zoneranger
At work, a friend and I were discussing the Baseball Almost Hall of Fame. Players who were much better than average but still not quite Hall of Fame material. My nominations were:1. Dale Murphy2. Dave Parker3. Dave Winfield4. Al Oliver5. Manny Sanguillen (If it weren't for Johnny Bench-this guy would have been in the All-Star game every year)The floor is now open for nominations............. Kirk Gibson gibson was good, but i'd say...and i'm a completely biased tigers fan...that alan trammell and lou whitaker deserve to be in the hall....a SS/2B combo that played 19 years together...that's pretty damned amazing.both had stats comparable to ryne sandberg's too. winghaz
(Twins)Tony OlivaBert Blyleven Those two don't count. They belong in the Hall.Oliva is one of the most underrated players in baseball history. Just look at his stats on www.baseball-reference.com. A .304 lifetime batting average? An eight-time All-Star? Leading the league in hits five times? These are some numbers that would embarass many a current Hall of Famer.
