MJD7
Hey everyone, Now that I'm just about finished up with every team, I'm excited to announce the start of my MLB Redesign Series! Where as in my last series I constrained myself to just trying to fix each team's individual needs as I saw fit, in this series I'm allowing myself to go broad for the sake of making the entire league look better as a whole. Some major goals I had in the making of this series were: To allow each team to have its own unique color scheme; to diversify the overall color palette of the Majors from the overly common red and blue. To give teams more fresh and modern looks based on team history and namesake. To minimize the use of gray road uniforms as much as possible, allowing for more intriguing and colorful matchups. To give each team its own unique sock pattern that can be easily distinguishable from the rest of the league. To expand the league an extra 6 teams (1 in each division) based on the strongest Minor League identities, as well as past Major League history. To utilize traditional looks from team history when they work, but to also not be afraid to forsake tradition when necessary. Here are all the different color schemes I'll be using over the course of the series, with each team revealed on the day it is posted: I'm going to be posting every other day, in order to allow more room for criticisms and updates. I'll be starting off tomorrow with the Arizona Diamondbacks!
coco1997
This should be a fun series. I'm interested to see which six minor league identities you chose to adapt to the Majors.
MJD7
Excited to start the series off today with the Arizona Diamondbacks! Logos -A pretty radical departure from Arizona's current look, I opted to eliminate black and place the primary focus on dark red and turquoise. This way, the set is brightened up and looks more similar to the old days of purple and teal, while also reflecting a very Arizona-esque color scheme. -Although there are two caps, both have a red crown. -The away uniform is the sand color seen in Arizona's current set. -Overall, the set is fittingly focused on diamonds aesthetically. Uniforms -Instead of just being on the back, the home uniform has a diamond-pinstripe look that acts as sort of a "snakeskin" in a way, hopefully incorporating that idea more subtlety than the actual set. I know I've seen this idea somewhere before, so if someone could let me know so I could give credit that would be great. -The other three uniforms and the socks feature the diamond sleeve stripe that was seen in the late 90's-early 2000's. I loved that look, and I'm not sure why they ever departed from it. -Although the 2nd alternate probably wouldn't be worn often, its color is based off of the beautiful Navajo jewelry that features bright turquoise, so I thought it fit. I'd love to hear what you guys think about the first team in the series!
coco1997
Great job! Are you going to be posting the whole league in alphabetical order or going by division? Also, since the NOB arching is a bit off, maybe you could omit them for the sake of presentation.
BenD
Really liking this set but maybe darken the road set a bit, as it looks like a cream color now rather than sand. The pinstripes and omission of black were great ideas.
Carolingian Steamroller
I think I was the first to come up with the diamond pattern all over design. I take it as a very high compliment to see it used here. You've made an interesting improvement by switching to red and opting for cream over white. Good Job! I like being able to switch between the two leagues throughout. 4 hours ago, BenD said: Really liking this set but maybe darken the road set a bit, as it looks like a cream color now rather than sand. Thank you, and the home uniform is actually depicted as a cream color, so do you think the road might be too close to that? 15 minutes ago, Carolingian Steamroller said: I think I was the first to come up with the diamond pattern all over design. Ah yes, that's definitely where I first saw that idea. So obviously all credit goes to you for that, I highly doubt I would've come up with that on my own! And thank you! mamiller99
I agree with the above comments. Maybe a dark bronze or copper would work better as an away jersey color. Could we see steal what with a red brim and the D-Snake logo in the second alternate? I think it'd achieve better color balance That's what- She

Ok so here are a few different shades of a copper color for the away. The first is Arizona's shade of copper seen on the main site (which I personally think is too dark), the second I found online and the third was from darkening the current shade of sand. Let me know what you all think: 31 minutes ago, mamiller99 said: Could we see steal what with a red brim and the D-Snake logo in the second alternate? I do like how this looks though color-wise. As always, any comments are appreciated greatly.
coco1997
Personally I'm fine with the original shade you chose, but of those three new options I'd go with the third.
ItDoesntMatter
Third shade is the best, but the first would make a good alternate uniform IMO. Rest of the set looks real nice. BenD
Third option is beautiful, and I'm actually digging the teal on teal alt.
Carolingian Steamroller
This may be an insane idea but why not use mono turquoise as the road uniform? We have lots of precedent for mono blues on the road and if you get the shade right it could look a lot like some of the mid-70's Phillies. Alright, here is the entire set with the slightly darker copper color. Is this any better/worse? The only worry I have is that it's edging closer to another team's scheme later on in the series. 13 hours ago, Carolingian Steamroller said: This may be an insane idea but why not use mono turquoise as the road uniform? Here's a look at it, it reminds me of my color rush look for Arizona. It doesn't look half bad, it's probably just a little too bright for my personal taste. MJD7
Next up: the Braves fully embrace the "Hotlanta" nickname. Logos -I was fully prepared to make the Braves red & black in order to match the rest of the city, but when I saw these uniforms that the Boston Braves used to wear, I knew I had to make the switch. It's a color scheme that is heavily linked with Atlanta's sports history, and I knew I wanted to incorporate it somewhere in the series because it can look great when used. -The tomahawk is removed from branding, just because I don't think it fits with the progression towards modernity. Uniforms -So this version of the Braves ended up being remarkably similar to @Victormrey's recently uploaded Braves set, the biggest differences being the lowercase A and obviously the colors. -Interesting to point out that now all of Atlanta's teams would be linked together by some sort of feather in their branding. -If this wants to potentially be seen as a progression towards a firefighter-based identity, as suggested in the SportsLogos topic a little while ago, the sleeve feathers could also be seen as flames, sort of. -The outline on the numbers has been made extremely thick in order to better match the wordmarks. -The front panel caps are based off of Atlanta's old design. -The sock stripe is both meant to mimic the stripe pattern of the feather and also be a throwback to socks of the Braves' past. That's about all I've got for the Braves, any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Carolingian Steamroller
I really like the home uniform. However, despite my love for chromatic road uniforms I think the solid red is just a little too harsh.
