Is it me, or is the crowd really quiet this year for the derby? Or are they just in awe?

I know Ichiro didn't want to participate

With 43 homeruns in 5 seasons, I don't blame him.

Apparently he can sock some long dingers in BP, though, and was asked but declined. :therock:

Yeah, but that's crap. They say he could be a homerun hitter if he wanted to be, it's just not what the Mariners need, but that's crap. If you can hit a homerun you do it...there's no better thing you can do to help your team than give them a guranteed run.

I work at Safeco Field and I watch Ichiro take batting practice everyday and I can tell you that he jacks them out on after another. Its insane because their not short ones but ones that are crushed and go 400 feet and off the upper deck. I have 2 off his HR Balls sitting around my room just from last year. Any other year except for this one and he would have won.

Well the North American contigent of Bay and Teixiera did a good job atleast.

They were BRILLIANT. Its Jason Bay, and he was in his first HRD ever and had to follow a 24. I didnt expect much more than what he got.

i was sorta surprised about Teixeira, though, he is a good home run hitter.
