Was it really that hard to see a BLACK puck on WHITE ice? Why is it always hockey that is being screwed around with? Let's make the game more of a joke that what it already is down south...this is stupid :cursing:

Hockey started to go bad when it went south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

In 1967?

No, having one or two teams down South is ok but there's no need for as many as there are now.

Actually, in my opinion. Hockey started getting bad in around 2001-2002. When the newest teams were up north.

I think 26 teams is enough. We could've got without the last four expansions. (Nashville, Atlanta, Columbus, Minnesota)

It spreads the talent too thin among so many teams.

It's good the ice was tinted blue, because blue and orange go so well with black, red and silver.

Yuck.

My thoughts exactly.

lemmie guess. the Sabres new logo and unis will include Blue and, oh i dunno, orange ^_^

Explain to me how having a team in Minnesota is a bad thing. After you're done with that, explain to me how having a team in Minnesota that sells out every home game is a bad thing.

I'm not gonna jump on the South-bashing bandwagon, because there are some highly successful franchises in the South (ironically, Dallas would be at the head of that class). But you can't actually believe that Minnesota is a bad place for a hockey franchise.

I say eliminate: Colombus, Atlanta, Nashville, Panthers, Lightning, Devils.

Possibly: Capitols

Move: Penguins>Quebec, Coyotes>Winnipeg, Hurricanes>Hartford, Sharks>Halifax (Fans from PEI could go to games, thus the attendance could be steady).

We're hashed this out before. There's no reason at all to eliminate Dallas, Los Angeles, San Jose, or Tampa Bay. Los Angeles has been around since 1967. Dallas and San Jose are wildly successful franchises. Tampa Bay, while having had early ownership problems, now seems to have stability, and is also the current Cup-holding franchise.

And those little pipe dreams about Hartford, Winnipeg, and Quebec coming back? Continue to dream, maybe some day the pigs will actualy fly. (Never mind the idea of renaming the Minnesota team. That's just dumb.)

Carolina isn't going anywhere. The owner is committed to keeping the team down there.

San Jose is a huge hockey market. So are Denver and Dallas. They're not going anywhere either.

This isn't the Canada & Northeast US hockey league. All these people with this pipe dream of contracting the league back to specific geographic areas are stuck in this 1960s mentality. At one time, there was no baseball west of the Mississippi or south of the Mason-Dixon line either. Should we contract the Braves, Astros and Dodgers, or move some of them back to the Northeast?

Hartford is a minor league city. Keep AHL hockey there. The Wolf-Pack have a supportive fan base, and have built up nice geographical rivalries with other New England AHL cities. The only reason Hartford even had a WHA team was to break into the largest New England market that didn't have an NHL team. If you erase the Whalers history, Hartford would never be considered as a viable option for an expansion franchise for the top 4 Major Pro sports leagues. It's too small, and too close to New York and Boston.
