ohryan
Speaking of the Iowa/Steelers simularities...does anyone know why and when Iowa did this? I remember as a kid following Ohio State Iowa's uniforms were more like the Green Bay Packers with a green and gold combination...why the deliberate imitation of the steelers? I believe it was Frye's tennure but not sure.Just currious. Fry was a psychology major and often used things like this to gain an advantage. The switch happened back during the days of the Steel Curtain era when the Steelers dominated the NFL. By emulating the look, his intentions were to make the Hawkeyes feel like Steelers and make the opposing teams think they were lining up against a Steeler-like team. He also painted the visiting locker room pink and would sometimes punt on 3rd down - just to throw the opponent off.
matthew516
The story on the Iowa/Steelers link also sheds light on Kansas St./Cowboys. When Snyder came to K-State, he emulated the Jimmy Johnson/Triplets Cowboys in a conscious repetition of Fry.It worked for a while, too. WSU151
i'm surprised no one mentioned west virginia with their bronco like uniforms. Probably because they really don't look a lot like the Broncos. Some of these comparisons in this thread are shady, at best. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half. JH42XCC
Midwood High School is across the street from my high school. I noticed that their football team's uniforms resemble the New England Patriots.
