  1. The Syracuse Crunch and San Jose Barracudas share the same colour scheme as their parent clubs, but have very different jerseys. The Grand Rapid Griffins also have a different template than Detroit. Yet, all three teams use the same pants/helmets/gloves as their parent teams even though they don't really go along with the jerseys, especially the Crunch. Those three teams could all go with plain pants, but don't. So, I would actually say the practicality part is just as important as looking similar to the NHL team. The NHL logo is even on the back of the pants for all AHL teams and any team logos. A player might switch brands, but if they were to get called up to the NHL during the middle of the season, they might not have the helmet/gloves they want in stock, especially on the road. Not to mention they would also want to break in anything new before actually using them in a game. So, having the same gear would mean that wouldn't be an issue.
  2. I would say it's less lazy and more practical for the gloves/helmets/pants to be the same. A player gets called up or sent down, they bring their equipment with them and all the team needs to provide is the jersey and socks. Also, we all know how players can be particular with their equipment. It's lazy, but standard practice, for the AHL team to use the same template with the parent club. Even if the jersey design was different, it still would make sense for the helmet/pants/gloves to be the same.
  3. The full colour courts plus the giant trophy make it look like it's CGI. That's the best way I can describe it. It looks like the players were taken from another picture and superimposed onto the court.
  4. Don't know why they did it, but that's not the reason. They don't wear shells. They have seperate black pants. I think most teams probably have different pants instead of using shells these days.
  5. The Vancouver Giants had their referee appreciation night and this is what the actual referees wore.
  6. I believe Hungry Jack's is only used in Australia and not in New Zealand. So, it would make sense for them to use Burger King. The front should still say Hungry Jack since it's part of the NBL logo.
  7. It makes sense to have only one helmet for international competition since a team only plays a few games per tournament. Junior and minor league teams do it for cost saving reasons. But, nowadays, even many major junior teams have two sets. I don't know why the Hurricanes have decided to wear the red helmets with the white jerseys, but it sure can't be to save a few bucks. Could it have been because they were on a losing streak and decided to try it out and it worked? Whatever the reason, it doesn't look good, at all, which is fine, I guess, since the uniform they pair it with is bad any ways since it doesn't match the home, has a dumb diagonal script, and does not even feature the primary logo at all.
  8. The striping pattern on the gold jersey looks decent, but needs hem stripes. The 747, which I guess is for the area code, is just lazy design.
  9. Vancouver Giants will wear referee jerseys for referee appreciation night on Oct. 22 as part of a fundraiser. The actual officials for this game will be wearing special uniforms of their own.
  10. Already posted pic of Raps jersey. Ignore
  11. Wenatchee Wild dark uniforms, Chicago Blackhawks style.
  12. Ford showed off the 2024 F-150 and with it, Ford's new logo. No more chrome and inner border.
  13. Twinings logo hasn't changed since 1787. https://www.imagerelay.com/blog/oldest-logos-that-still-exist-today#:~:text=What Is the Oldest Unaltered,two centuries ago%2C in 1787.
  14. Vegas with the Stanley Cup inspired center ice logo.
  15. It is nothing. You can just make out a Blue Jackets player behind Bedard and he's got the red pants at the NHLPA rookie showcase. At their rookie camp, the players also were in red pants. The blue pants look good with the road uniforms, but the home needs the red to break up all that blue since the hem stripes are so thin.
  16. I've wonder about this in the past and haven't found anything conclusive, but this article seems to allude that it wasn't at the time. I always thought it might have been, though. https://www.defendingbigd.com/dallas-stars-vancouver-canucks-2007-playoffs-game-7-rob-shick-brad-watson-sabotage-bitter-resentful/ "Vancouver was so rattled at this point that they went off script and chose to wear their weird third jerseys for game seven (which teams can no longer do in the playoffs) to get out of their funk. Did it work? Well, they would proceed to score zero even-strength goals in game seven, which, well..."
  17. The Canucks did it because they blew a 3-1 series lead against Dallas and wanted to change things up. I don't remember if they got fined or not for it, but it worked out. They won game 7. They probably didn't ask for permission and just did it. Doubt the league would have made them change.
  18. So weird that Hamilton has yellow pants with no stripe and yellow pants with the black stripe. They should always be wearing the one with the black stripe.
  19. Adam Silver and every NBA owner's dream court? An ad for every bucket.
  20. I can think of a couple of reasons. The first is that it's something new and different and the thinking is probably that something new will entice more fans to buy it than if were just the original since fans might already have it. They are also just following the recent trend from teams of coming up with anniversary jerseys instead of wearing direct throwbacks. Ducks did it for their 25th. Canucks and Sabres, Kings, and Flyers for their 50th. The Bruins are swapping out their logo. Wouldn't be surprised if they also end up with an anniversary jersey that is something different from anything they have worn. I think the Ducks should wear their original white jersey for their home opener at least.
  21. If the Riders were ever going to make the retros permanent, they would have done it by now. I'm not saying they shouldn't, but it's actually a pretty smart business move not doing it, as they can sell the modern gear and the retro stuff.
