I like the blue and silver.

Isn't Pedro president there?

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers wore a pink and black variety of the UltraStripe pattern yesterday. Here's a photo section from the local paper:

Note that the striping is different from the usual pattern -- instead, they are four colors that repeat over and over rather than having the single middle-stripe that is different from all the rest.

As an Astros fan who loves the rainbow gut (though it ranks behind the shooting star top, IMO) and appreciates all of the subsequent homages paid to it (even the ones the male Saints cheerleaders wore in the late 1970s), the pink and black is horrific.

I agree... I'm guessing this was some kind of mothers day or breast cancer promotion, but those are terrible! I'd have been embarrassed to walk out of the dugout with those.

The Corpus Cristi Hooks have been giving away two different kinds of Astros replicas -- one Rainbow Guts and one Rainbow Sleeves.

Here's an image of what the Rainbow Sleeves looks like.

They haven't worn these on the field; the giveaways run a bit small.

Also, the West Michigan Whitecaps last Thursday were playing a 70s night game. Look at what they wore in this video clip (no local newspaper, to their great credit, printed a photo of these monstrosities):

These were about as loud as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans' jerseys of a few years ago.

I like the Hooks' rainbow sleeves. Nice touch, especially since they're the Astros' Double-A affiliate.

As for the Whitecaps, those are, um, interesting.

I've seen some of the other photos, and I wish the uniform manufacturers of the rainbow gut knockoffs would make the jersey cut properly. Inevitably, the number on the back is always mostly in white but drops into the stripes, which is incorrect. The Astros had the circle with the number inside in 1975. In all subsequent years, the number was ENTIRELY in the stripes, with the name in the white space.

These knockoffs always are done wrong because there's too much white space at the top or the number is too big, which leads to the number then having to start in the white space.

That's 'cause the original Ultrastripe design is trademarked, so any team that wants to wear the design either has to pay for the pattern or modify it slightly.

I like the blue and silver.

From one who lives in the same valley (but not the same state), I have to say that I, too, like them. It seems to work better with a blue/silver/white/black or navy/light blue/silver/white scheme.
