CBA ? Sun Kings unveil new logo

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

The Sun Kings new logo.

Moving to link themselves more closely to their new ownership, the Yakama Sun Kings unveiled a new logo Thursday.

The new design features a basketball with an indian headband with two feathers, acknowledging the team's purchase by the Yakama Nation last month.

"We wanted the new logo to reflect the heritage of our ownership group," Sun Kings general manager Rich Austin said in a release from the team.

The new logo was designed by Andrea Martinez from Yakama Nation Legends Casino.

Previously, the only link to the tribe's ownership was changing the "I" in Yakima to an "A," reflecting the nation's spelling.

The team also changed its team colors for the upcoming season, to gold, blue and white.

This is the third logo change for the franchise, Austin said.

Yakama begins its 15th season at home, hosting the Idaho Stampede in the SunDome on Friday, Nov. 18.

The team will conduct a free agent tryout camp Oct. 29-30 at Yakima Valley Community College's Sherar Gym, and it begins training camp on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Not only is it boring, it's not even good. Most of the ABA logos suck, but at least you can tell someone put some creative thought into 'em instead of saying, "Hey lets slap a headband and a couple feathers on a basketball.

The logo has nothing to do with the team name. Don't you people require that or something? :D (referencing the infamous ball-in-glove logo)

yes its boring...but...

they spelled Yakima wrong! Every atlas i have ever seen spells it Yakima, only the indians tribe that lived there i think was spelled Yakama

Did you read the first post, Tom? It says that the tribe owns the team and they changed the spelling to reflect their tribe's ownership.
