All they'd have to do is slap the hawk logo on the sides of the helmet. I think it would be a good look for them. After all, Iowa did have a history of wearing gold helmets... Their Steelers-ripoff look nonetheless represents the best success of the program, as in Hayden Fry's four (losing) Rose Bowls. Since they got away from those, they haven't even been to the Rose Bowl, I believe.These are by far my favorites. It modifies the classic Steelers look for the Hawkeyes, adding the Tigerhawk to the sleeves and a big IOWA across the chest. (I'm not a fan of the complete copycat look either... at least they added a subtle Iowa above the number a few years back.) Plus these ended the Apex mess. Too bad they also only lasted a few years.And they haven't been back to the Rose Bowl, except the one they played against USC in 2003 in Miami (actually the Orange Bowl). Baldy Posted August 16, 2008 Share Posted August 16, 2008 Iowa has a classic uniform. Hayden Fry did copy it from the Steelers when he took the job at Iowa. My favorite coach ever, Bill Snyder, Offensive Coordinator for Fry, patterned the classic K-State uniform (1989-2006) from the Dallas Cowboys.
