gEO 3b 4 Posted July 5, 2009 Share Posted July 5, 2009 I noticed a little while back, and then just realized again today while looking through the MLB.com shop that for the Cardinals all three of their caps are being sold with the All-Star patch on the side. I don't quite understand why assuming that only one will be worn on field. Certainly it's just another attempt by new Era and MLB to bring in more $$$, but I never noticed a team having more than one All Star cap released before. The World Series is not played during the day, and the blue caps are only worn in home games that start in what is considered "day." I've just never seen it with ASG patches before, they've been pretty consistent with just manufacturing the hats that are worn during the game, Host league's home caps and visiting league's away caps. I was just surprised to see it this year. I was looking to buy a Cards ASG hat, and I love their away hats but I don't want to buy it because it just seems silly to me. One of my three favorite souvenirs is a genuine World Series baseball from 1994 -- interesting to me precisely because it was never used. But in the future, could you please always buy caps from the Phillies, Yankees, or White Sox if they make it to the Series? Since '96 I bought a WS hat almost every year. All the Yankee hats (96, 98, 99, 2000, 01, 03), I used to have a '97 Indians hat but outgrew it and don't know where it went, an '02 alt Giants hat with the black logo outlined in orange, an '04 Yankee World Series hat interestingly, a red '05 Astros hat, no '06, the Purple '07 Rockies, and an '08 TB. I'm trying to get as many past ASG caps as I can from different teams each year, and especially Futures game hats. I went to the Futures game (as well as the Derby and ASG) last year and meant to buy a Futures game hat but didn't, thinking I would just be able to at a later date. I waited too long however and I can't find any. If anyone knows where I can find a hat with the '08 Futures Game patch on it (any team, preferably except Yankees or Boston..never bought a Sox hat in my life) in size 7 1/2 please let me know. Another one I would love to get is hats worn for the Taco Bell Legends/Celebrity Softball game, but I've never seen them available for purchase.
