CubsFanBudMan Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Perhaps this is something new... the champs get to wear the logo until someone takes it from them. Hadn't heard about this yet...Here's a pic (sorry, still can't post pics on my work Mac)http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/photo?slug=r42...64&prov=reuters
SmoothieX Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 hi Cubsfan - replied to your thread over on SSUR, read it if you want gooey details, but in general I like the move and hope it lasts all year.
DEAD! Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 That's way it's done in Serie 'A' in Italy. The defending champion wears a special shield in Italy's colours. In this case it's AC Milan that wears it. Nice touch I say. I saw, I came, I left.
Survival79 Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I think it is appropriate for a one game tribute, like the Patriots did earlier this year:
scooter13 Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Didn't the Marlins wear a World Series patch all season? Detroit Dragons - 2010 ULL Gait Cup ChampionsDetroit Cougars - 2010 and 2011 WAFA Wills Cup Champions
mjrbaseball Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 They could do like the 1906 New York Giants did to honor the '05 World Series:
lucky Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I really hope this is a season-long thing, but I'm guessing it was just done to coincide with the banner-raising and ring-handing-outing. If the champs got to wear a patch all year long? Sounds corny, but I think it has all sorts of possibilities. Yeah do that. Do exactly THAT
scooter13 Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I like the idea, too. Heck, lately in hockey and baseball the team hosting the All-Star Game has worn a patch all season long. Why not wear a patch showing a realy accomplishment, like winning the championship.Though I think the '06 Giants went a little too bold.
