College Football/Australian Rules crossover

Hi.

I started doing this crossover concept series on an Australian rules football forum awhile back but never finished it when I left the site, so I thought I would post them on here and see what people might think if for instance the NCAA made Aussie rules a sport or something. I don?t know how familiar this community is with AFL guernsey design, but they are pretty plain and simple. Stripes, hoops, chevrons, big V?s, sashes, yolks, monograms is generally all you?re going to get (with the odd outrageous look), and I kept that with most of them. There?s a bit of repetition. Because AFL uniforms are cut off at the sleeve they can look pretty similar to basketball jerseys, so I tried to keep them as far away from basketball jersey design as possible.

I only did one version for Oregon because every single college football one has a bunch of different Oregon combinations, it'd be nothing new. My own personal favourite is the Cal one. :) I'll try and make some time to get started on the Big 12 next I think.

Thanks, I really dig that one as well and kept it going with the sash look.

Just about to start the Big 12 now. After that I will do the ACC and finish with the B1G. I can't be bothered with the Big East haha.

I'm wondering how my Terps are gonna look like. XD

Completed the Big 12 now, didn't take that long to do with only ten teams in it. I included TCU and West Virginia just as I've included Mizzou and Texas A&M to the SEC, and will be doing likewise with Pitt and Syracuse in the coming ACC set.

Notre Dame up next (can't not have them), then the ACC and B1G to finish things off in the next week or so. :)

I'm really loving this series. You've manage to capture the essence of the schools, college sports, and Aussie football in all of these concepts.

All of the Big 12 concepts look very nice. WVU looks particularly cool.

You may or may not want to take this suggestion, as it's just an idea that popped in my head. What if for the Texas guernsey, you place a big white longhorn on the front, sort of reminiscent of Fremantle's old anchor? It could make a nice alt or something.

Really looking forward to the rest of this series. Keep it up!

Yes, I root for teams all over the place. And I apparently favor birds.

Thanks!

I tried something similar to that with Texas and did all sorts of versions to get the longhorn logo to work, but it kept looking really squashed and out of place so I went with the chevron style instead. I might have another stab at it when I finish the ACC and B1G.

not to be nitpicky, but I figured I may as well point out that these technically aint crossovers, seeing as every college I know of that plays football also plays several other sports.

Texas: heh, there are a few routes I would've taken. This aint one of em, but it's okay, I guess. Fits with the Horns' usual tastes, at any rate.

Tennessee: It wasn't supremely recent, though I did do an SEC set a while back. And I know one thing, needs checkers. Wouldn't even need to be full checkerboard. Granted, the V would be okay, but

Vandy: I wouldn't have used a V for Tennessee's main jumper...but I sure as hell would've for Vandy. Whether it was traditional style or a big V like the Vic state jumper, it would've made more sense than whatever the striping you used is supposed to be.

Well ... yeah, obviously. But does a thread title matter? :-/ "NCAA/Australian rules crossover" then.

*shrug* I just thought it looked nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to say: haven't given up on this, but I've had little to no free time this past two weeks to make any jerseys so I'm still slowly working through the ACC. I'm about halfway through.
