JamesCraven
If I may have the blessings of CC97, I would like to introduce a new retroization update project:PROJECT WORLD FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2004The project: In honor of the 30th anniversary of the old World Football League, create a new look with uniforms, helmet and logo for any actually-played World Football League team.Where to find the information:Our Sports Central WFL Home Uniform page. Our Sports Central WFL Road Uniforms page.Logoserver's WFL Logo page. Can't wait to see what you can come up with. See Red
Ok... I thought this might be interesting so i attempted a team. I did the Houston Texans, and it isn't too much different because A. I feel when doing projects like this for old leagues, it's important to modernize the logo as opposed to overhauling it and B. There's not much you can do to modernize this logo.My remake isn't the best, to say the least... lol. But I figured by this point they would've gone to old gold and possibly darkened their green. Also, I added the star because I couldn't get a Texas flag theme like most other fluffing Texas sports teams and the star is in the general area of Houston. Maybe too far left but... oh well! I may eventually do jerseys.I'm gonna add the drop shadow and post the update in a wee bit.edit - here's a drop shadowed version...
Slammersman
That's very nice. I like I'm gonna try my first logo for the American's or Vulcans. I'm not promissing anything but I'm gonna try.
Mac the Knife
What happened to that fabulous USFL project that was being worked on?
robbman21
What happened to that fabulous USFL project that was being worked on? Mac I was wondering the exact same thing.I remember seeing the re-tooled Showboats and the Panthers, and then nothing.
Brian in Boston
The driving force behind the USFL project - nitroseed - is taking an extended hiatus from the boards.Incidentally, the first two concepts were retoolings of the USFL's Michigan Panthers and Houston Gamblers... not the Panthers and Showboats.Brian in Boston

See Red
I wish I could tell you... unfortunately, that'd mean i do my work in Illustrator and that is not the case. I do all my work in Paint Shop Pro, so I couldn't help ya on that one.
Phil
I have a question: How do you do drop shadows? I have used illustrator for a year and I stil don't know. I use off-set paths to make the outlines, and then I copy the outline, move it the certain distance whichever direction, and then just connect the corners. Curved objects make for tougher drop shadows... sometimes you have to add an anchor point or two to get the 'corners' right.
shiznit1083
Yeah that's what I do, I just didn't know if there was some easier way to do it. There are a ton of options illustrator has, that i don't even use that could make my life easier.

A quickie way is to simply duplicate the object (or group) you want to create a shadow for, move it to the back, and offset it however many pixels you want. You can then go to Object -> Blend -> MakeBefore that, though, you should go to Object -> Blend -> Blend Options, set to "Specified Steps", and then experiment with the number of "steps" until it looks right. Of course, you will begin to notice some jaggedness when you zoom really close, but it's certainly fine for a concept.Alternately, you can use the "ShadowLand" part of KPT Vector Effects (version 1.5 works with Illustrator 10, not sure about CS) to do the same thing, but smoother.--Eriq. slapshot
Illustrator CS has 3-d rendering capability as part of its features. I think it absorbed all the functionality that Adobe Dimensions used to have. I'm not sure about extruding (3-d by perspective, like the H in the Dallas WHA logo), but it probably is.
