Airline Football League

Novel idea, BB. And if the AA concept is a sign of what's to come, I am going to like this a lot.

When this is done, I'll bug you for uniforms for the teams that no longer field teams in your AFL - Pan Am, Midway and the rest.

I actually do have some things lined up for "now defunct" airlines, but I completely forgot about pan Am and Midway. I can add those to my list and see how far I can take this, but Imma have to do some serious research first. But it ain't out the question by no means...

this is cool.

when/if you get time, you should do

delta

us airways

northwest

continental (possibly, might be hard)

airtran

frontier

Each and every one of these is on my list, and all but one are done (I just added Frontier a day ago; still gotta put those ideas together.) Continental gave me some serious issues (tryna figure out what to do about that globe), but the uniforms themselves, once I figured it out, came pretty easily. AirTran wasn't exactly easy, either, and actually might be one of the more "decorated" ideas in this series...but all those will be revealed in time.

In a day or two I'll be putting up part two in this series--United Airlines...

I like the idea, and The first set is nice. The uniform design matches the logos nicely, I can not think of anything you should change on the uniforms.

Did anybody notice that on the NW airlines picture that was posted, the arrow is pointing NorthEast? I think it is just so the arrow points to the front on both sides, but that is weird since the arrow is supposed to represent NorthWest.

VERY GOOD CATCH.

This is one of the reasons I am NOT LIKING Northwest's new little design direction. (Viewed from the other side, the arrow IS pointing northwest.) You actually beat me to the punch about that...I was going to get into a little discussion about that once I get to unveiling my Northwest Airlines set. That the arrows are pointing opposite directions on both sides of the aircraft kinda takes away from the whole point of NorthWEST's identity.

But I'll get into all that later...stay tuned.

No, no, no.

That is completely geographcally and geometrically false. Sorry to quote myself, but here goes:

The arrows are pointing the same direction. If one is northwest, so is the other.

In reality, the logo is rarely, if ever, pointing northwest. We just associate "upper left" with "northwest." Not to mention the triangle appears to be equilateral, so the direction it's "pointing" is completely ambiguous.

Absolutely. We tend to associate "up" with north, "down" with south, "right" with east and "left" with west, because that's how our maps are positioned, and that's how our compass rose depicts it.

On ancient Arabian maps, south was always at the top, and north was always at the bottom.

KLM please...Royal Dutch Airlines (and maybe add a bit of orange because it;s the color of Royalty in Holland)

Thanks

Here's the funny thing: I was actualyl going to do a Northwest third outfit AS KLM Royal Dutch, being that they've had such a strong pertnership for so long. But they're enough of their own entities that I decided against it, and yes I guess I will add KLM to my list to do now...it'll be a while before I can get to it, though.

Geez...did I even know what I was getting myself into with this series? but it's all gravy...the more airlines, the more uniforms I get to make.

All in the name of sharpening skills!

(By the way, good point on the ambiguous "equilateral triangle" on the Northwest thing whoever it was that pointed that out. I was looking at it that way earlier and didn't even realize that taht little arrow COULD be pointing northwest no matter how it's looked at.

(Oh the many ways pictorial references can straight :censored: with one's brain...)

Nice work and a good idea. I'd add the R/W/B stripes on the AA helmet and a white surround on the helmet logo (like on the airplane tails) but those are my only suggestion.

A small correction - airliners do not carry 6 or 7 tons of paint. One ton is 2000 lbs and the typical livery adds 500 to 2000 lbs of paint depending on the size of the aircraft.

I was with American for 14 years, left in 2001 for another opportunity that the wheels flew off of. Went to work for Delta but "cut ties" with them in Dec 2004, or should I say they did with me. Laid off with 7000 others. :-(

I disagree with those who insist the right side Northwest logo is correct. We "associate" north with up because that's where it is on a map. And northwest is upper left. And it's goofy if for no other reason than it's inconsistent with the other side.

I'd sure like to see you do my first airline(s) before American:

Muse Air:

...which turned into TranStar (a little more to work with here...):

The colors aren't quite right, Muse Air's planes were more of a cream color while TranStar's pinstripes were a vivid pink / light blue / light green.

Very cool concept - will JetBlue uniforms have TV sets on the backs?

Better question: If you were to fall in any financial hardship while making these concept designs, would we all have to bail you out so you could afford to continue?

Nah, theyd prolly fold in the middle of a game and get made fun of after every episode of south park.

BTW, how long till you do a Braniff set? :P
