Authentic hockey jerseys with customization

I've got a few jerseys I'm hoping to get customized (finally), so i've been doing the same soul searching that all of us have done when deciding which players to get on my jersey...

however, i recently had a thought that had never crossed my mind before.

i've got a black replica 90's stars jersey that i'm hoping to get archie irbe's name on it... or possibly trent klatt... it could go either way, a forward or a goalie...

then i've got an authentic white jersey... it's authentic... and not goalie cut...

i feel weird with the idea of getting an authentic non-goalie-cut jersey, with fight strap, customized with a goalie's name and number. do goalies have fighting straps? am i insane for caring about the cut?

discuss.

-arturs- irbe maybe ? and yes they do have fight straps. Just YouTube the big Ottawa\Phuladoofa debacle from a few years ago

i'm well aware his name is arturs. lol. he's one of my favorite players... archie is one of his nicknames.

Get whoever the **** you want on your jersey. It is YOUR jersey. A) I doubt anyone is going to come up to you and say "man, what a fool, you got a goalie's name on a non-goalie jersey" and B) if anyone did (or equivalent) then they obviously have no life and should be punched in the nuts. There's nothing I tire more of hearing than people saying how other people should and should not spend their own money.

you're wearing the jersey, not a goalie. Unless you plan on wearing an excess of padding underneath it, don't worry about it.

I have a Tim Thomas authentic Bruins 3rd jersey. It's not goalie cut (actually it's a bit snug), but it does have a fight strap.

Enjoy it, and be comfortable.

I agree. I'd say .0001% would ever recognize that "error." If you want to do it and it's all about what others will notice then just do it. It's all about whether it bothers you. If so then get Klatt. If not, get what you want. Some people are not bothered by last names on a Yankee jersey. If so, good for them. Obviously most on this board are not like that...but this is far more intricate.

Do whatever name will make you proud and wear it to the game or play a game in it. As far as goalie cut jerseys, when did those come into play? I only ask because if you watch early Patrick Roy games vs. games when he played for Colorado, there's a huge difference in cut/style of the jersey. I just wouldn't want to wear a goalie cut jersey of the late 90's-early 2000's as you'd be swimming in it. Heck, fat Oprah would be swimming in it!

I totally understand your concern regarding putting a goalie name / number on a non-goalie-cut jersey. I think it's perfectly normal for people like us to obsess about stuff like that. If it's something that will always be in the back of your mind, and will bother you, then get Klatt. But, if you're really that OCD about this stuff, you'd need to know exactly what size Klatt wore and if his jersey was customized at all. If that's the case, you're better off looking for a game-worn jersey. Personally, I don't wear jerseys, but if it's not a game worn (and there's not much noticeable difference other than the cut), I'd probably go with my favorite player (Irbe in your case.)

actually, my favorite player is derian hatcher... and i'm getting it on a different authentic. lol...

irbe is for the black replica... this authentic is a mid 90's white, that i'm strongly leaning towards andy moog.

Hmm... I guess I couldn't have misread the original post any more. That's what afternoon drinking does to you.
