Superbowl in the mind of saintsfan

Anyone got any plans for this afternoon? Anyway here are some thoughts related to the Superbowl.

1. Lets just hope Paul McCartney doesn't have a costume malfunction.

2. Just because two of the best teams on the league are playing, doesn't mean it will be a great game.

3. Has a team named after a bird ever won the superbowl? I can't think of one.

4. Are the Pats defense more important to the team than Tom Brady and the on field leadership he gives?

5. How does Belichick rate as a coach, in the history of the NFL? IMO he is one of the best, whatever happens. How bad must the Browns feel about firing him so quickly!

1. Well unlike Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney is a legend who though old still can perform, while Janet never was that good to begin with and was fading and needed something to resurrect her career.

2. Well the scores 55-10, 42-10, 46-10, and 52-17 show that is defentley true.

3. The Falcons, Eagles, Cardinals, and Seahawks are all birds of a feather with out a ring on their wing.

4. Its the defense and the coaching that drives the Pats put Brady on the Arizona Cardinals and they still lose 10 games.

5. Belichick is moving up there into the company of Lombardi, Walsh, Shula, and Parcells.

Well remember this about his firing in Celeveland it happened with the move of the old team to Baltimore. They went into a tailspin after the move was announced while the city and Art Modell and NFL negotaited the settlement taht lket the city keep the name and the teams history to be revived with a 1999 expansion team. The Browns became the Ravens and Modell I guess wanted to staret from scrathc with a new coach which he did although he is no Belichick they did bring home 1 Super Bowl so it didnt work out taht bad for the Ravens.

I guess it was only the city of CLeveland that really got screwed in the deal, and they have been fuming foir 10 years now at the whole Modell move and expansion team situation.

1. Agree with Tank. McCartney is an aweoms performer to begin with

2.I agree. Im really hpoing for a close game, those are always the best tho.

3.The Ravens

4.Thats hard to determine. Brady is an a system that works for him. And he wins. IMO if they dont have him theyre still winning. Theyre not quite as good but theyre winning However Brady doesnt make mistakes, and the D forces mistakes. Its a great combo.

5.I think this guy is an unbelievable coach. Hes got a ways to go to be mentioned with Lombardi, however hes one of the best, and hes still got lots of time to move up to the very top.

3.The Ravens

I knew there must be one!!

I was jesting about McCartney, in my opinion the thought of looking at an ageing 60+ year old without clothes on is much less attractive than getting a quick peak at one of Janet Jackson's breasts but hey! (PersonallyI think the incident was all down to Timberlake, but hey!)

yeah, this game is gonna be awesome, but im more lookming forward to seeing a few bucs in the Pro Bowl next week. Does anyone else look forward to the pro bowl? but naw, this game is going to rock, but ive noticed that the team with a distraction always gets killed. like the barrett robbins situation a few years ago, and i just hope that this T.O thing dosent kill what could be a potentially awesome game.

nah the Pro Bowl is usualy a snorzeville. All the hype leading up to the Super Bowl makes the Pro Bowl pretty pointless.

shoot, i remember last year's pro bowl. AFC was leading big, then the NFC made this huge comeback and won :D

it's the odd bird of all-star games-the other 3 are midseason, always in a different place and the skills challenge, HR Derby or dunk contest are more highly awaited than the game itself. the Pro Bowl's after the season, always in Honolulu and the festivities might as well be held in secret. that said i look forward to it

back to today, i guess i'll have an excuse to sleep during halftime :D

as John Elway can tell you, sometimes one teams' just that much better than the other. And sometimes you get a gem like Pats-Panthers last year.

as said, the bird that says Nevermore

put Gino Torretta behind center and teh Pats will still win 10. put...er, #12 on the Dolphins, he'd be thinking about retiring right about now.

I think Belichick was starting to turn the Browns around, just two things happened that stopped him: first, he released Kosar. second, the infamous midseason announcement of the move. he's recovered, and he's proving to be a great coach. shoot, an okay coach can take superstars and win; a great one can take guys you've never heard of and win titles. Bill Belichick is a great coach, bar none. I question his taste in QBs but heh, he wins. I'll put him in the top 10.

yeah, ive been to the pro bowl and the HR derby/allstar game. and the allstar game and pro bowl are a snooze. its the festivities that rule. the beach game and beach bowling at the HHV, and being able to watch NFL primetime from your hotel balcony, and the fanfest at the pro bowl. and the HR derby and the fanfest at the allstar game that rules.

1. I think you can bet the house that Paul's shirt isn't coming off.

2. Agreed.

4. Defense wins championships. How many Super Bowls did Dan Fouts win?

5. It's hard to say, Parcells never won a Super Bowl without Bellick. But Bellick wasn't this hall of fame coach with the Browns. I think he learned from Parcells how to put a great staff together, which is a key to being a great coach. Bellick is a great coach but it will be interesting next year. Look at Parcells with the boy, he's had trouble and some of that has to do with his staff that he always had was in New England.

Maybe its not just defense but the right kind of QB as well. Montana wasn't as flashy as a lot of QBs in that era, but new how to win games. Sure defense is important though.

The point about Belichick's staff is a good one to. how much of his success is just down to him, and how much to the systems of Weiss and crenell. It will be interesting to see if Belichick promotes from within or looks elsewhere for the replacements.
