PackerBadger
Marquette University's Board of Trustees met today to consider the school's nickname. Marquette's president changed the nickname from Warriors, their nickname since 1954, to Golden Eagles in 1994 due to sensitivity issues over Indian nicknames. But at Marquette's May commencement, the board of trustees' vice chairman pledged $1 million, plus $1 million from another unnamed trustee, if Marquette would change its nickname back to Warriors. The school turned down the gift, but it is apparently revisiting the issue.Given that, which of Marquette's four 20th-century nicknames should the university use? Or something different? Avenger
It's not like they have established a century-long tradition with their name. They should just stick to Golden Eagles. Consitency is key.

Stampman
Hilltoppers? what kind of name is that?I've heard it used before--the odd thing is it was by a team in the flatlands of Canada-Saskatchewan...And Golden Avalanche? What were they smoking? No offense to those who chose those names--but we obviously have very different naming philosophies... Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."
