colors which dumps the long time red on red treatment on the red jersey.
  • Pants/Socks - Nothing super wild on the pants. Single red stripe. Socks are solid.

7SaKmCy.png

Alternate - So recall that my previous comments about the Angels CC uniform. Now, I didn't want to go back to a grey uniform for the alternate or at all. So I borrowed the CC uniforms off-white color, adjusted a little for contrast purposes.

  • Headgear - No changes.
  • Jersey - Structurally the uniform doesn't change. Actually, I think it's basically a color flip.
  • Pants/Socks - also no changes.

Halo Heritage - it was @MJD7 who did the PCL Angels + Disney Angels mashup first, and I loved it. Thought it was a great trapse through the Angels history. So inspired by that design, I wanted to make my own take on it.

  • Headgear - Navy/periwinkle with an LA logo lockup inspired by 40s era PCL Angels uniform.
  • Jersey - periwinkle uniform inspired by the 1956 PCL Angels shoulder stripe uniforms. Replacing the northwestern stripe is the team's triple stripe from the late 70s-80s. Smaller neckline stripe as well. Wordmark uses the current font, arced the same as the pullover era wordmark, with a similar dropshadow to the Disney era wordmarks. Boy that was a lot. Number font is similar to the wordmark.
  • Pants/Socks - Pants are basically the pullover era's, now in periwinkle with a faux-elastic waistband and the triple stripe down the side. Socks come in navy, either solid or stirrup.

Hanger Effect: All four uniforms use "Let's Go Halos". The home/away/alternate use the design with the gold gradient in the word Halos. The Halo uniform changes the design up to match the jersey wordmark a little closer.

Batting Practice:

  • Hats - Same design as the regular hats, just with a white front.
  • Tops - an early design idea for the uniforms. Taking the surfboard stripe from the City Connect release and running it asymmetrically from sleeve to chest with the Angels' logo on the left chest. Player number on the other sleeve.

C&C welcome!

I don't know how much truth there is to that. Everything I've seen suggests that the temporary home in Sacramento would be more a test drive for potential MLB expansion to the Sacramento area. I've also seen a couple reports about potential fallout for Fisher if the A's don't end up in Las Vegas but at the end of the day, I just draw concept uniforms.

I remember loving your last Angels concept, and this one may be even better! The Halos are a great candidate to drop navy & go all-in on red & gold, and incorporating the darker red more to balance against those bright colors is a genius way to pull it off. I love your interpretation of the PCL x Disney mashup, as well, I'm honored I could provide the inspiration!

As always, I can't wait to see what you have next in store!

I really like most of what you've done with the Angels. The yellow/gold trim is a great idea and something I wish the Halos would do in real life, and the Halo Heritage set is a real beauty.

But something about the white "A" against the red cap doesn't look right for some reason. I might take the City Connect influence one step further and make the white front paneled BP cap the primary cap (and maybe go with a sand front paneled cap for the alt).

I'm pretty impressed with the Tan angels uniform, you made a concept look decent that I didn't think was going to be that good.

Finally got the 72 Project website in a better spot, still definitely not done. Have a lot of work to there still for my mobile/tablet users, but I broke away from that to get you guys some content here.

0w9QyKd.png

My first swing at the plate for the Reds saw the removal of black, switching to a solid big stripe, which I think worked at the time, but looking back on it, it's ended up looking pretty dated. The new discourse I went off of on here and social media, is in the team's wordmark and fonts. So I started there and worked backwards.

Home - Away:

  • Headgear - biggest change here is that there is none. All-red hat with the team's wishbone C on the front.
  • Jersey - A good amount of change here and it's not from an unlikely source. The team's long time uniforms from the 70's-early 90's provide the lion's share of the inspiration. Large double stripes on the sleeves, double stripe on the neck, simulating a v-neck on a traditional button down. On the home jersey, the Reds logo, with the number opposite. The number font changes to a traditional block, with an added drop shadow. On the road, which remains grey, a Cincinnati wordmark also similar to the uniform of the inspiring era, also with an added drop shadow. Both have Mr. Redlegs on the sleeves.
  • Pants & Socks - In contrast to the uniforms of the era which featured a double stripe elastic waistband, these uniforms take that stripe and run it traditionally down the side. Socks have a striped option and a solid option.

ls9hKfw.png

Probably the most traditional set of alternates we're going to see in this series.

Alternate:

  • Headgear - same as home and away
  • Jersey - Basically took the current red alternate and added the new stripes to it, and did a reverse Red Queen and kept Mr. Redlegs' head on the sleeve.
  • Pants & Socks - Pants design doesn't change. I did add in the option for red pants to create an all red uniform, which I could have sworn was already done in the past by the Reds but I guess I was mistaken on that.

Cincy:

  • Headgear -  a black and red version of the primary cap and helmet.
  • Jersey - Sleeveless uniforms have been a big part of the Reds' uniform history but I wasn't super interested in a fauxback/mixtape/reverse retro here for the Reds. I feel like the 2019 slate of throwbacks really scratched that itch. But I went a little lo-fi on that angle still, moving the double stripes up to the sleeve seams to make a faux sleeveless look. Also went with the home uniform's logo/number treatment.
  • Pants/Socks - same white pants, black belt gets added in. Socks also flip colors.

Hanger Effect - "Juncta Juvant" with Cincinnati flag elements.

Batting Practice:

  • Hat - if you remember back to the 2015 All Star hats, these bear a resemblance to those, which bear a resemblance to Mr. Redlegs' pillbox hat stripes. So it's only right his mugshot is on the front of those.
  • Tops - Mr. Redlegs' also takes up residency on the front of the BP tops, which has the double stripe on the chest and sleeve ends, player number on the sleeve.

C& C welcome!!

  • 2 weeks later...

@MJD7 beat me to getting the Nationals posted 🤬 (just jokes, it's my own fault for constantly dragging my feet on getting it done)

EXBXGqq.png

Home & Away: The Nationals really did have a great set of uniforms up until this past season. The white jersey is still fine, but the grey jersey is just not good. And I think it's time for something different in the District too.

  • Headgear - Red returns to being the primary option. We don't need another navy/red primary hat.
  • Jerseys - I borrowed from a scrapped Capitals idea I had with some minor tweaks. I wanted to get the DC flag involved but not overtly or literally the flag. So the sleeves now have a double stripe design, flanked by smaller stripes top and bottom. 3 stars fill in the space in the stripes, that also feature a subtle marble pattern. The matching scripts are back, as are the bevels on the number fonts! (though this time they're subtle)
  • Pants/Socks - The same stripes from the collar are used down the sides of the pants. Socks are solid red.

J2mPiea.png

Alternate: I was trying to go for something Senators' inspired but none of the outcomes worked for me and they honestly felt too disconnected from the larger uniform picture. So it's a pretty simple color flip. The double stripe becomes a triple stripe. The navy hat and socks would be used here as well as rotated in with the white and red uniforms.

District: I probably couldn't do better if I tried to come up with a City Connect for the Nats, so the current CC uniform sticks around with some minor changes here and there. The cherry blossom tree is taken off the side of the hat and now resides on the right sleeve. A small double stripe is added to both sleeves, with the left sleeves getting three stars to create the DC Flag on the sleeve.

Batting Practice:

  • Hat - With the red hat returning to full time primary status, the white panel is returned to BP status, with the DC interlock logo.
  • Tops - Nothing fancy, the double stripe around the collar and trim of the sleeves and hem line. Nats script with the player number on the chest.

Hanger Effect: DISTRICT OF BASEBALL. more of the DC Flag, this time with smaller double stripes and a gold star among the 3 to represent the team's current single World Series Championship

For whatever reason, the number being low on the player's right feels really off to me.

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

This whole concept looks fantastic! I particularly like the home jersey since I feel that the Nationals script looks so much better in red. Each of the rest of the jerseys look great too, with my only suggestion being about the sleeve striping. I admire how it's unique to the league and an ambitious design, but I'm not totally sold on how it looks. It feels oversized to me, like it's taking up too much space on the sleeves. I wonder if you could translate that pattern into racing stripes, since those tend to be thicker than traditional sleeve stripes, much like your design. That would likely disrupt the star pattern that you had in the middle of the stripes though, so I'm not sure how you'd adjust those. Either way, I still feel like this set takes all the best pieces of their original curly-W set while making improvements to it, making for a cohesive uniform set better than anything they've worn in real life.

If he did go with racing stripes, they could be seen as a nod to the Expos.

What about Nike’s recent history with metallic colors AND shades of green makes you think it would work better on actual fabric? 😉

A valid concern, but if it was up to me, the gold stripes on the Vegas jerseys would be the same style material as the Golden Knights jerseys. Performance material be damned.

Oh my days....this is some genuinely amazing work you've done so far...I'm excited for my local team, the Rangers (though I am aware that is going to come much later on)!

Like I said, not right away, but not as far away as you might have thought.

qbDEtpf.png

I had no issues with the updates the Rangers made in 2020. They might still contribute to the MLB's RWB problem, but I felt that they're at least in the top half the league's uniform rankings. So naturally I changed things.

Home-Away:

  • Headwear - Nothing major happens. The blue/red hat remains the primary. The only real change is the addition of the team's flag logo to the right side of the hat.
  • Jersey - A bit heavy handed but I used an alternate from my previous series as the inspiration for the new home and away. Also the return of a vest/faux vest design that I'm sure will go over so well no one will mention it. The stripes and star approximate the flag of Texas design. I considered a sleeve logo but the design on the sleeves was a little much with an added patch. Rangers returns to the chest of the white jersey for the first time since 2008.  A smaller version of the double stripe can be found around the neckline.
  • Pants/Socks - White pants, double stripe down the sides. Blue socks with the same stripes.

K5ibsdM.png

Alternate - A little more subdued than the preceding uniforms. The original plan was for the red jersey to be a little more throwback inspired and a different idea on the fourth jersey, but that didn't work out how I originally thought.

  • Headwear - flipped the colors around, same general set up as the blue hat.
  • Jersey - Much more traditionally sized stripes on the sleeves. the flag logo comes down the sleeves. Wordmarks go away in favor of the newer TX logo, combined with the player number.
  • Pants - Socks - Same as the home & away, just with a red belt and the socks go red.

Lone Star - I thought about taking it back to a true throwback uniform, but I was too big a fan of the new script so I worked out a "modern throwback".

Batting Practice - I was torn on using the TX logo on both, but I came to a compromise with myself. Tri-color hat with the TX logo, which could theoretically be used in the rotation if the imaginary team decided to do so. Jersey uses the team's old sheriff's badge logo, slightly recolored for use here, with the double stripe on the upper sleeve, player number on the lower right sleeve.

Hanger Effect - "Dream the Big Dream". Former Arlington mayor Tom Vandergriff's words are immortalized on the inner collar in a 70's newspaper style font, honoring the decade in which he brought the team to Texas.

C&C welcome!

That was kind of the point. I wanted them larger than the standard sleeve stripe you see in baseball today. I did consider some Expos influence, but ultimately I went with the DC angle, opting for the team to build off of their own history in the DC area.

I think that was me being overly aggressive in moving the number down. It's definitely not supposed to sit that low.

Well. I guess you were right. I completely forgot Rogers even threw a perfect game... (I'm assuming that's the guy here)

Anyhow, these are some pretty good adjustments for the defending world champs! The Texas flag on the side is giving me ideas for whenever I do my Rangers concept for Into the DFW-Verse....I can only wonder what the numbers would look like with drop shadows though.

What about Nike’s recent history with metallic colors AND shades of green makes you think it would work better on actual fabric? 😉

Well, you got me there.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

I really dig the "Cincy" alternate for the Reds, that's my favorite design of that set by far. The shoulder stripes really make it, I think. All-red would be interesting, too, but I think it could work.

@MJD7 beat me to getting the Nationals posted 🤬 (just jokes, it's my own fault for constantly dragging my feet on getting it done)

It's all good! Your design is much more ambitious with them, anyway. I really dig the marble pattern, I almost think it could be extended to the entire thing, at least for the white jersey. (Also, as an aside, I've gone about recreating the actual pattern on the City Connect jersey as best I could for my own concepts, if you would be interesting in having that).

I really like the Rangers, going all-in on the two-stripe motif and the Texas flag definitely feels like the way to go for them. I really like the tri-color BP cap, and the state logo on the powder blue alternate.

Can't wait for more!

Big fan of just about everything you've done with Texas. Although I don't love vests in MLB as a rule of thumb, the Rangers are one team I might be OK with wearing them as a full-time look. As a departure from their real life uniforms, I'm curious how the Lone Star set would look with a red script instead of white. I also agree with @BlueMoon18 that the numbers should probably have drop shadows to match the script. Alternatively, you could tweak the script to have two outlines instead of a shadow so as to match the numbers.

I meant to leave some feedback on the Reds. I agree with @MJD7 that the Cincy alt is the coolest design in the whole set. However, I'm not big on the black trim/shadows on the other three jerseys, especially the road. I might ditch the trim altogether or replace it on the road with white.

As always, keep up the awesome work!

The last time I worked on the Diamondbacks, I went back and forth on the black/red color scheme or the team's inaugural color scheme. There wasn't much of a debate for me this time. Back to purple and a middle ground shade of teal/turquoise somewhere in between the current bright turquoise and the inaugural teal shade.

Home-Away: Another case of modern throwbacks, this time for the whole set.

  • Headwear - Back to the purple lids, with the team's long time A logo on the front.
  • Jersey - Back to the off-white/cream color for the home jersey, thought I lightened it a touch more from the original value. The diamondback sleeve pattern from the team's first alternates, with some slight tweaks. "A" Logo on the home, Arizona on the purple roads.
  • Pants | Socks - Off-white pants with a combination of a solid purple stripe with the Diamondback stripe up towards the belt loops. Purple solid socks. I considered the diamondback stripe on them, but it felt like too much.

Alternate - I thought I was wrong when I started work on the Diamondbacks that they never even tried a teal on-field jersey before, but as I looked, I was becoming more and more right. So there was no question which direction the first alternate was going.

  • Headgear - I considered a teal/purple look or just adding a purple/teal hat but at the end, the purple/purple sticks around as the option.
  • Jersey - Teal, as advertised. Design doesn't change, same stripes on the sleeves. D-Backs wordmark returns for use here.
  • Pants | Socks - Pants don't change, save for the belt color. Which also applies to the socks here.

Desert Nights - So my wife, who is an Arizona native and lifelong D-Backs fan, suggested a black jersey which works for me honestly and it was my suggestion for a sort of black light jersey because anyone who's lived in the American southwest and specifically the Arizona desert knows to use a black light to look for scorpions because they're bioluminescent. If you haven't caught the disconnect yet, I'll unbury the lead that scorpions =/= diamondback snakes. But I liked the look enough that it stuck, minus any reference to scorpions.

  • Headgear - Back to a black hat, this time and for the first time, with a purple brim. The 07-17 Snake logo returns, in the new old colors, to the front of the hats/helmets.
  • Jersey - Again, the jersey design doesn't change a ton. The off-white/copper is largely minimized in favor of purple and teal. I don't like/love the full spelled out Diamondbacks wordmark the team unveiled in the offseason but I felt like it worked when it was sheared like the team's inaugural wordmarks. So that works as an homage to those early uniforms. The Snake logo takes up space on the sleeve.
  • Pants | Socks - The biggest change here is the addition of black pants, colored the same way as their jersey. I'd imagine these as Friday night game uniforms or something along those lines for the full black look. For other uses, the regular off-white pants would be used.

Batting Practice - 2016 will never be escaped. I personally didn't hate those uniforms but I understand that I don't speak for everyone. The hats are teal/purple, with the diamondback pattern on the front panel and the modern snake head logo. The tops combine the 2016 snake pattern with my Reverse Retro concept for the D-Backs

Hanger Effect - "Desert Baseball" on top of a subtle desert landscape.

C&C welcome!

I went heavy on the drop shadows the last go around for the Rangers and I was curious to see how they'd fare without them this time. Though I might return the drop shadows on the Lone Star uniform to match the scrip.

I hadn't considered the marble pattern all over but I might take a look at how that looks.

If I do anything I'll probably just add the shadow to the Lone Star numbers. I'll take another look at Cincy here shortly, but in terms of consistency I'll see what changing the trim color looks like.
