Shumway
The Phillies have traded a player to be named for Jeff Conine of the Orioles.Story...finally, I can have someone on the Phils' bench in MLB 06: The Show.
schwep76
Gillick sure seems like he's changed his mind on the whole "we won't contend for the playoffs until '08" idea. He's going for it now.

I think the team changed his mind for him. I don't think anyone banked on them making this run. Guys like Liberthal, Nuñez, and Geary who were doing nothing at the beginning of the year are producing, they have depth behind the plate with Coste, and the money players are doing what they do best (save Burrell, who still looks clueless at the plate). This is an excellent move. He's a good veteran bat, a good outfielder, and he can play 1st every now and again to give Howard a day off.
Camden Crazy
Thanks for taking him off of our hands just a few at-bats before his 2007 option gets kicked in.
VandyDelphia Mike
Conine has a reputation for being a Phillie-killer when with Florida, and even to some extent with Baltimore. The Phillies will hope he has unlearned that trait now that he will be on their side.
