Great another sport I like to watch, but cant because I dont get OLN! :cursing:

Sweet. I have OLN!

I must say, with the NHL, AFL, and now NLL, there's some great niche sports OL...er Versus (!!!) is carrying. Now, if they only could spread their viewership, we'd be talking!

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Personally I wish I had OLN. Im surprised that it is continuing to be on the air. According to my local paper more people tuned into ESPNs softball coverage than game one of the Stanley Cup on OLN. OUCH!

Well the Stanley Cup Finals have been the highest rated programs in OLN's history. They aren't great rating but it is better than what they have had and the NHL has legitimized ratings.

OLN/VS might be picking up the MLB thursday night package that includes the division series playoff round. If that happens I would expect VS to be picked up and placed on basic cable on pretty much every cable outlet. Since picking up the NHL OLN has gained more homes. It will gain even more homes when a good number of Adelphia cable switch over to Comcast the parent company of OLN. OLN/VS will be added to basic cable in those areas. Picking up a baseball package that includes playoffs will be the thing that will allow OLN/VS to gain the same availability as ESPN.

If they get MLB as well they will have a pretty solid lineup with the NHL, MLB, AFL, NLL plus events like the Tour de France and America's Cup. I like what Comcast is doing with this network.

I hate lacrosse. If you want to be physical and beat people up, play football. If you want a non-stop game, play hockey. Don't combine the two.

Tell that to the First Nations who did that before us of the Eastern Hemispheric-ilk ever got around to coming on over. <_<

[edit to respond to jkrdevil] I agree with you wholeheartedly. I really like what OLN is doing. I think if ESPN doesn't watch out, in the next 5 years OLN/Vs. will become a credible (not a peer, mind you) alternative to ESPN. I think it's great tbh. FSN is too regionalised to take on ESPN, but OLN is quickly acquiring programming that shows it's for real. Now, to get rid of that Survivor and Wanted: Ted or Alive crap... ^_^

According to Wikipedia, lacrosse has it's roots in the 15th century, while ice hockey is linked to the 15th century, and American football came around in the 19th century.

All in all, calling lacrosse a combo of American football and ice hockey isn't true, lacrosse came first.

Granted, OLN has picked up some good programing. My worry though, is Comcast will in the long run will use OLN/Vs as a pawn as it tries to bully Dish/Directv and current Comcast subscribers.

What I fear:

As OLN/Vs beefs up its line-up, it will demand a higher preium from Dish/Directv (who pride themselves on their price point), who will stick in they more pricey packages as they try to keep their other packages cheap. Comcast in turn, will load local channels with their crappy ads yelling "We've got OLN/Vs!", eventhough it will be on Expanded Basic which costs 50 bucks a month, which will probably be slightlly cheaper than the Dish/Directv packages with OLN/Vs. Then, based off of my run-ins with Comcast, they'll probably put in the higher number channels, which are nearly unwatchable because of the "snow" as a cheap ass attempt to get people to switch to digital cable for even more money.

I once had a car but I crashed it. I once had a guitar but I smashed it. I once, wait where am I going with this?
