Padres to don green alt hat?

So today at work my boss let me get a good look at all the new polyester hats scheduled to be released the 30th of this month. Ive already set aside a few that im going to purchase including the new Toronto alt hat and what looks like the new Padres alt hat. The hat has the same SD logo as the home and road but is olive green and features a gold SD. Now at first I assumed its the padres military day hats but it doesnt have the new Era flag on the side like in years past, and it seems a bit odd that we would recieve a full shipment of them along with the home and roads a full month and a half before the release date. And on top of that, its listed seperately from the military alt hats. If Photobucket wasnt being so damn unreliable id upload the picture I snapped and show you all.

EDIT: Ok so Photobucket finally decided to cooperate.

Sorry about the cruddy quality but my boss was terrified of a possible "leak" so I had to make it quick.

Now why would he worry about that...???

Heh.

I think its just mainly paranoia. He didnt mind that I took a pic, and didnt seem to freak when I told him my intent, but he said to "Make it quick". And the new hats cannot be put out to sell by any means till March 30th according to a letter recieved from NewEra, but I already own three. One of which I got from Lids (Tigers home hat) and two I got from MLB.com (Both new D Backs caps). This new cap thing is starting to become painfully confusing

If the cap is Green, with a Gold "SD" and Black trim, then yes - it is definitely the "Desert Camouflage" caps.

2007 is the first season that these have been designated as official alternate uniforms.

So it is possible that they will be worn a few times this season... anyone heard anything?

Interesting. Not that California needs another baseball team wearing green and gold, and not that the Padres need to change any element of their already fantastic and U.S. Navy-esque uniforms, but a camo-themed green and brown or green and tan would be an interesting color scheme for a team. More for a team in an Army town than one in a Navy town, but still.

Sorry. Shouldn't have said Gold. It's Sand...the same Sand color they already use...

These will be a home alternate to be worn on special occasions (4th of July). They've actually done this before in 2003 or 2004.

i thinks its because they want to make it a big deal, an official unvailing type thing. instead of just shipping them off to a store and mixing them in(like they did with the tigers hats) and customers not being any of the wiser. by doing this it will make give the new hats a sense of legitamicy of being new and special

I saw the camo jersey for sale somewhere on-line last week being billed as the secondary alt jersey. Didn't realize that the alt cap would go with that jersey.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!
