Island_Style
I always thought that Georgia asked permission from GB to use their G. Apparently UGA did ask for permission even though the G was different. Over time Green Bay redesigned their G a few times and now it looks like UGA's. I'm trying to look for pics now to compare. I have always wondered the story of the G. So Green Bay started it but Georgia perfected it? Gothamite
That's what Georgia says, but I don't know it to be the case. Been researching it for a while, but most of the original players are dead. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Cola
I have looked but never found Green Bay's "G" that looked similar to Georgia's G that was slowly altered to represent what they both currently have. Supposedly, the current "G" that both teams use was first used by Georgia.
Gothamite
Again, that's what Georgia says. Could be true, we don't yet know. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
WizKid
This is the same case with Grambling State. GrizzlyBlack Designs, UDC Firebird
Gothamite
Both of them use the logo under license from the Packers. The difference is that Grambling isn't now claiming that they actually designed it. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. rmackman
This is the best explanation that I could find:http://www.thesports...-the-packers-g/Basically, Georgia claims Green Bay took their idea of adding color outside the G. The Packers started it with just a green/white G. Georgia used it, slightly changed the shape, and added red around the outside. The Packers then put a yellow stripe around their G. So Georgia says it was their idea first. "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be eaten. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." - Unknown | Check out my articles on jerseys at Bacon Sports
Brave-Bird 08
The only issue with that blog post is that the Georgia G shown is skewed. That's the image on the mothership as well, but it's too skinny. Georgia's logo has the same metrics as the Packers logo.
