NLL finally gets a new TV deal

After three seasons with no TV coverage at all except for last season's Champion's Cup Final on Versus, the National Lapdance Lacrosse League has inked a nine-game deal with that same network for this season.

The contract includes regular-season and postseason games, and begins with the 2011 NLL All-Star Game, which returns this year on Feb. 27 after a one-season hiatus. Unlike previous NLL ASGs this one will be played at a neutral site, specifically the Turning Stone Casino in upstate New York.

About :censored: ing time, I say...

Good to see the NLL get some national coverage, its really a great league and I've had a great time at every NLL match I've been to when I lived in Denver.

I jumped out of my chair when I saw this.

Between Versus and TSN the league is well covered on TV now.

Not sure what happened to them until now. I remember watching the heyday of the Rock when they were dominating.

Nice to see the league improving its footing again.

Great news. I hate that NLL games haven't been available. I've caught a bit of Bandits action on Livestream in the meantime, but sometimes it lags or times out.

Doesn't that annoy the heck out of you? That's how I watch Rock games....when I'm not at them. Drives me up the effing wall when it times out.

Absolutely. Worst part is, when it times out, it doesn't reconnect.

Bumping this, as it turns out the NLL ASG will even have a connection, tenuous as it may be, to the late, unlamented Chicago Shamrox:

The Daily Herald reported Thursday that the village of Hoffman Estates voted to sell the Shamrox’ turf to the NLL, who needs it for the upcoming All-Star Game at Turning Stone Resort.

East 30, West 26 is your final, and Shawn Evans of the Rochester Knighthawks and East is the MVP.

The red, green and black unis (on both teams, no less!) were ugly as hell, even the tiny arena at Turning Stone didn't look completely full, and as usual in all-star games there was no defense or physical play to speak of. Oh, and the Versus announcers (John Gurtler and Brian Shanahan) f :censored: king sucked.

But hey, the NLL is back on national TV! W00t!

30-26?

Sounds like defense is optional in the NLL, no matter if it's a regular season game or the All-Star Game at some casino that I never heard of until now.

The combined 56 goals are over twice the average score in NLL regular season or playoff games. Scoring 12 goals in a game is usually enough to win. Meanwhile shutout quarters, while not commonplace, are not unheard of either and not even all that rare.
