This just in...Georgia Tech is changing their name to the "Gold Jackets."

Right on the nose!

I remember when Minnesota, of "maroon and gold" claims, actually used "gold" in their football uniforms for a while in the 90s. It was smart and accurate, but it didn't last. They went back to yellow after 4 years or so.

I did a quick query of my database and found 501 instances where a team uses "Yellow" as their color description. I won't post them all, but here are a few of the more prominent ones:

  • Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (1993-1994 - present)
  • Arizona Cardinals (1994 - 2004)
  • Arizona Wranglers (1983 - 1984)
  • Atlanta Hawks (1995-1996 - present)
  • Barcelona Dragons (1998 - 2003)
  • Chicago Blackhawks (1938 - present)
  • Connecticut Sun (2003 - present)
  • Denver Nuggets (2003-2004 - present)
  • Detroit Pistons (1996-1997 - 2000-2001)
  • Florida Panthers (1993-1994 - present)
  • Houston Astros (1975 - 1993)
  • Indiana Fever (2000 - present)
  • Indiana Pacers (1976-1977 - present)
  • Miami Heat (1988-1989 - present)
  • New Orleans Hornets (2002-2003 - present)
  • St. Louis Cardinals (1922 - present)
  • Toronto Blue Jays (1997 - 2003)

Like I said, there a a TON more, but this are a few examples.
