VictoriaGooner
The Sun-Magpies game was really good. It is a shame about Brownlow contender Ablett picking up that shoulder injury. It was pretty disheartening to see his shoulder pop out its socket like that. Plus all the book makers have suspended betting on the Brownlow with this injury.http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-07-06/brownlow-betting-suspendedHere's the latest The 10 from Round 16 of the AFL...enjoy!http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-07-06/the-10-round-16There is a new leader on top of the ladder this week and it's the Swans! With their victory over West Coast and the Power losing to the Bombers, the Swans take the top spot for the first time in 2014. As well, with victories by the Cats and the Dockers, there is a four-way log jam for second place. The Magpies, Roos and Suns are a further 8 points back. What a finish we have in store for the 2014 season! THE SHORT FUSE | ARSEBLOG

This stemmed from the Hawks-Roos game this past week where Lake forcefully applied his hand to Petrie's throat where there was a risk of serious injury. That'll be a huge loss for the Hawks this week, not like their defense was solid anyways with Josh Simpson being out with a lengthy injury. Drew Petrie himself, the other side of the bust up, was cleared of all charges by the League. No one would have guessed that would have happened, especially with Fremantle only scoring 9.6.60. Riewoldt and Stanley put on a goal scoring highlight fest. Match reportThe last two minutes in the Bulldogs-Bombers game was a thing of beauty. What a strong defensive stand by the Bombers. But Jake Carlisle lead the way for the Essendon with 8 goals. VictoriaGooner
The Roos have been terribly inconsistent over the entire season. I was hoping maybe they could string some victories together but I don't see that happening anytime soon. It would be good for the league for more of these lesser clubs making a push for a Finals berth. But my Swans are top of the ladder with a game in hand. Big game this week v Hawthorn. VictoriaGooner
The Sydney v Hawthorn game on Saturday should be the game of the season, and quite possibly a preview of this year's Grand Final. Sodboy13
Now that it basically doesn't count unless they run the table, the Tigers have pulled out 4 straight, and go against GWS, losers of 4 straight, next week. I'd put money on the Giants to cover, if not win outright. At least the game isn't in Cairns.Crap decision by Fox to put the Lions-Suns game on Fox Sports 2, while burying Hawks-Suns on Fox Soccer Plus, a channel which costs an extra $15 per month on its own. VictoriaGooner
As for the Tigers-Suns game next round, I would take the Tigers for the spread or win due to the Suns being 0-7 when they they play without Ablett. As for the second half of the Hawks-Swans game, I was hoping for more from the Swans especially Buddy Franklin. Now it's a three way tie on top the ladder. What a finish this season is going to be and run into the Grand Final Series.
